Hi girls! Just popping in really quick to say hi. I've been readin all the posts on "stinky" babies. I bathe Mack every single morning. He loves the bathtub and just kicks his chubby little legs like crazy in there. It's part of our morning ritual, and afterward he nurses like a champ and takes a nap. Most people do the nighttime bath, but for me the morning is much less chaotic and it's just a fun Mack and mama time.

I have a quick question about car rides... Mack does NOT like to ride in the car. He's fine if my husband is driving and I'm back there next to him, but if I'm driving and he's alone he almost always cries. I've put in a mirror for him to see, I have a giant sunroof for him to look up and out, I try to make sure he's fed and changed, I play his baby Einstein CD, I talk to him... I just don't know what to do to make it easier on him. The gym I go to is about a 20 minute drive, and I just have to force myself to go each day. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears! THANKS!

    ear plugs.

Seriously-- not much more you can do if you've tried everything-- he'll get used to eventually. I've had a crier or two in the mix-- makes car rides icky for a time, but they grow out of it. Just keep talking to him through the wailing-- it'll lessen in time. God bless.
  • ok so once again im not going to be on long, baby just went to sleep so im hittin the hay too, im hoping for one of those nice 5 hour stretches, today has been tough, hes only slept 15-20 min at a time and wants to be held or entertained in some way but he seems to be sleepin pretty good now,

but i stuck to my calories today, beat two chocolate cravings and got some exercise in with baby so im pretty happy overall, just pooped lol...

so ive really noticed this site helping a lot, in the past i wouldve given in to those cravings and i usually cant stick with a diet but logging it all and seeing my cals is really helping and all you wonderful ladies are inspiring and motivating... now when i get a craving or feel the need to go grab a snack i ask myself am i really hungry or jst bored/stressed... then ill ususlly get on here and read a bunch of stuff and get inspired by everyone working so hard to be healthy... ok so im getting sleepy and i still want to do my pushups for today....

ugh n Ayden just woke up, so much for sleep....

Last night I had DH take a front and side picture of me in my bikini.

I don't love my DH that much.

Hi mommies! Not much time, very busy day/week. Getting overwhelmed, family arrives in two days. :noway: I will be scarce for about a week or so!

I went to the eye doctors today and I'm trying contacts. (They're not in now because my eyes were dialated. But I'll start tomorrow.)

I've always had glasses, since 3rd grade, except for a year in middle school when I wore contacts. I did it so as Harley gets into the grabby phase, I don't have to worry about bent glasses.

Because our insurance is changing next year, I also got a new pair of glasses that are all one-piece (no seperate nosepads or anything) so they're slightly more indestructible. They're a pinky purply and more "funky" then I've ever had. The best part is with the insurance, it ended up only being $66!

I didn't end up making cookies today. We didn't get home from the eye doctors until 9pm when I realized I left the eggs in my mom's car from when we went to the store earlier. So tomorrow I have to go to her house to get my eggs in the morning and then make and frost/sprinkle the cookies so they're ready to take to Christmas at the IL's on Saturday. At least I got all the presents wrapped yesterday.

I'm gonna go drink some hot chocolate to warm up. (I'm covered with a blanket and holding a sleeping Harley but I am still freezing!) Nite Mommies!

    Hey all,
Just a quick note here for a change. The midwife called and said my progesterone levels are increasing so that's good news. I am going in to have the hcG's retested and I will know the outcome on Monday or Tuesday. I am going to check with the midwife to see if I can go get my DH's present tomorrow. It's just down the street and it won't take long to get I don't think. I won't be able to do anything the rest of the day. Tomorrow is going to be beautiful so I am glad I am getting out for a few minutes, even if it is to go get poked again. I need to go take some vitamins which are nasty and then go to bed. See you all tomorrow!

Hello ladies-- it seems I've been behind the 8 ball all day, but I've been productive, so I guess it'll all come out in the wash. The house is filling with goodies so it's been hard not sampling. Tonight I bought a container of Planters Deluxe Mixed Nuts since we're hosting friends tomorrow-- and of course we opened them-- and the box of "reverse Junior Mints" or whatever they called them-- white on the outside, chocolate on the inside. They were yummy, too.

But, I only had one slice of Domino's pizza for dinner, and all in all, I don't think I'm over my cals by too much. I'm not gonna sweat it. No time to exercise this evening. After evening shift, and all the running to and fro-- son to work at 5, daughter to pizza party at 6, home from pizza party at 7, pick up son at 8-- all the while trying to finish my 5-7pm typing shift-- gaah.gif -- we then went to Walmart to pick up a few things. Joshy needed a new mattress for his toddler bed to complete the room that we tidied yesterday-- and some snowboots since we're due for some tomorrow, so I'm told. Then, natch, the dollar store is right next to Walmart so we had to go there, get some wrapping paper, gift boxes-- blah, blah, blah--
then by the time I got home it was already 10pm, and well past time for kidlets to go to bed. They all love going with me, so we were all there together.

I just thought I'd pop in and bid you all adieu-- parting is such sweet sorrow that-- something something-- til it be morrow.

Back to work-- have a great day, friends!!!!!!

Jovy was the same way. I remember one trip to my mother-in-laws (an hour a way), Jovy cried/screamed the last 20 minutes there and last 40 minutes back. Sometimes he was good but then could turn to screams, like the McDonalds drive through.

Sorry I don't have much help but he will grow out of it. I am thinking around six or seven months he became much better. We also took out the head support (when he was able) and that made a difference, gave him more room I think. How old is your baby?

ALL of my kids hated that stupid baby carrier & they all screamed (to some degree) EVERY car trip we'd take until 6-7 months old. Zeke was the worst, though. I've tried every trick in the book. Even having ME sitting back there with them did nothing so be happy you have at least that, Katie! I shudder just thinking about it. Tabitha just stopped about 2 months ago. :noway:

I'll bbl to finish checking in with all of you. The timer on my oven just dinged. I think that thing runs my life any more. Like I'm some sort of Pavlov experiment or something. LOL
  • ugh Im so tired and so frusrated... I think the longest Ayden stayed asleeplast night was maybe 2 1/2 hours, ugh, not fun... i really want chocolate n like 4 pieces of toast w/ butter n jelly... ugh but I cant, must stay strong

    Good morning!
I am excited! It's going to be a gorgeous day (74*) and I get to get out!!! Okay, so maybe I will only be going to the midwife's to have more blood drawn, but I will be able to get out! I am also going to see if I can make a quick trip to Wally World to get my husband's present and maybe a shirt or two for my stepdad. I will have to do nothing the rest of the day and tomorrow, but I seem to be getting used to that. I do hope that we can drive around this weekend and look at Christmas lights, or at least that DH will take Alex out to see them. We are the only ones who have light up in our circle.
I don't know how to help about the crying in the car thing. That's the one thing that calmed Alex down. He cried a lot as a baby, but not too horribly bad in the car, unless he'd been in there a long while. I do think your baby will out grow it soon, as most babies do.
Alex isn't wanting to eat. He barely ate anything yesterday. He will eat snacks but not his meals. I am not giving him more snacks that usual, he's just quit eating. I am thinking part of it is that I have to mix vitamins in his food but even without the vitamins he's not eating. Even french fries! He's probably going to go through a growth spurt soon so he's saving up. lol
Have a good day everyone! Hope the weather is nice for you too!

Hi girls! IT'S FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited!!! Today my plan is to go to the gym around 1:00 and then wrap my hubby's Christmas presents. We're not supposed to get each other anything, but he ALWAYS gets me something, so I got him a few little things. We leave for Montana on Monday night, so we're going to celebrate our own little way on Sunday night. My husband works a ton and travels a lot, but he has 2 weeks off starting tomorrow. I'm SUPER excited to be spending time with him. We'll be in MT for one week and then we have an entire week to ourselves at home.

By the way, Mack is 3 and 1/2 months old. He was born 5 weeks early and weight just over 5 pounds. He was so tiny. Well... he's over 16 pounds now and wearing 6 month onesies!!! He's SO CUTE! I was just ooooing and aaaaaing over him this morning in the tub as he was splashing around with his chubby little legs. I can't believe how in love I am with this little man. Isn't being a mom the most incredible thing in the universe? I can't imagine not having him... and I alwasy said I never wanted kids. Wow... I'm a lucky girl.

  • Good Morning Laddies,

I was wondering if I could join your mommy group? I am a mother of 6 ( 5 boys and 1 girl) ages of the kids are 14 yr son, 10 yr son, 8 yr son, 5.9 yr son, 3.10 yr son and 2.9 yr daughter. We are done have kids we decided that while I was preg. with our daughter so I had my tubes tide after delievery her. I have been fighting with that decission the last 6 months cause I miss have a baby in the house:cry: crazy I know. We have a dairy farm so besides the kids and hubby we also have dairy cows to take care of also. All the kids are home today cause of the foot of snow we received over night:noway: I normally only have the girl home during the day. 14yr old is in 8th grade, 10 yr is in 4th grade, 8 yr old is in 2nd grade, 5 yr old is in Kgdn and the 3 yr old is in Headstart all day Mon-Fri.. I started my weight loss journey a year ago and somewhere in April I got of track and have been struggling every since and have put the weight back on that I had lost:explode: Looking for all the help and support I can get, it seems to especially help when you can talk with other ladies that understand what your are going through. Tried to sum it up so it didn't get to long.

MM- I too am jealous about the 74 degrees. It is currently 21 and we are suppose to get snow all day. If you do get out today PLEASE take it easy.

Supermom-I know it's hard to get sleep when you are bfing, but it will get better I promise. Are you pumping so hubby could take a late night feeding?? Do you feed him laying down? I caught some extra shut eye that way. Good luck!

Katie-I was super excited it's Friday too until I realized my son doesn't go back to school next week....now I dreading it  Actually I'm excited I get to go help with his Christmas party today. We are making Gingerbread Houses. How exciting that you get your hubby all to yourself for 2 weeks! My hubby has the 24th thru the 5th off....I hope we dont kill each other  And your little man is 16 lbs!!! at 3 1/2 months!! WOW are you feeding him steak and potatos. That's amazing growth for a premature baby. My daughter is 5 months and I don't think we've hit 15 lbs yet and she was full term. We are just transitioning into 3-6 month clothes.

Welcome abetterme!! These are wonderfully supportive ladies. Feel free to vent, scream, yell, ask for help, or whatever strikes you!!

Well I should go get my workout it. The scale is looking good this week but I don't want to jinx it by saying what it said this morning :blushing: So I will let you all know if it stays off over the weekend.

Have a wonderful day! "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..." Yes I finally found the Christmas Spirit!

Welcome to the group, Lisa! You sure do have your hands full! Marla is the mom of 9 so I'm sure the 2 of you can relate on topics of BIG families! I applaud you. 3 is my limit. Your kiddos are precious!

The girls on this thread are awesome. It has been a little quiet on the entire board today b/c of it being Friday & nearly Christmas so don't be offended if not a lot of people stop by to welcome you. We're really very nice! LOL

Roni - We didn't get very much snow (maybe 1-2" overnight) but the freezing rain can STOP now! I just tried to go out to my truck & walked on top of the snow b/c the ice was so thick I didn't fall through. THEN, I couldn't get my truck open. Frozen solid. Great. Also just about 20 here. I feel your pain!

Katie - Have a safe trip to MT! I read your blog after you posted & you have some CUTE pics of Mack on there. So adorable. Isn't it amazing how the some of things we "never wanted" end up being some of the things we could never live without?! Enjoy your hubby time!

MM - take it easy! Think of us iced in folks when you're basking in the 74 degree weather! BAH! SNOW! So glad things are still going good with the bitty baby!

Supermom - if you can start resisting those temptations now (like you are) it'll just get easier & easier as time goes by. At least your finals are over! YAY!

beautiful my *kitten*, Marla! Sorry, I have snow issues. The blinding white covered in sparkly ice is not my idea of lovely weather. My husband begs to differ, otherwise we would have moved to SC a year ago or Houston, TX this year. BAH! SNOW!

I completely agree! My husband's corporate office is out of NC and I always tell him I'd have no problem with him taking a job there. Though I'm sure the grandparents would. Both sets live about 15 minutes from us (less than 5 minutes from each other) and see Harley at least once a week. DH also likes it here. Blah!

Elmo makes me nuts. The ding dong speaks in third person & gets my kid to speak in third person. Zeke tries to laugh like him & my skin crawls. I really just don't like that stupid, red monster. Telly monster, now THAT'S a good guy. Baby Bear? I could do without the baby talk. Grover is good fun, but Bert & Ernie...still confuse me. We try to avoid Sesame Street at all possible.

    Y'all are so silly!
Well, I went out. I got my blood taken. Midwife was really hesitant to let me go to wally world but said okay as long as it was short and then I need to go home and rest. I was feeling pretty confident that everything was fine until she told me I still need bed rest. :frown: I know I do, but I feel so much better so I don't want to be laying around. I went to Wally and ended up feeling pretty dizzy walking around for less than ten minutes. Okay so now I see her point. Maybe it was just because I had blood drawn? I'm just frustrated with the holidays being here, and I'm missing out on seeing Alex in therapy, and may miss out on Christmas with my family. Sorry, I'm having a mood swing. Just wait five minutes.
On the bright side she said my hcG levels are up! Now just to make sure they are doubling. She said everything looks good. Dumb bleeding. Go away so I can play! Still no exercises at all...nothing, not leg lifts or anything. I tell you, I'm really glad my jeans still fit because I feel like a blimp already. lol
Guess I'd better get us lunch and then lay down all afternoon like a good girl. Is there a smiley face in a padded room bouncing off the walls? That's me...on the inside.

My dad did tell me they found me in a garbage dumpster when I was like 4...perhaps Oscar is my real daddy?
  • Hey Ya'll!!!

Well I got Ayden to take two more naps this morning, but they were only say 40 min each but I at least got a little more shut eye. AND I didnt give in to my temptation, just had my normal healthy breakfast and then slept a little more, phew, I was feeling horrible this morning, Thanks for all the support nd encouragement!! Ayden is eating again so I.. well nvm he just unlatched and is fast asleep, put him in his bassinet and I guess hes out for a bit, we had an eventful morning after I finally decided to stop trying to coax him into sleeping for a little while longer... man its a lot harder to get a baby to sleep than to just hit the snooze button  anywho, we got up and walked around the house a bit to see what was going on, he played in his bouncer for all of 15 min... hes having some bad gas lately and is really clingy, always wanting to toot on mommy lol so I gave him a nice warm bath thinking that might help soothe his gassy belly and I guess it did because he chilled and played online poker with grandpa for a while and then got hungry and so I got on here and now hes asleep... I hope his gassiness ends soon, I always burp him but he sometimes doesnt burp even if you sit there burping him for half an hour, he usually just goes to sleep, ugh I dont know what to do...

MM- I'm glad you're having a lovely day, we're 76 in Houston but 78% humidity- BLECH, ugh I hate it here, and YA Y for you're hcG levels being on the right track :flowerforyou:

katie- I'm so glad Mack gained so well! I cant wait for Ayden to get to three months, they say everything gets better around that age... is that true??

WELCOME abetterme!!! Wow 6 children! That must be great! I'm an only child and so is my hubby, we both want lots of kids, but I dont know how many yet, we were thinking 3-4 but who knows lol Im glad you've joined our board and good luck with losing weight, we're always here to support/encourage you

drevansmom- I do pump for times that we go out during the day and stuff, but hes last feeding of the night is some formula from hubby because it supposedly stays in his stomach longer and then I let him breastfeed til he is full and falls asleep, but some nights he'll sleep for 5 hours and others he only sleeps 2 1/2 before his next feeding. I still havent mastered the sidelying position for feeding him and I really want him to learn to sleep in his bassinet because for a while I was letting him sleep all night on my chest but I dont get very good sleep like that cuz Im worried hes going to move or fall off or I dunno, I just feel better with him in his bassinet

3BB- Yes I AM extremely happy my finals are over:drinker: and Im glad I resisted again, it seems to be getting a little easier, Im not as hungry in between meals and the healthy snacks tide me over just enough. You should be glad you didnt move to Houston this year, Hurricane Ike and not having electricity for 2 1/2 weeks sucked majorly!!! And some people went without electricity even longer than that.. Plus just because the thermometer says 76 right now, it feels SO gross outside because of how humid it is... trust me, you dont want to live here summers are horrendous spring n fall are rain n rain n winter is all mixed up, a week ago we were in freezing temps and had snow one night, now its sticky and gross outside... ok my rant is over lol Ive always wanted to live farther north away from the coast, Ive lived here my whole life and there are very few days I actually enjoy the weather

Marla- Im so jealous, I wish it was snowing here

ok Ayden is fussing again trying to pass gas again, poor little boy, I'll be back on later, hope everyone has a lovely day and remember to make healthy choices!!
  • Hi everyone! stopping by to say a quick hi! i hope everyone' doing well...today is a super depressing day...I need this awful rain to STOP now!!!
I actually worked out today...feels really good! I've had been super lazy and eating terribly for the last 2 weeks! I hate Postpartum Depression!!!!! UGH!!!!!
But I am def. motivated and I am hoping that I can do it this time! If i can get through this winter I can do anything! lol!
I am going to be here a bit less this week as my husband just had his last final and is off for 2 weeks from school!! Yay!!! sometimesI wonder if this was a good idea or not...
