Whoot! Whoot! Week one here we come!!0

I am READY, READY, READY to kick September into high gear!! (and in the butt!!)0
-
Hello everyone my name is Anina and I am a Kiwi who is currently living and working in South Korea with my Aussie/English husband. I have just turned 35 and I am currently doing another under-grad paper majoring in Spanish and Anthropology. My current weight as of this morning is 70.3kgs/154.7lbs. I have been trying for the last couple of months to get down to 65kgs/143lbs.
I suffer from Systemic lupus erythematosus but I am very lucky in the sense that despite suffering from flares (I’m currently going through one at the moment) it doesn’t stop me from doing my exercises. My flares are normally in the form of lesions and hair loss. At the moment I’m sporting a Donald Trump combover – fortunately for me I have a lot more hair than Donald therefore it’s not noticeable that I’m bald in certain places on my head.
I come from a family of big people. Not only in height but also obese levels too. I am of Samoan descent and in the past culturally it was seen as unhealthy to be thin/slim/skinny. The bigger you are meant you were extremely happy. Throughout school I was always on a diet of some sort and was soon suffering from bulimia. Although it was undetected for a couple of years, it soon came to light what was happening and an intervention in the form of my family and family doctor happened.
My heaviest weight has been 88kg/194.6lbs and that was only at the beginning of last year. The weight gain was due to no exercise because of a knee injury I’d sustained. Instead of changing my eating habits to compensate for the lack of exercise I continued to eat the same size portions and next thing you know I’m wearing between size 16 & 18 clothing.
Earlier this year I took myself off my meds and decided to try maintaining my health through diet and exercise. Bit by bit I have tweaked my diet but the massive change is going to be happening next month. I will be attempting to remove meat from my diet as well as dairy, mushrooms, tomatoes and eggplant. These are things that keep coming through from talks with nutritionists, iridologists as well as information online to keep away from. I know there is no cure for Lupus but if I can maintain my health without the need of meds I will be very happy.
I am 35 and am currently in the best shape I have ever been in my life. I’ve cut out the drink altogether and am at the moment training for a half-marathon in October. After, I will continue training for a full-marathon which I will complete before my 36th birthday in August next year and then after will be a triathlon while I am 36 years. I want to see how far I can go and at the same time enjoy life to max with my best friend, boyfriend, lover and husband.
I originally signed up with MFP in January this year and then fell off the wagon. I re-logged in at the beginning of August thanks to my girl KJ who got me back, convinced me to enter challenges and make friends. It has been one of the best things I’ve done and I have been blessed to have made so many friends who are on this journey with me. As well as working in Korea I’m doing another undergrad paper majoring in Spanish and Anthropology so “free time” for me is non-existent. I love my RUGBY and have no clue about NFL other than a game of super bowl would be a lot more interesting without all the ads
I look forward to getting to know all of you a bit more, working with you on this journey to a better lifestyle and to kicking September’s pounds of fat to the curb and leaving it there.0 -

I am deeply proud to report that my August Challenge team lost a whopping grand total of 102.6 pounds during the August Challenge. I can not stress enough how critical it is to do 2 things: encourage your fellow teammates and hold them accountable. When you know that others are not only watching you but also counting on you to pull your weight on the team it makes a difference.
Here's to Tribe Victorious Secret rocking the month of September and not just losing weight but making a PERMANENT lifestyle change so we can all be here a lot longer to make a positive difference in this world and bless those around us!!!0 -

My mother has lupus and several other sicknesses that go along with it. She is peggy432 on here. I thought it might be nice for you to have someone that is going through the same thing..0 -
On the tricep kickbacks is it 15 or 21?0
-
Hi everyone!!
Are you ready to rock it out for hte whole month!! I know I am.
My name is KJ and I'm A New Zealander who is currently living in South Korea.
I teach at a University and am currently on my last few months of my Masters. This causes alot of stress and I really have to force myself to go to the gym instead of sitting infront of my computer and completing all my work.
I can't wait till I'm finished studying as then I can really concerntrate on my healthy lifestyle.
I also can't wait to get to know all of you. 10 is a great number as it shows if we are not checking in and it also helps us be a closer community.
For those of you who have not been in a team with Lori prepare to be inspired and get your *kitten* kicked at the same time She is an awesome leader and I can't wait for her to whip me into shape.
Can't wait to get started!! However better get back to finishing my assignmnet :grumble:0 -
On the tricep kickbacks is it 15 or 21?
Sherri I will have to get a clarification from Gary on that. He just posted that he will not be on most of the day, but as soon as I find out I will let you know.0 -
:For those of you who have not been in a team with Lori prepare to be inspired and get your *kitten* kicked at the same time wink: She is an awesome leader and I can't wait for her to whip me into shape.
Don't believe the lies! She can be bribed with Carrot Cake! :-)
Lori is a great leader, and she will threaten to get in the mystery machine and come kick your rear if needed. Which makes you wonder three things...
1. Why isn't Lori in Scooby Doo Cartoons if she has the Mystery Machine. I think this is the work of Velma. I knew she was the conniving one! Acts all nerdy and smart with the glasses. I'm on to her.
2. Lori must be rich to be able to afford gas to drive around the US to kick peoples rears. Those vans are from the 60's and only get about 15MPG Highway!
3. Does she have any Scooby Snacks?0 -
Lori,
Could you please post the video for the wood chops? I can't seem to find it and I don't know what they are
Thanks so much,
Marie0 -

Ok Lori, let me get this right. The weekly workouts are to be done with (my) regualr workout regimen:embarassed: ? I hate to seem a little out of it, but my daughter had a really bad day today and I am so trying to make sure that I start off with all of the knowledge that I need. I don't want to wait until tomorrow and be in a total "duh" moment. Also, is PYGMY an acronym for something? I can't believe how slow I feel right now :noway: (lol). I will be better tomorrow. I just know I will:glasses:0

((((BIG HUG)))) Nica, yes the challenges are to be on top of your normal everyday work out. No pygmy doesn't stand for anything. You can choose which level you want to work at. We all understand how difficult your life is right now! What you need most right now is for all of us to encourage you and pray for you, your daughter and your family. Working out is going to help you cope with the chaos in your life. I understand how you feel when you say you feel slow and that there is no way. We will help you get through the month of September I promise!!!! Just hang in there!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Here are my before pics for this challenge. My goal is to lose at least 7 lbs in the month of September and tone up a lot more. Please hold me accountable.

You look like a model, Lori. Very beautiful and fit. You are so inspiring to me.
Thanks for the comment (even though you brought a on ). I am so emotional today. My baby was crying to the extreme today. She was not feeling good at all. She have never felt this way before. I was crying (in private, of course). I was also sad because I can't fit into the lab coats that they have for us to wear whenever we leave the floor. So I have to change into clean clothes each time I go down stairs:sad: . I was so . The nurses were really supportive, but I was so ashame. This is just another reason why I have to do this. I need this so bad. I am just a hot mess right now. Sorry for the long vent. I just needed to vent to someone that knows how it feel to be fat (I hope that I didn't offend anyone by saying that word).0 -
I made a playlist under my YouTube account for the workout videos that you post here - so I have a one-stop-shop for reference without having to scroll through the thread. If you guys have YouTube accounts, I suggest that you do the same thing.
Looking forward to tomorrow!0 -
Lori- you look amazing! and why of course we'll keep you accountable to reach your goal, 7 pounds and a rock hard body... consider it yours!
Nica- don't even think for a second that you would offend any of us. This is a safe place for encouragement and of course to laugh  , cry , vent :explode: , or celebrate .
Team Victorious Secret will be Victorious!0 -
Thank you so much. Now I am ready to hit it hard tomorrow. Woo hoo!!!0
