So I did my "Down & Dirty Mud Run" yesterday. It was tiring but a LOT of fun! It was a 5K race with military-style obstacles and a few mud pits. Our time was 52:30 (due to all the obstacles and running up & down all the hills), and I finished 86th out of 222 women in my age group. Not bad for my first time.
Here is our before & after (I'm wearing the pink camo bandanna):
**SORRY, still trying to figure out the pics, it keeps cutting off the right side.**
Can't wait to do it again next year!!0 -
Ok, let's see if this works:
Hooray, it worked! Here is our before & after (I'm wearing the pink camo bandanna).0 -
Hi! I'm still alive, checking in. I'm 5 lbs below my weight loss goal. Next goal: working on keeping up with water and vitamins, exercising regularly, and starting weight training.0

:flowerforyou: Wow, Victorious_One...congratuations !!!! I wish I were in your shoes.
Will there be a new thread started for this month?0 -

Just finally caught up wth three pages of post...Holy cow...Ive been out of the loop. All I can say is I missed you.
Alf- Glad to hear your celebrations went well. As far as hackers......It has just been a mess. and overwhelming mess.
Hewhoc- you are an inspiration to my fitness gene... thanks
tron. I am in the same uncontrollable place and I hate it. I spent alot of money for this party and we didnt even have it. Now I feel angry about it. Like a two year old tantrum. All I can offer are hugs and an ear to listen, eyes to read and fingers to respons....LOL I do believe thatstress/emotions are a weight is an issue. How we deal with stress effects our weight and emotional being. When we have stress the fatty cells party. I use to do Thai chi at a Y and it was the greatest feeling I ever felt. If I can move out of the funk I may try that again. I'm not sure if it was becasue I was in a class though because when I try a DVD I dont get the same feeling. But anything is better than the moopies.
Welcome newcomers!
swissmiss- thanks for holding us together. Enjoy your classes0 -
Zumba class tonight. It isn't until 7:30. That really leaves me too much time to talk myself out of it. You know...just begin to veg at home. I need to stay very busy after I get home in order to keep up the enthusiasm for the YMCA.0

Hey everyone:
Wanted to just touch base and let you know I haven't disappeared...entirely. I have been having a hard time getting back to the discipline of eating carefully and logging and excercising since I took so much time away to take care of my Mom. Things have slowed down now, and I think I just felt that for the last couple of weeks that I just deserved to do whatever I wanted to do after being stuck with doing everything I HAD to do...does that make sense? :ohwell: My Mom is doing much better now although she is reluctant to go out unless I'm the one to take her and she will not think about driving again yet. I give her confidence or make her feel safe or something. My sister, bless her heart, is coming to visit for several weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas to be with my Mom. My Mom is an extrovert and the being cooped up in the house all the time is really driving her crazy. Whereas for me, an introvet, being alone...reading all I want, watching movies etc....is like heaven! Anyway! I weighed in today and was only 1.1lb up from the last time I weighed myself over 3 weeks ago so am quite pleased with maintaining, now I'm recommiting to wt loss again and will try my best until my birthday in Feburary and then reassess things. Good to see everyones posts.
Lady Persia, I'm so sorry about your party, when I heard about the snow in CT I just worried that it was going to ruin your Ghouls. I feel for you....with the Pumpkinwalk thing we do here there is many a year that my scene was covered in snow after working on it soooooo hard! So sorry! The hacking was just insult to injury.
Swiss always glad to see you keeping our group together.
Chris, good for you on everything and looking forward to your Halloween Pics!
Alf: Hope you can recover from your family visits! Still planning on trying to get together with you when I'm in San Antonio...2 weeks!
Welcome all new folks!
Take care everyone! :flowerforyou:0 -
Yes Becky, the pics finally posted. Thanks!0
-
crew...thank you for your kind words. Glad mom is doing better. I think the greatest disppointment I had was my friend was driving up from VA...he requested time off from the military to be here. He drove 9 hours and at the last two hour trek from my home he turned around to go back to base. He would have ade it here before all the bad snow hit and it was clear the next day.( I live in a skiing community and the roads need to be cleared for business) That is when my heart sunk. Haven't been able to shake that feeling yet. My joy is creating horror things...I love it, I do it all year long and work my land. This year with my loss' I just feel spent. Kindof left out if that makes sense.
Sorry for rambling.....

Barbell Day: Squats, Bench Press, Bent Over Rows
Did good. The squats are coming along finally, feels like I have the form down now. Time for dinner (99% fat Free Ground Turkey Burgers, yummm), will be back later to comment on posts0 -
:flowerforyou: Kim, go right ahead and rumble. That is what we are here for.
Chris....LOOKING GOOD.
Zumba was one hot sweaty workout. 17 people had signed up for the class and 20 showed up. Can you imagine a room filled with 20, sweaty people?0 -
*LadyPersia: Thanks
*silvana: Thanks Would be very hard for me to go that long without internet at a hotel.
*tladame: Grats on the Down & Dirty Mud Run! I'm thinking of doing the Warrior Dash in January.
*Victorious_One: Grats! Maintaining is just as much work as losing. At least it is for me
*LadyPersia: Thanks Sucks about your friend and party But if you had a good time getting ready for it, then it's not a complete waste.
*crewellademel: Thanks Good luck with your Mom! Sometimes we need time to decompress before getting back into it, just don't let it be a habit
*Becky: Thanks Grats on making it to the Zumba!0 -
Chris, I am grateful that you are here. I need to see and hear from someone who has met their goal and is holding.0
-
I just stumbled into this group.... this is just what I needed... motivation! that it can be done. Mine has been moving soooo slow.0

Usually Wednesdays are rest days, along with Thursday. But decided to drop in one Cardio Day a week into my 3x per week strength training routine.
Just ran 3 miles in 33m49s on the treadmill, I'd say ~2.5 miles of that at a 6mph pace. Could probably do at a quicker time, but wasn't sure how long I should warm up. I usually do incline intervals for 20-25 minutes, but was curious what I could do with no incline. Including cool down, did 3.32 miles in 40 minutes, burned about 400 cals. What prompted this curiosity? I'm going to join some friends at work in a Warrior Dash in January Did a nice long stretch and I'm feeling pretty good at the moment!
*sara: Welcome!
*Becky: It's a Mutual Motivation Society0 -
:flowerforyou: Welcome Sara. I hope that you find the encouragement to lose and get healthy in this thread.
Chris, nice burn..400 calories !!!
I went to my strength class tonight. Forced my daughter to join me. She does just enough to make it look like she is doing something. LOL. She did the same in the Zumba class last night. I know that she really doesn't want to be doing this but I am hoping that that wonderful feeling after exercising will grab a hold of her and she will begin to love it.0 -
Hi This is ALF (Annette) do you remember me???? LOL How is everyone doing? I've really missed you guys!!!! Well, family visit went great!!! My parents left yesterday and arrived safely in Puerto Rico. Now everything is back to normal, whatever that is. LOL But after all that much fun I was left with a cold and overly tired!!!!! I am still teaching Zumba, dont know how, but not doing anything else right now. Trying to catch up some sleep, at least working on it cause I feel very congested at night and can hardly breathe. I also need to get back to my healthy diet.
Good to see so many new members!! Welcome!!!
Swiss, you are so sweet, thank you for messaging me.
Chris, I love your halloween costume. LOL I also went out the Sat before Halloween, it was fun!!! Also on Halloween trick or treating with my granddaughter.
Crewel, sure, let me know about your plans!!!! I am celebrating my bday on Nov 11, would be great if you can join us.
Gotta go now but I am hoping I can post regularly now!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Good morning and Happy Friday!
The Bears got into the garbage again....so much fun! When hunting season starts here they seem alittle crazier than usual.
I am feeling better today- thank you for your cheer. Exercise besides walking is close to non. Im a bit spent. Next week I will begin the c25k for the third time with a triple increase. I love that program.
I may have to buy my hubby a new treadmill the old one heheh(2 years) is still broken.
Have a great week everyone. Stay fit and hydrated.0 -
:flowerforyou: Hey Annette (alf), so glad that you are back. Sounds like you had a wonderful time. Sorry about the cold. Drink lots of water. (Like you didn't already know this. ) I wore my HRM for Zumba last night. Burned 306 calories. Then I saw where someone gave a website to have your Zumba calories calulated. It said over 500. I am going with my HRM.
:flowerforyou: LadyPersia, were do you live that there are bears around? Continue to take it easy, but do what you feel up to, so that you will get your strength back.0 -
Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle, Yeah
Work out!
Barbell Day: Squats, Seated OverHead Press, Deadlifts
Decided to workout to Opera For some reason it seems appropriate while doing heavy lifting.
Squat form still feeling good, I think I've had a break through on it. I anticipate being able to up the weight each time for a awhile.
Seated OHP felt good too. Think I can still improve my form with it though.
Deadlifts, same weight as last time, but did one more rep. That last rep was all out effort.
Dinner time! Will reply to posts later.0 -
Spent most of yesterday sleeping and most of last night throwing up At least that's over with, but I'm feeling pretty rung out. Not sure what kind of workout, if any, I will get in today0
-
Wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle wiggle, Yeah
Work out!
Hey Chis, can you explain the wiggles?
Please take it easy Chris. You need to get over whatever got ahold of you.
I have done a lot of work around the house today. The dog even got a bath.0 -
Swiss - I live in NEPA my house sits at 2000 feet above sea level surrounded by a reserve and hunting grounds. The hill (cause I seen real mountains in Alaska) across from us is Big Boulder and Jack Frost. In my pic on my profile, I have two baby cub pics that played outside our bedroom window last week.0

:flowerforyou: LadyPersia, I have to say that I envy you. What a wonderful place to live.
My husband took me to the YMCA last night. He usually goes on his own. I really enjoyed spending the time with him. I didn't have any classes so we exercised together. Today is the strength class. I always feel so great afterwards. The scales are not moving in the right direction but I do see an improvement with the way my body looks.0 -
Hello all,
Like some of you, I have been negligent in checking in and posting on a regular basis. Work has gotten so much busier suddenly, that I don't have much time for anything. I have usually here late, or traveling and then too darn tired to post anything. I have been keeping up (for the most part) with the P90X workouts. I always manage to get 4-5 days/wk in.
I was away on the weekend, but managed to workout 2/3 days and will get back at it today.
Got some great news from the chiro - there is NO degeneration or arthritis in my hip or back, so the pain I was experiencing is treatable. Having said that, the pain is virtually gone and will attempt to run again this coming weekend. I hiked 6.5 miles on Saturday and didn't have any pain at all. ....so am thinking maybe....
I'll see the chiro once more before that though, as his last treatment really helped.
I apologize, I don't have time to respond to everyone - but I did want to send hugs to Lady Persia. My goodness, when it rains it pours (or snows). And you're right - sometime we have to see someone elses life to realize ours isn't all that bad - even if it is in movie form. Still sending you hugs though. (( ))
Chirs - great costume. Which one were you?
Alf - glad to hear all the celebrations went well, but sorry to hear you are now feeling run down. Take care. :flowerforyou:
Swiss - all I can say, is you are a gem! :flowerforyou:
I know I am missing a few, and I'm sorry.
Welcome newcomers. :flowerforyou:
Have a great day all.0 -
8 minutes on the CrossRamp, then 15 minutes on the Treadmill then 46 (13+12+11+10) push ups just because. Feeling pretty good, but I can tell that my stamina isn't all the way back yet.0
