:flowerforyou: sdereski, it is a good possibility that your 3.5 pound gain is nothing but water. Did you eat a lot of salty foods? Eat clean and drink lots of water today and the weight will probably fall off quickly.

hewhoiscd, glad that your date went so well. It is nice to have someone to share with. How many squats are in one of your sets?

:flowerforyou: alf, I am glad that I am not the only one who is missing sing and stiring. Their input is always so good. Do you think you have one of those things with your shin? I can't think of what they are called. I did Yoga, Palates and Zumba all on this past Tuesday. So, yesterday, in my strength class I could really feel it. I guess I sort of over-did it.

:flowerforyou: zebras, I understand about the gym being crowded at certain times. After the first of the year we can't find a parking space anyway near the YMCA. But, by the end on January most of the exercisers have dropped out of sight.

Last day of work for me this week. I have a vacation day tomorrow. I have a total of 3.5 days to get in before the middle of December.

Good morning!! How is everyone doing!! All is well here. Thank you to all for your concern. Leg is feeling much better but then again I am taking Naproxen. Chris, I have also done the stretches and rubbing some icy hot every time I remember. I took it a little easier last night in my class, will do the same tonight. I am doing an extra class tomorrow for a group of medical staff that work with wounded warriors across the nation. I have been doing this free class for them for months now, once a month.

Swiss, have a nice day off!!!

sdereski, I agree with Swiss, it can simply be water retention. Are you weighing every day? I only weigh myself once a month. If I weigh myself everyday I would go nuts!!!! LOL

Chris, congrats on your date going well!! :)

Zebras, it would be great for you to Zumba with me!!!

I'd better go, at work. Talk to you tomorrow!! Check in day!!! :flowerforyou:

    Hello!

I got another run in yesterday! My hip gave me a bit of a problem, but not enough that I felt I had to stop. I think the secret it taking a day off between runs, which I will do.

Did yoga/pilates yesterday after running, which feels so good - helps me stretch.

I think a huge part of the overnight weight gain is water, but also the fact that I didn't run. When I run, my weight is down and stays down. I ran yesterday, and this morning, I was down 2.5 lbs from yeserday. Yes, Alf, I weigh myself everyday. I have to. It keeps me in line. If I went an entire month, I would go crazy. I do fluctuate a lot, but I look at what I ate and drank, how much exercise I did, what kind of exercise I did and can usually figure it out.

Did ab ripper x this morning, and will try and get another workout in after work. I do have a long day today, but I have also packed my food for the day.

Alf - gald to hear your leg is feeling better.

There is snow all around us, but nothing here. Highways are closed, so if you are travelling through and get stuck here, there's a good chance you won't get out til spring. That's what we tell folks anyway.

Hope you are all having a wonderful day! :flowerforyou:

Good morning and happy Friday. My mother fell yesterday and I am torn. We need an intervention because she will not sell her huge house that she only uses two rooms of and lives in Hilton head which I cannot afford. The public school are horrible and I couldnt afford it. She doesnt want to move here because it is too cold. HEHE my brother lives in Alaska....HEHE
My oldest used to live with her (for three years) when my father got really sick and since he past, my son wants to live his life. On top of all of this my mother is immensely difficult...sometimes down right mean. People dont last when they come to work with her soooooooo....My stress level is through the roof. No matter what we do there will be sacrifices on both our parts. My mothers property taxes and homeowners totals 14000 a year...lol....I am a minimalist and I think I waste alot. I dont know what to do.

Hugs to everyone! Have a great day!

Barbell Day: Seated Overhead Press and Deadlifts. Decided that doing Squats 3 times a week isn't going to work for me with 5k run training. So, will do squats once or twice a week instead and see how that goes.

Weighed in at 170lbs this morning. Lost 3 to 4 pounds the past couple weeks while my goal is to gain, lol. Ever since I was sick, even though I am perfectly fine now, I just can't seem to get into the habit of eating a lot of food again.

LadyPersia, ((((((HUGS))))))) Sorry to hear about your mom and the stress her situation is causing you. I know you care about your mom but if her stubborness is causing you this much stress it might be just better for you to let it go. I am not saying to forget about her but just let her do what she wants to do, after all, she is an adult and can make decisions for herself. And there is also so much you can do being away from her. Does she have good friends that could talk to her and she might listen to them? Did she get hurt when she fell? I know that area is very expensive, my sister lives in Bluffton but has her studio in Hilton Head. I hope everything gets better for you and your mom.

sdereski, taking a day from running might be a good idea. Running can be very hard on your body. I love running but when I ran often, every other day or so, I had achy knees and hips. I actually have an anterior labrum tear on my left hip and cartilage damage. I havent ran since late 2009. My knees really dont hurt much anymore, sometimes, that is normal being my age and being so active. Have you tried weighing yourself once a week?

Chris, you might be at a good weight for your body frame.

I'd better go, my husband is inviting me to go to lunch and shoppping hee hee it cant get better than that. He is even dressed up and smelling good, all ready to go. LOL So gotta go get ready. Have a great weekend everyone!!! :flowerforyou:

Hello everyone.... Another busy week. I went on my moms errands to help her get them done in the short amount of time she was able to get for someone to "babysit" her husband. She bought a lot of stuff for our thanksgiving feast so I wouldn't have to. That was extremely nice because I usually buy the bulk of it but this year.... There's no way I could do that.

Helped my brother move in his heavy stuff while his wife was at work. Boy my arms are sore today. But that's a good thing.

Went to Nevada last Monday and Tuesday, I think we got a lot accomplished. Most importantly while we were there we learned the condo we bought in 92 had not been recorded correctly. Hadn't been for the past 3 sales before us. So another womans name was on title. Even though we do own it it showed her as legal owner and us as the mailing address.... Took a lot of running around and paperwork but thankfully that's been fixed. What was even better was the people at both county departments we had to work with. They were both so supportive that what was supposed to cost us $250+ dollars ended up being only $19....

Lady Persia..... I'm sorry your having issues with your mom. I know it must be difficult to leave a place you've called home but if she needs extra care and can't provide it for herself then she needs to realize that she has no choice. My mother is starting to get what I'd like to call....."old age syndrome". Where they are rude beyond belief. She went to a restaurant and there was some mold on the bread.... Yes, gross.... Yes, make a complaint... But to yell at the top of her lungs then proceed to throw that sandwich in the persons face!!!!! Uncalled for...... When I called her out on it she just used the excuse, I'm too old to keep being pushed around. Really?????

Alf.... Have fun shopping with the hubby. As for your leg, have you tried tylonal precise cream? That stuff is amazing. My step sister who has fibromyalga told me about it.

Hewhoiscd.... Congrats on the weight loss... Are you trying to lose weigh still?

I tried on some Levi 511 Skinny jeans this morning, and they fit :) So, I bought them...now I have to convince myself to wear them in public :D

My cardio today was my Date :D We walked around a Wildlife Reserve for about 3 hours this afternoon.

*Tron: No, I'm actually trying to gain weight, muscle weight anyway. Sounds like you've been very busy/productive!

*Alf: I think I am at a good weight for my frame actually. But I want more of the weight to be from muscle and less of it from fat :D Happy shopping!

LadyP: I feel for you :( Hopefully she will come around!

sdereski: glad running is getting better for you!

*Becky: For squats, I usually do 3 sets of 5 to 7 reps each. I try to make it so that the weight is high enough (sadly low, lol) so that I can just barely be able to do the final rep in each set.

Treadmill Run: 3 miles in 29m16s. I wondered how I would do after my three hour walk yesterday, did better than I thought I would. Getting faster every week :)

    Hello all,

Chris - you are looking mighty slim man. Wear those skinny jeans proudly! You have worked so hard, you deserve to show off.

Alf - your hubby sounds like a smart man - taking his wife for lunch AND shopping!! Sounds like a keeper to me.

Tron - glad you got that stuff straightened out. Wow - that's quite a mix up on the condo.

LadyPersia - sorry to hear about all the issues and concerns over your mom. ((((HUGS))))

Swiss - good job on keeping up with your classes.

I had a sluggish weekend. Yesterday was horrible. I didn't even get dressed which is sooo unlike me. Kept telling myself I was going to get off that couch and workout, but I didn't. Today was a better day. Went to the gym and did some strength training and then went for a short run with a newbie runner. We ran/walked, but still felt good to be out there. Weather is supposed to be on the mild side all week, so great for running.

    Have a great night. :flowerforyou:

:flowerforyou: AWW, sdereski, I think that it is good for us to take an occasional break. Glad that you are back to it.

hewhoiscd, you are such an inspiration.

:flowerforyou: alf, I love stories of couples having fun together. It brings you so much closer.

I have not been here much because I am simply too busy. Supervisor is out and that leaves me with a lot more work. I also noticed at another thread that a lot of people are missing. Maybe just tied up with the holidays. Anyway, I love reading all that you post.

    Hello!

Quiet obard. I'm sure you're right Swiss, everyone must be busy getting ready for your holidays. It's a regular ol' weekend for me in Canada. Our Thanksgiving was last month.

Chris - did you ever think you would have the problem of losing weight when you were trying to gain? Only in my dreams.

Got up early this morning and did my CardioX workout. I hate getting up, but love the fact that my workout is done for the day. If I end up doing anything else after work, it's bonus.

Having another good day so far food wise. Do have a long day again - it's French class tonight, so I won't get home til 9.

Hope you are all having a good day. :flowerforyou:

Interval Elliptical: 30 minutes for 400 cals. Was going to do a 5k on the treadmill, but it was in use. But got a good work out in on the Elliptical :)

Wore my Levi 511 jeans to work today and to my date tonight for Mini-Golf. I was surprised by how comfy they were to wear all day, think I'll get more, but in different colors.

*silvana: lol, ironic isn't it :) Good job on the Cardio X!

Chris - so glad you wore those jeans!! You need to strut your stuff while there is stuff to strut is what I say.

Did my back & bicep workout yesterday morning and then did a 5km run after work. Was supposed to do my yoga this morning, but I slept in and didn't get it in. I sure hope I feel up to it tonight. Hate missing the workouts. Yoga is so long though 90 minutes! UGH!

All the snow we got last week is melting away just beauituflly! It's been a nice mild week. Hope this weather lasts for a while.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you celebrating today.:flowerforyou:

Treadmill: 3 miles in 28m56s :) Over a minute quicker than when I ran it two days ago. No A/C in the fitness room today AND I forgot my towel, lol. I am SOAKED.

sdereski: lol. Sometimes I just did the 1st 45 minutes or so of the Yoga X on one day, and the last half on the rest day.

This morning I got a helmet, so now I'm ready for my Inline Skates and Pads when they get here on Wednesday :)

Then I went to Busch Gardens Tampa. Walked 4.5 miles over about 3 hours and burned 500 calories. Took some pics, you can see them here:

  • hi everyone! I've missed you! My life has been a roller coaster. I have had so much going on with my Mother.....she is gaining lives and I am loosing lives. She had additional strokes while visiting with me (brought her up for my dau's college graduation), and then she fell thru my laundry room door broke her wrist, congestive heart failure followed, 2 additional strokes. I finally got her back to AL and she declined even more! I was 3 days away from leaving (was about to have to bring her back up north w/me-she cld not function-total brain shut down) when her leg was in pain to touch, put sock on! Did ultra sound of her leg and it was totally blocked! Prayed about doing operation-did it and she survived-no additional strokes-her circulation is bk and she is thinking sooooo much better. We go thurs to hv the staples removed and then next weekend I will be driving bk hm by myself.
I have missed the gym for a month! My eating has been stress eating and I have gained-not a ton but enough to hurt. When I get bk my gf and I are kicking butt to get in shape..Lady P: I certainly understand your stress level-when I return hm I think I am going for a stress test-my heart can't take all this.t! Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving-healthy one!:flowerforyou:

Hello everyone!!! MIA again! But I am back, at least for today!!! I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Mine was good, quite at the house. We decided this year to stay home and cook. My brother, his wife and baby came over and also my daughter and my granddaughter. It was nice. We are still eating leftovers of course. LOL

Sdereski, lovely picture. You are so pretty. Keep up the good work with P90X!!! :drinker:

Swiss, thank you for keeping up with this thread. There are tons of people missing. :noway: I did hear from Stiring. She is doing well, She has been very busy. I am worried about Sing though. I have not heard from him at all!! He usually replies to my emails and nothing...I hope he is ok as well as his family. This is the time that most of us get very busy or just kinda lazy...

Tron, good to hear from you. How is your brother and family doing?

    Lady Persia ((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))

Pepper, wow, it's been a while. Good to hear from you although sad to hear you have been through so much with your mom. Glad to hear she is doing better. I cannot even imagine what she has been through and you having to deal with all that. Take easy and return to your fitness routines slowly but consistently. Working out will definitely help with the stress.

Chris, ROCK those skinny jeans. I will check out your pics.

    Have a great evening! :flowerforyou:

Haven't done a 60 minute run for awhile. Been doing research on run training and they suggest at least once a week doing an easier paced longer run. Yes...despite my best intentions, I am being sucked into the world of running :D

Today's Treadmill Workout: My weekly slow long "run", 4.36 miles in 60 minutes. For you runners, does that seem about right? I tried to keep my BPM around 150, usually stayed between 145 and 155. My cals burned calculator says I did ~750 cals. I feel good, like I could go another hour or more :)

*alf: I'm trying :D Glad your Thanksgiving was enjoyable :)

*pepper: wow! What a time you have all had!

    Hello all,

My goodness pepper, I am so sorry to hear all that you have been through with your mom. As Alf said, the exercise will help deal with the stress, but take it easy, and take care of yourself. ((()))

Alf - thank you. :flowerforyou: I am still doing the P90X. Was at the Chiro's on Friday, and he said "no running for 2 weeks". Thank goodness I have P90X!!

Chris - that does sound right for a slow, easy run. The fact that you could have gone for another hour also says it as well.

Not too much else to report. Did my kempo workout this morn and worked up a great sweat. Tomorrow is chest & back and ab ripper. Love the ab ripper.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

I have started my Christmas shopping, but slowly. Will now try and get myself ready for the Christmas holidays.

Have a great night all - watching my one of my favourite movies - Love Actually.

:flowerforyou: sdereski, what is ou favorite movie? You didn't say. Yesterday I found a station on my satellite TV called Retroplex. It shows all old movies. The kind that my husband and I can both enjoy.

hewhoiscd, I hate to admit it but I hate running. Mainly because I am so clumbsie. I am sure that I would injure myself. Glad to see that you are enjoying it. Keep it up.

:flowerforyou: Annette, I have been terrible about not responding also. But, you now have me worried about sing. I know that he will disappear for days or weeks at a time, but if you can't get an answer from a message, then I wonder. Praying that all is well with him.

My goodness Pepper, You are under so much stress. Not good for a person. Please remember to take care of yourself.

I missed two days of exercising last week. One because of going to visit a college with my daughter and the other because I had to work over. I did make up some of it last night. I don't usually visit the Y on Sundays but my husband talked me into it. I am planning on getting back to at least five-one hour sessions a week.

:flowerforyou: sdereski...LMAO..I thought that the "Love Actually" was part of your statement. You know..as in you actually love that movie.

I discovered that Retroplex shows old movies with violence and nudity. Found this out the hard way last night. Too bad they can't stick to Doris Day movies.

I am still up 2 to 3 pounds from Thanksgiving. I went to the strength class last night. I love them so much. They make me feel so good.
