Pavement Run: 1 mile in 8m20s.
First time running in the real world and not on the treadmill. Hardest thing for me was getting into a consistent pace. I was all over the place. Ran way too fast for the first 1/4 mile. You will laugh, but it felt "unnatural" to run on the pavement instead of on the treadmill
*LP: Happy Anniversary!
*Tron: Glad your son is doing well!
I felt the same way the first time I hit the street. Almost burned myself in the first three minutes...LOL
Thank you for my anniversary wishes. We had an awesome day. I ate about 20-40 oz of meat...LOL only 3 oz of Flan so I was proud of myself0 -
I hope Sing is ok. But who will open the next forum when we hit page 20?? I'm beginning to panic...ROFL
40+ and addicted to my friends on MFP0 -
:flowerforyou: sdereski, I totally agree with you about these groups. There is a lady in one of them who has to explain how they work every day. There is someone always asking what is going on.
What page are we on now? I am thinking about 17. Do we always begin a new one after 20 pages?0 -
Perhaps alf can begin a new thread for us. But, she hasn't been here in seven days. I am not concerned about her as she is one busy lady.0
-
Well, HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I heard a little birdie speaking about me...I know, I know, been MIA for just a little bit...still no word from Sing, it doesnt look right to me, sorry. Dont want to sound negative but that is not him. I can definitely start the new thread when we hit pg 20 or any of us...I know most of you think that Sing started this thread and I do give him credit for starting the new ones etc but I was the person who started this thread about 3 yrs ago. I was just tired of being in threads that I could not relate to the 20yr olds...people in their 40's and beyond have different struggles when it comes to weight loss and other personal matters so I started this thread. And we are here to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :drinker:
Yes, as Swiss said I am a busy bee but all of us are!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very proud of all of you for keeping up with your health and fitness goals while also taking care of work and family.
I am at work, but just wanted to say HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! or HOLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Take care! :flowerforyou:0 -
Pavement Run (Lunch): 2 miles in 19m29s. Today was supposed to be a long slow run. But I didn't have time for that. So, I compromised and did a medium paced medium distance run.0

Good Afternoon All,
just a quick note to say "hello".
I had a productive day at work and am slowly getting ready to leave for the day. It is snowing outside - big, heavy, wet flakes. I would love to run outside, but the roads are an absolute mess! It may be the treadmill. I shouldn't complain - just be happy I can RUN!
My plan was to bake some cookies last night after I got home from my workout, but I didn't. Carried in some wood, vacuumed the house and then parked my butt. hate being lazy! :grumble: I have so much to do, and only so many days to do it in. Oh, I did manage to wrap a few gifts, so I guess I didn't do too bad.
DH and I are off to SSM tomorrow to do the last of our Christmas shopping. Sure hope the roads are good. I cannot believe how many times the highway has been closed this winter alread....and it is not officially winter yet!
So, ladies, the plan is to bake those cookies tonight! I wouldn't really bother, but my son and his girlfriend are coming home for the holidays, so I would like to have somethings around.
Hope you are all having a wonderful day. Remember to take care of yourselves during the crazy, busy time. :flowerforyou:

Hi!! Been awhile since I checked in with this thread, sorry!
Let's see....it got cold, I quit bootcamp (5am outside in the pitch dark freezing cold? No thanks!), went to the gym for awhile but the treadmill really beats me up, I ended up with my left hip kinda locked up and really painful. So, now I'm doing Insanity..eek! The workouts are crazy but it still feels luxurious to be in my living room
I hope everyone here is hale & happy and having a wonderful holiday season!0 -
i'm here too .0

Had to take my son to see the surgeon today. He was coughing the other day and said it hurt his incision near his belly button. Yesterday he said it felt like a burning sensation, and today he was throwing up. They checked to make sure nothing was protruding out which was painful for my poor son then told me he probable ripped a stitch and there was some bleeding but call and let them know how he is tomorrow. What else can ya do but watch and make sure he's comfortable. He's wanting to go with his uncle on the 11th to learn how to put in fire sprinklers. I'm wondering if he will even be healed enough to lift the pipes.
Other than that we rented out a house that wasn't even listed yet today! So happy to bet some extra cash because we sure had had a few extra bills pop up recently. And I think we might have sold another in nevada but that belongs to a separate account with a business partner. Still exciting though.0 -
I just found this thread. Glad to see it here0

:flowerforyou: tron, congrats on the financial good news. I would be worried about your son. Keep a close eye on him.
sofaking6, Insanity? Wow, from all the I have heard it is quite a workout. Good for you for doing it. :flowerforyou:
:flowerforyou: Welcome SeaSiren1.
:flowerforyou: Sylvana, I wouldn't worry too much about being lazy and not making the cookies. You also didn't eat those cookies. Did you get them made the next day? Where do you live that the roads are so bad already? Hope you got your shopping done.
I am buying a few things for my girls at the company store. My husband isn't much into Christmas so we don't buy a lot. I am planning on getting him Alton Brown's latest book but I am not looking to receive anything myself. He loves Alton Brown. Records his program every day.0 -
Swiss - I live in Northern Ontario, Canada. Yes, the roads were horrible. Yesterday we got more heavy wet snow and then it froze solid last night. Does not make for good driving.
I also live about 7 miles outside of town - 3 of which are on a dirt road. It's the dirt road that is really bad. Highway was good this morning.
And yes, I got the cookies made last night and I ate 1.
Packed them up and put them in the freezer this morning!! Out of sight, out fo mind! Right?! :laugh:0 -
Happy Friday!!!! Check in day!!! Well, I want to say I started "lifting" again!!! :drinker: Not too heavy right now and just short workouts until the end of the year and the schedule goes back to normal, whatever that is. But I am really happy about it. I really needed to get back to it. Still teaching my Zumba classes. At one location they are still going pretty strong but at another one, the one on the military base, attendance has reduced considerably. People have all kinds of excuses during this time to stop exercising so... I am planning on cancelling my classes at this location the week after Christmas to give myself a break and spend more time with family. Hopefully they will pick back up after New Year. Eating wise, yep, eating everything in sight.  not really, it is not too bad, but it can be better.
Tron, I hope your son is feeling better today. congrats on renting one of your houses!!! :drinker:
sdereski, you only ate one cookie???? Hey, that is not bad!!!! Great job in keeping up with your routine!!!
Welcome to the new members!!!! SeaSiren, is that you in the picture?
Well, better go!!! At work... weekend plans, going out with hubby on Sat evening, celebrating our anniversary, 22 yrs of marriage!! Not bad! Actually 24 yrs together, this past Oct. :drinker:
Take care!!! :flowerforyou:0 -
Good Day Everyone
Busy busy...SLow down and take a deep breath with me. Hold it for a 30 second count:) Hugs
Going to moms next friday. It will be interesting, just taking the days one at a time. Missing my Dad. Shopping is almost done and I am excited about that because I usually wait until the 24th. I have been baking all day today and I only ate one cookie out of 64 so far. Good ratio.....I also did knee lifts and marches around the kitchen while I waited...LOL
Welcome newbies and from the last post great workout!! I am running in the street at my moms so I have been practicing pacing myself.....Looking forward to the 75 degree weather. Even if its 60 I will be happy!

<<<---Got myself a pair of compression recovery leg sleeves. They work a treat
Treadmill (with 5 minute elliptical warmup beforehand): 0.5 miles at 6.7mph, 0.25 miles at 3mph, 0.25 miles at 7.8mph, 0.25 miles at 3mph, 0.25 miles at 8mph, then 0.25 miles at 3mph. I was thinking about doing a long skate tomorrow, but it would probably be better to give my shins/calves a rest. Been working them hard lately.
Was going to lay out by the pool today, but lost track of time doing other stuff.
Donna: Welcome! You know you can do it0 -

Hello Everyone,
Just found this thread today.
I am part of the FitBit tester group
I am loving this site so far.
I signed up awhile back but just really started using the site a few days ago.
I use to run about 50 miles a week but now due to injuries i run about 3 miles a day on the treadmill. Some days i walk/run depending on my knee. I found this get i-pad app that looks like you are running outside. I really love it.
I also weight train and do yoga.
I need to lose about 15 pounds. At one time i weighed 220 and that is a lot for 5'2. Now i am 135. My lowest was 121 with Weight Watchers a couple of years ago.
Well i am off to lift..Check back in later0 -
Good Morning , I just found this thread. I turned 40 this year and I'm loving it.0

I had to take my son to the dr to get his stitches out today. Last night he got all these red dots all over his belly, chest, and lower back. This morning it spread to his neck, face, and arms (I didn't check lower). First thing I thought of was staph infection. Turns out the kid has German measles! Reallyy?!!!! Guess its really rare because of immunizations but looks like that didn't help him. Now he has to stay away from anyone pregnant. Gives him an excuse not to go to his aunts house on Christmas eve. It's not his favorite place to go.
I finally fixed all my Christmas lights from the wind storm. Took me awhile but I've been a tad busy with my sick child.
Workout has consisted of moving a lot of wood that came from the fallen trees.
Welcome to all the newcomers! Great to have you join us!0 -
Hi all,
welcome to all the newcomers!!! Wow, so many of you all at once. Wonderful to see you all.:flowerforyou:
Didn't workout all weekend. Left to go Christmas shopping right after work on Friday and shopped til 10:30.
Was up Saturday morning for an appointment and then hit the stores once again. By 3:30 I was beat! We did our last minute stuff and then headed home. We arrived by 10.
Sunday was spent getting caught up with laundry, baking, cards, wrapping, etc. Still so much work to do.
I've been trying to do a little each day, and I am making headway, but the days are running out.
worked out after work. Did some circuit training and then a treadmill run. Felt pretty good, but was getting tired the last 15 minutes of the run.
I was very good food wise today - I really need to lose some of the flab!! I feel I am working my butt off, but do not see a change in my body.:grumble:
Hope tomorrow is a good day as well.
I have been invited to a community dinner for volunteers. So, am planning on running right after the event.
Rick Hanson is passing through town tomorrow and it's all part of honouring volunteers in the community.
Alf - good job on starting to lift again.:flowerforyou:
Tron - so sorry to hear about your son. He certainly has had his share of health issues this year. Poor thing.
Chris - love my compression socks - but I love my compression leggings more!!! I gotta wear leggings where I live as it's a tad cold for shorts this time of year.
Have a great night all. :flowerforyou:0
