I think it's misleading to post a picture of an avatar, etc. as yourself on a weight loss web site. I think we're here to be honest about our true selves and what we need to work on. Thoughts?

    Misleading???

Just because YOU think people should face "our true selves" doesn't mean everyone is ready to.

And who the hell cares if I'm "half naked" in my bikini! I worked my @ss off for that pic!

I would appreciate being treated with the same politeness I used in my OP. I merely stated my thoughts, and asked for thoughts...not attacks.

She did not attack you in any way shape or form.

I classify being spoken to in expletives as offensive.

Let me clarify-- I'm referring to pictures of CARTOON characters. How is that inspiring to anyone?

Why do you assume anyone's profile picture needs to be inspirational? Come on, now. This is silly.

Well, I would but I don't think it was polite at all to call people dishonest for posting an avatar for their profile pic. Especially when you have no idea their motivation behind it. Implying that they are hiding from facing their true selves and avoiding working on, "what we need to work on" is way off base and frankly, unfair.

It's my avatar, and I'll put what I want. Yes, even if it's a peanut making nut-butter, it's my choice. I don't pick my avatars to please you, thank you very much.

Finally! THOUGHTS, like I asked for. Thank you.

Expletives? I can't find a single one in her post.

I never claimed my pic was inspiring to anyone. But then again it's a video game character, not a cartoon.

Referring to an earlier post where someone was talking about their profile pic as being inspirational.

I didn't realize the point of profile pics was to inspire. I thought it was to say something about ones self. There is a section for Success Stories, and there are blogs. You can post inspiring pics there. A profile pic is part of introducing yourself, and if someone wants to be seen as cute, funny, sexual, deranged, or whatever, to attract like people, then nothing wrong with a cartoon a cat, or a pair of cool socks, IMO.

    Maybe I missed the point.

    1. I said misleading, not honest.
    2. I asked for thoughts, not rudeness.
    3. I have a job, so I'm going anyone who wants to let this ruin their day have at it, while I go back to making money.

Honestly? Its my page and I can put up whatever floats my boat, so long as it isn't breaking any forum rules. I put up pics of my cat, and other funny pictures because I find them cute, they make me laugh, whatever.
I know what I look like and I see me everyday in the mirror, so if i don't want that reminder on here, than its my right. I think even being on here, and logging food and workouts is being honest with ourselves or we wouldn't be here. :flowerforyou:

    Truly, ask yourself this question....

If I was blind...would it matter what someone looked like?

Get off of your prejudices. Accept people for who they are and start enjoying their company.

Not at all as long as it is a non-cartoon, non-revealing, acceptable to every person picture. I fail to see the problem.

I do think people are being overly sensitive here, you can state your opinion without being hostile. It's just a picture.

My opinion is people put up whatever they want to represent themselves, whether that be a photo of them or a graphic. If we want to inspire, we can post in the success story section. If I felt like putting a graphic up I would, but I don't. I don't care if others do either, since they probably have 10 other pictures on their profile anyways.
