Hey guys, here's a quick NSV: I set a goal to work out at least four times a week. I mean really work up a sweat. It's the end of Wednesday, and I've already worked out three times this week. So perhaps I'll get in more than my goal. Woo Hoo!!

Hey group...since I was treated for Lyme Disease this summer, I haven't been able to lose weight. For the last month, my hair has also been falling out. I called and made an appointment to see my doctor next week because they think it could be my thyroid. So, I guess that could explain why I haven't been able to lose any weight, as well! I am always tired, too. But, as you fellow moms know, it is tiring to be a mommy and work. So, I just attributed my exhaustion to that. Anywho, feeling a little bit better because maybe this is why I haven't been losing any weight! Hopefully I will get some answers before I go bald.

Hey, Good luck with your thyroid! are you in the US? make sure that when you see the doctor he is doing ALL the bloodwork (TSH, free t3 free t4 and antibodies) sometimes they just do the first one and call it good, but that's not how it works!
AND don't listen to them if they tell you your symptoms are just from being a mom and being busy. That's just rubbish, if you feel like something is wrong then be persistent. After my daughter was born I had symptoms and it turned out to be a cyst on my thyroid, it was drained and I was better for awhile. THen after my son was born, I could feel something aound my thyroid again. My doctor couldn't feel anything, but I insisted on having an ultrasound, they found a toonie-size tumor! It as solid with calcification, so it had to be taken out. My doctor, my endo, and my head and neck surgeon couldn't feel it, but it was there.
Now I have half a thyroid left and there is a tumor growing on that half! It's likely in the next couple of years I'll get that side removed too, but I'll cross that bridge when we get there.
Anyway all of this rambling is to say that doctors often dismiss thyroid symptoms, and you have to fight for yourself. If you feel like there is truly something wrong, don't leave them alone until they get to the bottom of it :) Do lots of reading before you go to the doctor too, they accepted range has changed and make sure that the lab your doctor uses is using the current information!
    Good luck

awww :( you have to treat your body right ((hug))
I eat quite a lot more than a lot of people on here (about 1650 a day before exercise) I figure I was eating A LOT more than that before and maintaining my heavier weight and maybe creeping up VERRRRY slowly 10 lbs slowly over the past 2 years or so I def. need more than 1200 cals I could never live off of that!

ps good luck at cheer! I loved it when I was younger!

Updating on NSV and weigh in.

I was planning to weigh in this morning--it's Friday. I always take the day before weigh in off from exercise, so my body can flush out some of the extra fluid in my joints, and so I can watch Project Runway. Well, I went to the doctor yesterday to get the results of my bloodwork. In addition to all the good news about my health, my doctor said, "You look amazing." I was so happy, I could have hugged her. In fact, I was so happy, when I got home I went out for a run. It started out as a walk, and ended with a run. Really, these are words I never thought I would write about myself.

So, delaying my weigh in by a day really was worth all that happiness. I'll check in tomorrow. Until then, everyone have a great day!

I didn't have Lyme Disease, but in 2010 I noticed that my hair was thinning. I've always had a ton of hair and watching it come out in massive quantities every morning was quite scary. I wasn't seriously trying to lose weight at the time and I wasn't grossly overweight at the time. However, it was my thyroid. I've been on medication for a year and half now. It took a few months to get my levels right, but the hair loss stopped and over the last six months, the pounds have been coming off (now that I'm serious about it).

Incredibly frustrated that for the second week in a row I have not lost any weight, but I haven't gained either, just maintained! I have continued to exercise for 45-60mins each day and have been staying under my calories. :-( Oh well...here's to this week bringing some progress!!!

Good luck with your appointment. I became diagnosed with hypothyroidism after having my first child. I initially lost a good amount of baby weight & suddenly put it all back on and then some. I was also more tired that just the normal "new mommy" syndrome! They found that I had a goiter on my thyroid and it continues to be monitored by ultrasound every year to ensure it doesn't grow too large to be removed. Also, I see an actual endo as I feel it is important to see a specialist for this. I see her every 6 months and my blood is drawn/levels tested. I've been stable on the same med dosage for about 2 years now. She insists that since my levels are maintained by my meds, it no longer has anything to do with my inability to lose weight. I just think it is much harder now for me probably due to several factors (how much weight I gained, age, other medical issues). One thing is for sure, I have to MAKE myself continue to be motivated! Even with my meds I can fall into periods of time where I am just REALLY tired! I pretty much have to constantly keep moving and doing something! Keep us posted!!! We are here to support you through this! =)

    Hi Everyone,

Since this is a group for busy moms, I thought I'd share my current read, "I'd listen to my parents if they'd just shut up."

Really, this is the name of the book. Now, I know this is a group for busy moms, but this read is worth your time. I'm about 1/3 into the book, and trying some of the suggestions out on my daughter, and they really work. The intensity and length of time arguing with my daughter is down by about 1/3. It will be interesting to see if my daughter responds to my changes in talking with her over time.

Here's a link to the book if you are interested. http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/id-listen-to-my-parents-if-theyd-just-shut-up-anthony-wolf/1100151806?ean=9780061915451&itm=1&usri=i%2bwould%2blisten%2bto

I hope you are all having a great Monday!
