So I am planning on getting my very first tat very soon...on my inside right wrist I am going to get the day I started MFP and my starting weight. It is my personal reminder to never forget where I started...so on those bad days I can see it right there.
So tell me about your tats and the ones you want to get....

I have one on the inside of my left wrist. It's a claddagh. My cousin and I both got one, she got a more elaborate one on her foot. We've been talking about getting it for about 6 years. It's hands holding a heart with a crown over it, and the hands mean friendship, the heart means love and the crown means loyalty. My mom's side is Irish, and very, very proud Irish, so I was raised to be very proud of my Irish roots. We got it for our family.0

I have 4 as well. I have a hibiscus on my foot, by my left kidney i have a design that a teammate did for me, it's a heart with basketball lines (hard to explain), on my back I have angel wings with my Dad's initials in the middle and a halo above his initials, and on my left arm (like the cap of my shoulder) I have a big dahlia that I want to add to and make a half sleeve with all the favorite flowers of my family.0

I've posted this before so I may be boring people...
But I want a tat of a black line vertically down the back of my legs, reminiscent of vintage stockings.0 -
I have the Tree of Life on my foot. Nothing to do with religion, everything to do with evolution and humanity, and my belief in the connectedness of all of us, where we come from, and how we treat one another.
I am planning to get the happy humanist symbol somewhere (maybe inside of wrist, although that would be brave!).0 -
I have a tattoo on my right calf of a skull and crossbones but it is a cat skull. I got it because at the time I felt like I was poison but have realized over the past 4 years that it wasn't me that was poison but the people I let into my life... I love it either way and planning on getting a matching one on my left calf but with a bow0

I have two tattoos currently:
On my right hip--The Cartier Jaguar for independence...it symbolizes the first trip I took independently without my parents/family. I went to NYC right around Christmas a took a picture of the Cartier building with the jaguar climbing it.
On my left side over my ribs-- My last initial surrounded by the first initial of everyone else in my immediate family for family...my mom and my sister have the same tattoo in different places. We got them on the same day. I almost passed out it hurt so bad going over the bones of my rib cage.
I have another planned. My wedding decal (a fleur de lis) with our wedding date (1-22-11) on my right wrist for commitment. My wife is getting the same one.
In total it will complete a circle around me for my Independence, my Family, and my chosen Life Partner.0 -
I have two---one on the inside of my ankle that I got in college. It's a frog in a cattail hammock. I never planned to get a tattoo--I went with a friend who was getting one but I saw the frog and loved it and I still love it now.
I also have a black tribal looking thing on my lower back that I got the year after I graduated college and I wish I wouldn't have gotten that one. Oh well.
I want one more though--can't decide where though. I don't know exactly what I want either--I just know I want something that involves my three kids.0 -
I have one right now and I have a pic of it in my profile pics. I want to get one on the top of my foot and I would like one more somewhere with my boy's names.0
-
I have 2 so far. I have a treble and bass clef heart on my left shoulder. I'm a music major, so you can see why. =] I also have the words "Serenity. Courage. Wisdom." and some footprints on my right foot as a reminder of the Serenity Prayer.
God, grant me the Serenity
To accept the thing I cannot change
The Courage to change the things I CAN
And the Wisdom to know the difference.0 -
i have three - one on my calf that I got eons and eons ago of the Chinese symbol for the five great blessings, one of my astrology sign with my and my daughters' birthdays around it on my upper arm (got those two about 18 yrs ago, they are not so pretty anymore), and a half arm one that has two avatars from EverQuest book-ending a row of books with my university graduation dates.
I am planning a 4th one to celebrate the end of my phd - will be part of a scrabble board with some meaningful interconnected words and symbols ...0 -
I have 8 total
my 2 daughters name on my wrist.
my husband name on my ring finger and my neck ( neck was a cover up dont recomend the neck )
2 flowers on left sholder blade
2 sparrows on my right thigh with wedding bands in between them my name over the top
binkie on my right calf
and a pink butterfly on top of my right foot0 -
Let's see...tat number 1 is a rose on my arm with my initials, simply because I didn't have the money to get what I wanted, but I knew I had to get something AT THAT MOMENT! I'm not a put it off kind of girl. Working in a school at 36, I wish I wouldn't have gotten it on my forearm, but you don't think too well at 17.
Tat number 2&5 is the bird of paradise that takes up most of my shoulder. It started as just the outline for almost 2 years, and then I had banners, clouds, and color added with my girls' names and DOB.
Tat number 3 is the butterfly on my breast. The girls are of a size almost too difficult to cover up completely, so I decided to make them more pretty with decoration. Oh, and I love butterflies for many reasons, but especially because of them signifying change and transformation. I learned while studying in Mexico that the Aztecs believed "good" women were reincarnated as butterflies and good warriors were reincarnated as hummingbirds.
Tat number 4 is a butterfly and a rose on my leg. No other reason than the fact that it was pretty, and I was bored at work. So, I left my post, walked down to the tat parlor and sat there for an hour. Yeah, i didn't work there for too much longer...lol
All of them were done between the ages of 17 & 20. I have a plan for one when I get closer to goal, but I'm not revealing it until it's a done deal ;-)0 -
I have three.
The first one is the world timshel. In Hebrew it means "Thou Mayest." A man's greatness is up to him and him alone.
The second one is an Audrey Kawasaki piece. It was a drawing, and I believe untitled. It's a girl with her eyes closed, and there is machinery behind her. The third one is of a Nativa American girl with this amazing head piece, and her eyes are wide and open, and her arms are lifted toward the sky. The Kawasaki piece is of who I used to be. The Native American girl is the woman I'm becoming.
I want to get a tattoo of a spine... either on my arm or right on my back. I suffered a tremendous amount of back pain the past few years. And as I conquer it and get stronger, I want to be reminded of it everyday. I never want to be in that place again.0 -
I have one on each wrist. "No Lies" and "Just Love". I have a Groovy Grubworm on the top of my foot for my grandfather, Harlow Wilcox (Youtube him or the name Groovy Grubworm), I have a tribal butterfly and my daughters name on my ankle, and I have a Lily with 3 stars, and the quote "The future belongs to those to believe in the beauty of their dreams" across my chest/collar bone area0
-
I agree they are addicting for sure!!! I have 3... one on my left inside ankle (butterfly) one on my left shoulder blade (chinese writting meaning LOVE) and last one I got on my lower back (blue dragon fly) this one hurt like an SOB!!! Just saying
And NO it's not a Tramp stamp!!! LOL0 -
Right now I have an outline of the Minneapolis skyline on my wrist. When I moved from Minneapolis to Nebraska I had a "Twin Cities bucket list" and getting a tattoo at this really cool parlor I lived near was a must. Getting the Mpls skyline seemed very fitting. When I hit my goal weight, as a reward I want to get my wedding date in roman numerals on my side (probably up high, on my ribs), and then eventually the birth dates of my future children.0
-
Depending on how you count them I have 6 or 8 (2 are matched sets that were done at the same time.)
my niece's date of birth and a lotus on my inside write wrist
My niece's left and right hand print with her first and middle name in her hand writing (done when she was 3 - she is now 6) on my inner forarms - we are very close which is why she got space on my body.
Both my feet are done with "Some days just look better upside down" - Got this from a pendant my grandma gave me when I was super depressed. I figured I wouldn't always have the pendant but I should always have my feet.
A sea turtle that looks a little bit like Slash on my right collar bone - got this when my shop did a fundraiser for the Sea Turtle and bird rescue after that huge BP oil sill.
a fairy on my left shoulder blade - I just love fairies.
and a librarian zombie pinup (not done) as a front half sleeve on my left arm with the words "pretty piece of flesh" under it - love zombies, and books, and pin-ups so this kind of combined them all into one.
I also have a wizard of Oz piece I am saving for, and an underwater piece that is being saved for as well.0 -
well i'm a man, but I'd say id probably be an a cup.,.;
ohhhhh TATS....sry. no tats.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA    :laugh:0 -
I am planning a 4th one to celebrate the end of my phd - will be part of a scrabble board with some meaningful interconnected words and symbols ...
That is a totally cool idea!0 -
8 Total:
Dragon around ankle bone (Time in Japan)
Daisy on ankle (Matches my sis)
Tiger/butterfly on upper ankle (Time in Singapore)
flower/tribal ankle (I survived bootcamp)
Cat on back (in memory)
Another dragon on back (Not quite sure....)
Initials on chest (stupid, I know)
Dolphin/water (Bad cover up of initials)
Future: (if I come off blood thinners)
Navy Anchor and cannons (Time in the Navy (9 yrs) + mileage at sea...sticking with the old school tatto rules...)
Hula hoop with fire (because it saved my life/sanity)0 -
Two currently - a kitty cat on my left shoulder (yeah, I was 20 and just wanted ink...) and my sorority letters with CheerBear (pink carebear with a rainbow on the tummy) on my right calf. CheerBear was my nickname in the sorority. Some things don't change. ;-)
I want to get a memorial for my grandfather in April. It will be a reward for (hopefully) getting to my goal weight, my one year on MFP and will mark what would have been my grandfather's 90th bday. He was an avid bird watcher and had a special fondness for cardinals, so it will be a cardinal, sitting in the branches of a magnolia tree. It's going to be BIG - start in the middle of my back and come up over my right shoulder.0 -
I have 6 so far...
Japanese symbol for strong on the inside of my right wrist
Japanese symbol for humble on the inside of my left wrist
Moon on my left ankle
Crab on my right calf
FL Gators symbol on my right shoulder
My older two kids names with a design on my left shoulder
I have three more to get when I get to my goal0
