    Remember When by Alan Jackson

What Hurts the Most by Danny Gokey, he blows away whoever originally did that song

    On what planet???

Danny Gokey blowing away Rascal Flatts? :noway:

Totally, he took a mediocre country song and made it better!

Forgot all your other message board mischief, this is the post that should get you banned! :grumble:

Please do not defend country to me! This could be grounds for deletion!

I enjoy multiple genres of music, including country. In any genre, Rascal Flatts is better than Gokey.

If it wasn't for American Idol putting so much air time into his sad story, he would have never made it to the top 10. Yes, I went there!

    Your opinion? Not mine.

Tears for Fears but I like the version from Gary Jules it's on the Donnie Darko soundtrack

    "Mad World"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
    Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
    No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
    No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
    When people run in circles
    It's a very, very
    Mad World
Children waiting for the day they feel good
    Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

kinda surprised this one wasn't up here yet,

Oh and that remake by Pearl Jam- Where O Where can my baby be

Rascal Flatts vs. Gokey -- does it matter? its the message in the song that makes it sad, so the props should be given to the writer, not the singer(s)

Well, I grew up listening to country music, so...

"Love isn't Free" by Dolly Parton
"Down in the Ghetto" either Dolly or Elvis version

    I also tear up to:
    "Brick" by Ben Folds Five

Love the Gary Jules version! Sometimes the person covering the song does a better job!

Kim Richey - A Place Called Home

    Someday I'll go
Where there ain't no rain or snow
    'Till then
    I travel alone
    And I make my bed
With the stars above my head
And dream of a place called home

Used to sing this as a lullabye to my daughter. They played it on Angel after Fred died.

    Miricles by Stone Sour.

While it is obviously about someone falling out of love the chorus reminds me of how I was feeling in the final days before my mom passed. My family would talk about having faith and praying as my mom was a devout Christian. As hard as I tried I just couldn't get behind that. Miracles don't happen here.

This acoustic version makes me tear up still a year later - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=syXJvzQ2reI

I know it's corny, but "Patches" by Johnny Cash always gets to me. Also, "Operator", by Jim Croce.
