What are your standards for a friend request? Both in sending and receiving them.

JOKES!0 -
Look at you with the quick-draw-mcgraw! I knew someone would go there! Go you :drinker:0

I really don't send them often at all. I'm too afraid of rejection(such a dork)
I won't accept them unless they have a message
It's pretty widely known that it's polite to include a message
And also for the love of gravy why the hell do you request somebody you won't interact with? This irritates me.0 -
Don't look like a complete weirdo? That's about my standard hahaha0
-
I've never sent one. I have received a couple, but ended up declining. I kind of regret not accepting the requests since I end up in the forums all day anyway.0

I'm very hippie-dippy when it comes to accepting friends. If you want my friendship, you got it. No need to discriminate! That's why I have so many, and I may have to get choosy some day. But for now, I accept everyone.
When I request friendships (very rare), I always send a message.0 -
I like to have an introduction in their request. If there isn't one, I will look at their profile to try and figure out who they are and why they may want to be my friend.0
-
Sending- I always send it with a message! Where I saw them, why I want to be their friend.
I expect the same I hate getting blank friend requests from people I've never seen =/ I always feel so bad rejecting0 -

I rarely send them and I'll accept anyone who sends me a request. I'm not that picky0

I’m with VeganGal84. I always accept every friend request. I only send them if I feel I have something to contribute.0

Give me a small reason why....even if its bull****...just dont leave it blank0
-
I used to have a limit, but amazingly I've learned if you are kinda brash, crude, and have a semi-juvenile sense of humor you lose friends on a pretty common pace! Then I realized you can never have too many kick azz friends. My only requirement is only that I don't think you are a tool.0

I don't have standards. Just don't be creepy & I'll accept and support you
Okay, and maybe if you're only slightly creepy with a touch of amusing, I'll support you too.....0 -
There are standards? We are still on MFP right? Or did MFP change into a junior high or high school?0
-
I accept and send freely. Most of the time I try to send with a message if they ask for it, but it's usually just about something I read in their profile or they mentioned on a topic. Nonetheless, I hope we are all here for similar motives (to get fit), so.... in my eyes... EVERYONE IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY:)0
-
I rarely send them...I'm naughty on my wall. If I send one, that's assuming they're OK with that, which would be rude of me. I may be vulgar, but I'm not rude. At least if I receive one, whether they read my warning or not, I can't be blamed for something they get offended by.
As for accepting, it really depends on a lot of factors. Who your friends are (I won't be a mutual friend of a few users), what your message said, are you a regular forum poster...that sort of thing.
I will not be collected.0 -
I only accept them if folks include a message and on that same note when I send friend reguests I always include a short message.0
-

Same. I accept everyone. Then if it turns out they're creepy, I delete them later....when I think they won't notice.0 -
I always appreciate a note and am pretty relaxed to accepting ones without messages. Like another poster above, I'll try to figure out why they requested me. I also accept very few guy friend requests, regardless of a message or not.
Oh I also start deleting people if they haven't logged in for a month or so.0 -
I will decline them if they don't have a message...and no I don't require your life story but a "Hey...saw your comment here...we're friends with so and so" would be nice...otherwise I get the impression you didn't bother to even read my profile.
I send them out when I come across someone that I feel I can learn from and the occasional eye candy. (yeah yeah yeah what of it?!)0 -
Oh... wait, wait... you're blah blah's friend so you can't be my friend.

I have low standards. Any ol' cheeky *kitten* is fine by me. When I send a request, I always send a lil' message to go with.0
-
I'm new...so of course, I'm willing to take all the support I can get! And um...it doesn't hurt to have a few hot guys as friends0
-
I think thus far I have accepted all of them, but I do appreciate a message. I also have very few men in my friend list, it feels more comfortable to talk about these things with other chicks. I *will* delete a person if they haven't logged in for several months.
Regarding sending requests, I don't do it often either. I usually request to people who seem really in need of encouragement, or on occasion because they are starting a challenge I'm interested in following.
When it comes to selecting friends, I like people who are somewhat similar to me demographically and weight-wise. Maybe not their current weight, but somewhere in a similar journey. Similar age-range, and I also like supporting people who are a few years younger than me and might need more encouragement.
Overall, I like to encourage people and I like it when they encourage me!0 -
I only know when someone has de-friended me because I try to keep an eye on my number of friends because I don't want to have 200+ friends where I can't be equally annoying to all of them. I had 6 drop me last week but I couldn't tell you the names. I think most people have a core of people they would be hurt if those people left. I've only ever had that happen once.0

I am trying to keep my friend list to a managable list. I don't send request very often, but when I do I always a quick note with my request. I request that if someone is requesting to be my MFP, they should at least tell me why. Am not looking for a long narative, but at least tell me why you're requesting me. Even if it's "Looking for support on this journey...." Even if I might not be looking for more friend, I will most often accept request with a quick note.0
