Now ... fuji or gala because that's the easiest to find organic where I shop. I'm not an organic nutcase, but apples are #1 on the dirty dozen. I buy dirty dozen produce organic. Clean 15 I buy regular produce.

Not all non-organic apples are produced using chemicals and pesticides, though. A lot of growers are going more toward soft programs, which build up the trees with nutrients so that they can fight off pests on their own as well as grow a better apple.
When I buy at the farmers' market or orchard, they publicize information about their growing techniques and can be comfortable buying non-organic. But when I pick up apples at the grocer, I have no idea how the apple was grown so I would rather play it safe. My family eats a lot of apples. Unless I know for sure where they came from and how they were grown, I'd rather be safe.
I so agree with you, I only buy organic apples.....as well as other veggies and fruit.0 -
Fuji! Some of the others are too sweet. Although I just got Honeycrisp so I hope I like those.
I don't like the too sweet ones, either, and Honeycrisps are FANTASTIC!!
I also love Stayman Winesap -- supposed to be good for cooking, but I love to eat them!!0 -
Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Fireside (booo i can't get them here...)0

I like any apple as long as it is firm and not a mushy one. But I do love the pink ladies!0

Fair enough.
Having grown up eating apples, cherries, pears, and peaches straight off the tree in non-organic orchards (in the 80s and 90s, no less), I just always find it a bit amusing that people freak out about them so much.0 -
Cortlands and MacCouns0

Fuji--they are soo sweet and crunchy! Plus they seem to stay fresher longer than the reds.0

Honeycrisp by far is my favorite! Sadly they won't be around much longer. :sad:0

Honey crisp are my favorite when I can find them... unless I can get my hands on the apple gold called Sweet Tango. It's a great hybrid that's grown an hour north of me and they are AMAZING!!!!0

Gala and Fuji, with Granny Smiths for my sour cravings.0

Honeycrisp first, Pink Lady second0

Red Delicious and Pink Ladies are my favourite.0

ok and for fun I like like the Grapples. You know the ones, they smell like a grape jolly rancher and are an apple.0
-
McIntosh! So soft/sweet/sour0
-
Pink Ladies! Give me mouth tingles, like champagne!0

I like any apple that is crunchy and more tart than sweet. I remember as a kid eating wild crab apples and all my adult relatives telling me how they would give me a stomach ache. But they never did. They were like a natural version of the ultra sour candies kids eat today. I can't stand a mushy apple.0

i love the tangy granny smith. i sometimes also have golden delicious and royal gala0

Honeycrisp, granny smith, and pink lady0

Pink Lady by a mile. Most of the other ones in the store end up having kind of a mushy texture, not fresh tasting. The Granny Smiths are fine, but they're kind of sour for me unless I'm cooking with them. The Golden Delicious are usually okay too, but I prefer the Pink Ladies.
In September I always go to the local apple orchard and pick my own, usually Cortlands.0 -
Pink Ladies and Honeycrisp!0

Honeycrisp, hands down!0

McIntosh.0

Braeburn, followed closely by Gala. I love Honeycrisp as well, but sadly have inherited my dad's allergy to some apple varieties. My first Honeycrisp had to be my last.0

I usually go for gala, fuji, or golden delicious. Basically cause there the best of the cheaper varieties. But when I have the money, Honeycrisp is #1 (they are almost $3/lb here).0

There are so many delicious apples. Which I like best really depends on my mood. My top choices are: Fuji, Braeburn, Gala, Cameo, and Honey Crisp. We used to get a really lovely variety called Crispin that were my absolute favorites, but I haven't seen them in several years now. My favorites all tend to have thin skins, crisp textures, and a sweet to sweet-tart flavor.0
