I have ear piercings (lobes + one other) and I can cover it with my hair.

Fads I hope pass before my kids are old enough (....and considering I don't have kids, this will be in a few decades! HA) ... UGGS. I think they will forever be mocked by future generations.

I would say a huge chunk of people do.

But for myself, I am personally very vain. I want to love the way I look, damn anyone else.
It's art for me and a way to express myself.... tattoos and gauges that is.[no neck tats here tho!] Hah

But I do agree that most people who are younger do things for the wrong reasons

OP I agree about above the neck tattoos. The ones behind ears can be covered okay, but I saw a young lady the other day with rainbow stars all over her neck. I'm not sure I see how it would even have meaning to her!
As for piercings they can be taken out, but if someone is trying to show up to a job with piercings in their face that's just silly. =]
