EVERYTHING HAS CARBS!!!

if the OP has PCOS like I do, carbs really are the devil
& that I do
Have you tried eliminating gluten rather than carbs, that can help.0 -
Yes, just about everything does have carbs. But if you stick to whole grains and limit sugar, carbs are not a bad thing.0
-
carbs are not your enemy and just so you know, fruits and veggies have carbs, too *gasp*0

Yes, just about everything does have carbs. But if you stick to whole grains and limit sugar, carbs are not a bad thing.
And if you eat sugar, it's fine too as long as your calorie intake is in check.

If by "fine" you mean thinner, then yes, that is correct.0 -

it depends on who "one" is. But in general any"one" would be healthier without eating sugar.0 -

Jeez...some people are so quick to jump down the throats of others without knowing the full story.
Low-carbing is the ONLY way I can lose weight...believe me, I've tried...PCOS can screw you over like that :grumble:
Generally I don't bother counting calories...although I tend to fall around the 1400 mark. I found it quite hard at first to let go of the counting calories and fat but now I find it quite easy...just takes some time.
What are the things that you're finding you miss the most??0 -

Bcatts you know exactly where this ends....
With you constantly throwing back subjective lines of thought with no science or research or studies to back any of it up.
That about sum it up?0 -
SUGAR FREE jello
NO CARBS!
Also no nutritional value!! Whoo hoo!
:laugh:0 -
This is a new topic!
OP, focus on getting in 1g of protein/lb of weight and 0.3g of fats/lb of weight. Fill the rest of your calories in with whatever you like. In addition...
-Lift weights
-Move more
-Get lots of sleep
-Don't stress too much on little stuff
-Stay away from cigarettes and fast moving vehicles
-Don't forget to laugh
Tada!0 -
Wow, I'm tired of these threads although I don't blame the OP for asking.
You may find that reducing refined carbs and even fruit helps control cravings. YMMV.
So perhaps you can eat huge amounts of carbs and lose weight but if eating less carbs and say more protein helps you feel full and not crave a snickers bar then one would think you might be more successful. Follow some of the suggestions people made if you want to try it and see how you respond.
Also, all of these posts for the most part deal with carbs in relation to weight loss they don't discuss the impact of some carbohydrates on other health indicators. Although personally I think it's most important to be a healthy weight there are potential ramifications to eating certain macro nutrients on health. I personally avoid refined carbs because they are not nearly as nutrient dense as other options.0 -

No, if you want to believe sugar is a healthy food go ahead. It's your body.0 -
I never said Carbs were evil, I just said I wanted to cut back on them more, and that I was having trouble w/ it bcuz so many different things have a lot of carbs. I dnt know where anybody got that i thought carbs were evil. I'm a nurse, I know the need for carbs0

Bcatts you made a generalization earlier about someone that eats sugar would be healthier than someone who didn't. Do I need to quote it?
By the way, your statement can't be farther from the truth.
30 year old man that is a healthy bodyweight and bodyfat%, works out 3-4 times a week and eats SUGAR
will be healthier than
30 year old man that is overweight, high bodyfat, doesn't work out at all, and sits on the couch all day eating celery and rice cakes.0 -

That is in no way close to any statement I made, and you know it.
The gist of my statement was more like - a 30 year old man that is a healthy bodyweight and bodyfat%, works out 3-4 times a week and eats SUGAR will be less healthy than the same man eating no sugar.0 -

Can you find me a study that shows that particular fact? Sugar in and of itself does not make you any less healthy. There is sugar in fruit- which are good for you. So quite honestly I think what you are stating is your OPINION and not scientific fact.0 -

No to interrupt BCatts and Joe but OP, have you tried going GF instead of going low carb, I asked once but I'll ask again. I know it's helped a few of my friends (IRL)0 -

Actually it's a generalization. But your request for a study made me smile. I'm trying to figure how to conduct a study of one person with that same person as the control group.0 -
