You could probably eat slightly more if you wanted do but I don't think 1600 is deficient provided you're making intelligent food choices.
I'm at 3k currently but I'm trying to slowly gain.0 -

I EAT BETWEEN 1500 AND 1600 A DAY AND BURN ABOUT 2500 TO 3000 A DAY, ONLY 10 LBS TO GO TO REACH MY GOAL, THEN I GO ON MAINTENANCE DIET PLAN.... LOST 30 LBS SO FAR.... I AM ALMOST THERE0
-
About 2000 a day at the moment, but I don't seem to be gaining any weight, so I might bump it up. I'd like to (hopefully) gain some muscle.0

I usually net 1400 on a good day for losing weight. I'm 5'2" and currently at 155.0

Same here.0 -
I eat around 600 a day tying to lose
Wished i could eat more0 -
June through September, I ate around 500 calories per day. Now I'm eating 800 or so, but I usually end up closer to 1,000, because I have less self-control these days. I don't really exercise much these days, but I work fast food 5 days per week (however much that burns).0

Around 2000 if I can... I'm smaller than you are so you could probably eat more if you still feel hungry at this level0
-
i'm doing 1200 net currently to lost a good 10 lbs, once i achieve that i will bump it up to maintain myself.. probably around 1400-1500.0

When I was in weight loss mode I vacillated between 1500 & 1800 cal. Now that I'm in maintenance mode I am right around 1900-2000 a day. When I aim to cut a little fat post-winter, I'll aim for the 1800 mark again.
I am 5'2.5" and around 128ish these days. I workout pretty hard 6 days a week.0 -
I have been eating about 1700-2000 calories per day, I've been trying to net around 1400. I was trying to net 1200, but bumped it up a little.0

It depends on how active I've been on the day, but 1750 -2100 is typical. I'm 165cm, 53kg and on maintenance (and somewhat active - burning 150 cals per day is my absolute minimum, can do 1000 cal burn days occasionally, 400 cals is typical)0
-
You should be careful about losing 2500-3000cals/day and eating only half that. This is a setup for bingeing if you do it for an extended period of time, which would end up negating all of your hard work.0

I eat between 1200 - 1500 per day but I try and burn about 1500 - 2000 per day0
-
This is very bad! but since I've been working I only eat about 600-700 cals a day... I should be eating around 13000
-
I fluctuate between 1300-1700..I burn between 500-1800 depending on the day..I can't imagine surviving on some of these small amounts others eat...also if I tried my trainer would kick my *kitten*0
-
Depends on my workout...anywhere from 1400-1700. I'm 5'0 and about 133lbs. I don't do a ton of cardio, just heavy lifting for 45 minutes every other day and about 30 minutes cardio on my non-lifting days.0

I eat between 1200 - 1500 per day but I try and burn about 1500 - 2000 per day
So your net calories are negative? You may want to speak to a professional about this. This is equivalent to not eating. Aka eating disorder.0 -

You CAN eat more and you SHOULD eat more unless you are on a medically supervised very low calorie diet or unless you have undergone gastric surgery, in which case, you'll still be medically supervised.0 -

I was assuming that was a typo, if they meant it, it's not sustainable.0 -
Good gravy. Eat people
It makes me sad to see how many people on here net very few calories every day either because they're not eating or they are exercising themselves to death. Just eat. Food is not the enemy. You can lose weight without killing yourself.
I eat 1800-2000 net. I am maintaining, but not intentionally. I'd like to lose more weight, but I'm going to wait and see if I start losing again after I've eliminated a few stressful things from my life. If I don't start losing after the grant/paper are done and after I start getting 8 hours of sleep a night, then I'll cut calories to 1600 to 1800 and see what happens.0 -
1440 per day.0
-
I try to net about 1700. I'm a nursing mother, and 500ish goes to milk production, so I guess a net of 1200 is more accurate.0
-
Ahh I agree rebekah!
You do not have to starve yourself to be happy and beautiful people
I eat about 1500 net, and am still losing. Bumping it up more to save my muscle mass as much as I can :]0 -
I am at 3000 [+-] -
That accounts for my activity and exercises. Considering what I was consuming, this feels like starvation - lol
I was such a fat pig and ate like one as well.0 -
Instead of calorie intake,I would focus on deficit. If you're trying to lose a pound a week then make sure you have a 500 calorie deficit. So how much you eat should depend on how much you exercise, but around 1500-1600 seems reasonable to me, and eat exercise calories back.0

I eat about 1700-1900 on days I exercise. 1300-1400 on days I do not exercise. 5'3" 125 lbs.0

Goodness folks. Many of you are really doing yourselves a disservice by eating so little. It is truly not the way to go.
My net is usually around 1750-1900. I eat a total of about 1900-2300 calories per day, depending on exercise. Except this week, I'm trying to take a break from exercise and eat at maintenance. Maintenance for me, without exercise, is 2200-2400 calories per day, depending on activity level.0 -

Your body is going to think you are starving and you will lose muscle mass. Drink protein shakes to keep your calories at 1300.0
