Is anyone else dreading Christmas?

Not really liking the no baking, the no Christmas lunches with dessert, the no whipped something something from Starbucks or excitement of "Do they have the fondant Christmas Cookies this year?"
Really excited about the OMG size 14 and the oops that doesn't fit anymore, and the wow I can walk up and down the stairs without holding on/pulling up.
I'm thinking this is a Christmas blessing..to be down 54 pounds from August and the new year just around the corner. Learning to conquer eating just because and seeing the boys get excited about my little successes are just about the best presents a girl like me can get.
Now--I want a treadmill and a bicycle (still a Toys R Us kid!!!) Where's Santa?????
Amy911Gray...This is great, you rock! You should be fired up about Christmas....you got your present early!
To the OP, heck no! We are going snow skiing and I am fired up!!! Plan on burning lots of calories! And it's just going to be my husband, two boys and myself so there will be no stress of cooking big meals and lots of desserts as with traditional family gatherings. Just a little stressed about the road trip but I have my snacks already planned0 -
The holidays are about family, fun, good food, enjoying myself, and to have less stress. Calorie counting and losing weight is supposed to improve the confidence you ahve and make life more enjoyable. It is not supposed to take away from the enjoyment and control your life.
Live life. Enjoy the holidays. Get back on track later.
Holiday is short; just don't make it a 3 month season like many
Well put....0 -
Honestly, a little nervous about them. I will likely do what I have done every year before...enjoy myself; have some wine, eat what everyone else is having and not put too much pressure on myself.0
-
Oh no!
I love x-mas - the singing, gift exchanges, getting hammered and binge eating. Plus I get to gloat over the misfortunes of my dysfunctional family.
^^ This. This is my life on Christmas Day, in a nutshell. LOL!!!! I really did laugh out loud when I saw this comment!!0 -
I'm not dreading Christmas, I'm dreading the scale on the 1st of January though!!:D0
-
No way! I'm looking forward to it! Christmas only comes once a year. Just like on Thanksgiving, I'm going to enjoy myself and not worry about calories at all. One day won't undo all of my hard work. Enjoy your day!0
-
Never! This will be the first time in 8 years that I will have all of my kids together for Christmas. I am so excited. I will be good right up to Christmas Eve and the day after Christmas I will be back on track. For two days I intend to enjoy my family and all of the festivities and food that goes with it.0

I'm going to have a spoonful of my favorite things - no bread cause I don't have to have that and 1 piece of cake!0
-
Nope! Just put in a few extra workouts and try not to completely overdo it with the goodies. If you want sweets know your limit ahead of time ...1 piece of pie, 4 cookies ....if you go out to eat order off the appetizer menu to keep the portion smaller. Don't take home leftovers!!!0

We are going out of town for several days and I will have very little control over the food. Just dread it cause i've been doing so good with logging/exercising. Is anyone else dreading the holiday?
as you have heard in the past (on multiple occassions prob!)...this is all about a lifestyle change!!!!
~Get your normal workouts in....and if you can't get to the gym while out of town, then walk!! you can walk anywhere...even in place, inside!!!!
~Get in your water...you should be doing this everyday no matter what anyways! PLUS it will help you from OVERindulging!
~EAT...just don't stuff yourself until the brink of exploding...this is what "normal" people do...eat until you are full even, just realize full for you may be binging for most (depending of course). show some self control!!!!
~enjoy all of your fave holiday foods...just do it within reason!!! for me...I love pumpin pie...but instead of eating 3 pieces...1 is fine now-a-days!
~if you are going to be out of town and around "bad" food for multiple days...go to the store and buy some fiber one cereal, skim milk, and fruit for breakfast, salad and dressing to supp your dinners, and granola bars, string cheese, and trail mix to help with snacking....family and friends WILL understand!!
~LOG everything...even if you have to write it down while you are there, and do it later!
~make conscious choices...it IS in your hands and it is completely YOUR doing!
I could keep going and going...point is, you CAN make it through the holidays WITHOUT dreading it, and without overdoing it, and with enjoying it still!!! JUST STAY FOCUSED!!!!!
GOOD LUCK!0 -
Yes, but it has little to do with eating, logging or exercising.0

I am because it will be the third anniversary of my mother's death.
Appreciate what you have and don't ruin this time with your family by worrying about something as silly as calories.0 -
There will always be weddings, birthdays and holidays. Just as one day of eating well won't change your weight/goals, one day of indulgence won't either. Enjoy these times. Just get back on track the next day.0

I said it before and will say it again....I need to be on an island! Bah Humbug!0 -
It's one day, enjoy it. I know I will!0

No! I'm terribly excited!! I have four Christmas meals and can't wait to pig out! hehe, I have to suffer all year long, I'm going to enjoy myself for once...
Well, rather I'm going to eat a bit of everything and not obsess over calories. My type of pigging out isn't really eating that much since I get full so quick (usually before I can try everything ) but rather I'm going to eat whatever I want even if it's high in fat or sugar or calories, just keep the portion sizes small (usually what I do anyway to try a bit of everything) then I'll workout lots come the new year.0 -

I'm sorry about your mother. This is going to be the first Christmas without my boyfriend's mom (she passed away November 3rd at the age of 42 ) . For that I am kind of sad about this Christmas.0 -

Yes, I'm with you, food and calories is not what will make this Christmas difficult. My mum died in August so it is going to be the first Christmas without her, and I just know that it will be a day of being together with the family but feeling alone without my mum.0 -
NOT DREADING IT...CUZ I LOVE XMAS!...I DID PRETTY GOOD FOR THANKSGIVING, SO IM HOPING TO DO THE SAME FOR CHRISTMAS!....ITS NOT THE FOOD IM ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT...ITS THE SWEETS!...IF I CAN STAY AWAY FROM THEM, ILL DO JUST FINE!!1...0

Yeah, me too - Mum died in July and we usually had Christmas at her house...0 -
Food wise no, I'm not dreading it. Otherwise, I have to go to my In-Laws house, and my hubby's Granny's house on that day. I have to chase after my toddler to make sure that he doesn't break anything at his Great Granny's house. Then at my In-Laws house, I have to chase after my toddler to make sure their dog that doesn't like him, doesn't bite him. So, that makes a workout for me. LOL0

I'm not dreading as much as I did last year. I took a month off dieting last Christmas because I was on holiday. Completely stuffed my face for 4 weeks straight and only gained 2kg (4.4lbs) then lost it all within a week of dieting again.
I'll just make sure I don't eat too much and try and keep exercising!0 -
I am not dreading it, .............as long as I get a bunch of good stuff..... :drinker: :drinker:
Lol. Well said0 -
Thanks everyone. After reading all your answers I am not dreading it so much anymore. I will just watch my portions and only eat one slice of cake instead of 3 and walk everyday. I am going to enjoy time with the family and just worry about food after the holiday.0

I just dread going to other people's houses period because I'm so "picky." I'm glad we're staying here but if we were going somewhere I'd feel the same way.
Good luck!0 -
Dread it all the time. 4 day's out of my night world into the daylight world. It's not that fun to switch back and forth!
Don't like the stress of December!0 -
Absolutely I think I can do moderation once ut 3 times is my challenge Friday is at my home Sat with husbands family Sun my sisters .I m trying to tell myself its 3 days not a lifetime . We will see0

This is a lifestyle change. Do you want to spend every Christmas for the rest of your life tracking calories and stressing about what you are eating? Would it be better for you to eat well and do what you are supposed to 95% of the time and the other 5% enjoy what you want in moderation? This change is all about finding a balance.
I plan to not track on Christmas, but also not go crazy eating pounds and pounds of bad stuff. Yes, I will try the sweet potatoes and a piece of Aunt Edna's Fudge. But I will only have one serving/piece.
I will do a Quick Add for my approx calories at the end of the day for tracking purposes.0
