Hi! I am 47 year old woman with 2 grown kids and a 22 month old granddaughter. I travel 100% of the time for work and have put my career ahead of myself including my eating habits and health. I have been working with a personal trainer for 6 weeks now. And have lost 22 lbs so far. My struggle is my eating habits. She had me on a strict lean meat and certain veggie only. She has incorporated a few things like oatmeal 2 times a week. I have 2 days a week I can have good carbs but only for breakfast and lunch. No breads and no sugar.

    Any advice? Suggestions?

Green beans, mixed veggies and stir-fry can become your best friends. Back when I was losing I had some combination of them at least two meals per day {along with some lean protein}. They are easy to prepare and taste very good. I use frozen when the garden is out of season.

Now that I'm trying to gain back that extra five pounds I lost, I do eat bread and other carby food, but I gave most of it up when I was losing.

    Good Luck,

    Larro

Today is my 20-week countdown start.

    So, of course I lifted!

And, I am logging my calories.

AND, to MAKE sure that I am "on-track" for the next 20 weeks, I approached an acquaintance of mine who is going to do a daily "text check" to make sure I have weighed in and am following my calorie-cut.

Compliance is key. I need to be compliant to make strides.

I got my lifting done, today. BOOM!

And, I stayed right on track with my calories.

I feel VERY IN CHARGE right now....that "mood" doesn't stick around long....so, while it IS HERE, I am really going to make hay while the sun shines. Keep lifting. Decrease eating. Log. Weigh. Repeat.

"FOCUS T25 Alpha: Total Body Circuit"=Done! i did MUCH better this week! ALMOST "nailed it", but not quite. ran out of steam on those pike ups, so I slowed it down...then picked it back up on the singles! the last set of oblique push ups were also at a slower pace.

    Eating while traveling.
Stopped at a buffet place for dinner. Completely filled my plate - with broccoli, green beans, peas, corn & small baked potato. Filled a second plate - with salad w/ a little dressing and some cottage cheese.

Thank you for your service, alf.

My countdown is not really a countdown.....I want to try a "long-range plan". So, I created a 20-week plan for myself.

Terrible fight with wife yesterday. All I wanted to do was eat the pain away. I didn't though. I ate but light then did something else. Now today will be its own challenge as the emotions are still upset

Changes in US culture. At a group where they recognized veterans. There are 30 people here and only two of us have served. If the average age had been 65 the numbers would have been higher and if 75 much higher. But the average age is around 50.

Hello!!! @allenpriest, thank you for your service!!!! You must be in an area not near a military installation. I live in San Antonio. Almost anywhere you go you meet someone who is serving or has served. I hope things are better with your wife.

I had a wonderful birthday with my family. My Dr called today with news about my X-rays, nothing was found. She ordered an MRI, I have a referral to see a neurologist. I also have an appt with my podiatrist on Monday. This is so frustrating!!! My foot and some areas in my lower leg/ankle continue to hurt. I haven't been able to exercise the way I want to. My husband and the lady who works with my son were suggesting neuropathy or even fibromyalgia. I want to stay positive. Ugh!!!!!!

Alf, I love San Antonio. My sister used to live there a long time ago. Wish your foot would get better, or at least know what is going on with it would be nice. Hopefully you can get some answers soon.
We have quite a few military in my family. three brothers and a sister, brother in law, they were all in several years, my husband did 20 years in the USMC. He has been out since 2004.
I am trying to eat a little better, choose better snacks. My weight has gone up 2 lbs the last week, and had been staying the same before that for months. I made a big pot of veggie soup to have for lunch this week, that usually gets my calories lower for the day. I finally have the weight bench set up down cellar. It's pretty nice.
I hope you all have had a good week. Have a nice weekend.
