So my wife makes fun of this food journal

She is by no means in shape either but then again neither am I.
I have lost weight and continue to use it regardless but just curious if anyone else got negative feedback from their spouse on this?
I travel A LOT for my work typically 5 1/2 out of the 7 day week and traveling makes it EXTREMELY difficult to eat healthy but luckily all the hotels I stay at have free access to their fitness center or contracts with local gyms.
I feel a whole lot better as the majority of work I do is based out of my vehicle and I sit for extended amounts of times.
I started this because I gained even more weight that was already on top of the excess weight at the start of the job plus I was starting to feel light headed at times which I knew was time to make changes.
Just got my 45 day log in notice so I am defiantly at the point of a habit and with myfitnesspal.com a it defiantly helps with logging as most of the items are already itemized which helps with the hectic day to day activities.
Okay this turned into more then what I intended but Happy New Year to all.
Different Strokes for Different Folks, I say! if it's working for you then more power to you, I do find my hubby gives me a sly smile whenever he sees me log in to MFP though he hasn't said anything foolish yet (he knows better!) ;D0 -
Noooope. My guy thinks it's good that I'm trying to take care of myself. He's got an account too, but rarely uses it.0

What and or who is DH?
I believe DH stands for Dear Husband.
Orrrrr, could be 'DA HUSBAND'!
On a more serious note, if you're doing something to better your chances at a full life, do it. And maybe, just maybe, you can work out a way to get the missus on board without offending her!
Good luck,
S
PS [edit] -just saw this//Everybody on this site isn't from the same place and you can't know their background. I am also opposed to the blatant sexualization of children that seems to be hitting the main stream lately. “Child brides” have been on tv and in the news (specifically BC Canada) and I don’t think it’s anything to joke about or be referred to lightly. I also don’t think the baby beauty contests are good for anybody. I have no sense of humour about any of that and I don’t think it was a valid point given the statement of the poster. She made a valid point which the op attempted to discredit using what??? Humour? Exaggeration for effect? I’m not sure where he was coming from.
I.... give up. You win. Marrying children is wrong. Making a joke that remotely implies it is wrong. I am wrong.
I really can't stand how politically correct people have to be just to keep everybody happy.
Is it wrong that this made me lol..?
And does that make me a bad person?
Sorry.. does it make me wrong..0 -
So glad my husband IS supportive of my watching my calorie intake. Even encourages me to excercise and drink more water. This food journal has been SO helpful in watching how much I eat and how much I excercise as I had no idea how many calories were in some of the foods I have been eating on a regular basis. I wouldn't care WHAT anyone thought of the tools I use to help me loose weight. I only care about what *I* think in that regards.0

My husband is pretty supportive, and very proud of my accomplishments. His problem is my addiction to MFP.lol I can't help it, I love logging on my journal, tracking my progress, and reading the posts. Hopefully it will rub off on him one day so he will understand my fascination with it. Other than that, he couldn't be happier with my results. I too think that your wife may be a little jealous, not necessarily because you are making healthy changes, but could it possibly be because this is an outlet for you and she feels that it is taking some of your attention away from her? I know that once I get on MFP, its hard to get off because there's so much information that it's easy to become addicted.lol Whatever the case, I hope she comes around. Blessings to you on your journey.:flowerforyou:0

My husband is supportive but he is my weight loss enemy! He eats whatever he wants and creates temptation. Ice cream, cookies, pizza, fried wings..hell you name it he eats it in front of me. Then when I eat it he says..oh it just pizza work it off later. LOL0

Well From what I have read on here so far. Its most likely a good thing she is not on this site. I think its two things. One is jealousy and the other out of pure motivated spite. You have more than three lines to write your motivations. The only thing that motivates you is your children. You never mention your wife 1 time in your profile. You mention your friends and the military but not the woman who stood beside you and then the one and only time you get on the site and mention anything about her its about how you have been logging your food for a month now and your wife knew nothing about it and when she realizes you are doing it she complained.
I have a feeling you leave your wife out a lot more than just your meal plans.
I also wonder if you really do judge based on looks considering the reply to Troll and if you are justifying something you have said or done to your wife considering I am pretty sure your BBW question today I assume was your wifes defense. If this is not the case and you were just wanting positive validation then consider this void.
She's known day one number one and ya she was standing by my side back in 2008 when she cheated on me. So until you know the whole story you might want to think about sticking to the girl club.
We have been working at it since 2008 and partnership is about supporting one another and I just don't understand why no support on this when the main reason I am doing this is to be around for my family.
As for the BBW question no it was not directed at my wife and purely a general question.0 -
Maybe you could just tell her that you NEED her and her support...0

My husband is used to me being super focused about healthy lifestyle when I am in the zone. I am very happy that he has started using it too now and he is doing really well on it. In saying that, apart from when I bug him with "wow look how fantastic this person looks" from the success stories topic, he has zero interest in the social side of it.
It makes it much easier as he gets it a bit more when I shout through from the kitchen "how many ml are in a teaspoon?" but he will never understand my interest in the social aspect which is fine as it would probably feel a bit strange for us to be on the same forum.
(My eldest son is using it now too and needs me to make a new notch in his belt as he has lost another inch)0
