What does this have to do with nutrition, losing weight, gaining weight or maintenance? Save it for facebook.0

There is something odd about people who hate animals. Being uncomfortable around them, or being afraid is one thing, but hating them is just very strange to me.
Nice troll, by the way. 4/100 -
I agree that it's the owners fault for not maintaining their pet correctly. For me, my puppy gives me the drive to go outside and get up to go do things!0

It's Chit-chat, fun and games. It doesn't have to be about fitness.0 -
This is even worse than the broad with the generalizations thread.0

In case u didn't notice this post was for dog LOVERS NOT DOG HATERS...nobody wants yo hear your
negative input. If u don't like dogs don't own one....0 -
Don't worry. Dogs probably hate you, too.0

I'm reading that book now and it is great!0

For the dog lovers...if you like to read, check out The Art of Racing in the Rain. Fabulous, fabulous story.
I'm reading that book right now and it's great!0 -
See the problem is~ my mother in law is getting older and when we visit, it's expected that we care for the dog. She asks me to take him for a walk... which is not enjoyable because never being trained, he drags me the whole time. When we sit to eat, he is under the table with his head in everyone's lap, barking and whining the entire meal... then when i clean up after dinner, i have to fight with him while loading the dish washer because he wants to lick all the dishes!~ YUCK! I have cooked dinner in her kitchen, where i have to yet fight again to keep his big paws off the counter... (he's a large dog)... It's just a frustrating situation. I can't help it that i'm not a dog lover... i'm just not. I can't help it. I love people... not animals. I can tolerate them,.. just not so much in the house. Like my father put it~ he loves his cows, but they belong outside!~ LOL0

To respond to some of the posts~ No, i don't have a bad attitude... No, my kids aren't perfect... Yes, maybe i could have chose a better title... Yes, i knew i would read some bashing remarks... I'm just trying to understand why some people love an animal or hold higher regards for one than a human being? I just wasn't built to love a dog. Plain and simple. I understand it's your pet and your house... but when i am INVITED into your home, have a little respect, and don't expect me to love your dog, and don't expect me to care for your dog. I could refuse to go to my mother in law's... but that's rude, and i try my best to make light of the situation.0

So why don't you TALK to your mother in law about the situation at hand rather than ranting at us?0 -
Well here is part of one of my blogs for non-pet owners such as yourself.
To All Non-Pet Owners Who Visit & Like to Complain About Our Pets:
1. They live here. You don't.
2. If you don't want their hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture. (That's why they call it "fur"niture.)
3. I like my pets a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, it's an animal. To me, he/she is an adopted son/daughter who is short, hairy, walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly.
Remember: In many ways, dogs, cats and Birds are better than kids because they:
1. Eat less
2. Don't ask for money all the time
3 Are easier to train
4. Normally come when called
5. Never ask to drive the car
6. Don't hang out with drug-using friends
7. Don't smoke or drink
8. Don't have to buy the latest fashions
9. Don't want to wear your clothes
10. Don't need a gazillion dollars for college, and...
11. If they get pregnant, you can sell their children.0 -
And for the OP: I'm curious about something...
Why would you make the title of your post "FOR ALL DOG LOVERS OUT THERE" and then bash and berate dogs? If you don't like dogs, that's your choice. But, I think directing this post to dog lovers is just a little rude. I honestly opened it thinking it was something cute, funny, etc directed towards people who have and love dogs. NOT a dog bashing post.
Love this!0 -
I LOVE my dog and don't understand how anybody could not love ANY dog they are amazing animals. OK I would never EVER let my dog mess i the house but who would right?? and as a lot of people have already put on here I would not expect guests to share the sofa with my dog.
Insult my dog you insult me!0 -

I respect the fact you don't like dogs, not everyone does. I never used to. It's that you seem to be generalising it to all dogs - it sounds like it's a problem with your MIL and her ability to train HER dog, not dogs as a whole.
If I invited somebody to my house, I would not expect them to care for my dog, take them out for a walk and things like that. My mum doesn't particularly like dogs, she accepts ours when we visit as there's not really another option apart from her coming to us all the time, or leaving him at home all day I have no chance in hell of getting her to look after him though, and I don't expect her to, that was our responsibility when we got him.
Even though not a dog person at all she does say that he's really well behaved when we visit. When we eat or are sitting on the sofa, he just goes to sleep on the floor, no trouble at all, and she thinks it's sweet0 -
And i don't trust people that treat their pet as their "child"... or someone that let's their dog lick them in the face after sniffing another dogs butt, drinking out of the toilet, and eating out of the garbage. That's just wrong in so many ways!0
-
LOL.. i lol'd... .
I have one German Shepherd.. he is not allowed on anything! but his bed.....:) He can lay by the sofa or by my bed but thats it .. i have a really nice sofa soo i dont want him on it >:D
but i LOVE dogs! Mans best friend!0 -
Me too, the only good thing about it is, it gives me a chance to make freinds with other dog lovers. I can't imagine why she would post such a rude thing to real dog lovers. All I can say is I am happy I do not have a dog hater married into any of my family, that is some scary stuff. In my opinion "Dogs are like potato chips, you can't have just one" and "No outfit is complete without dog hair".0
-
It's not just my mil's dog.. I feel this way towards all of them. It's just her's reinforces my feelings towards them.0
-
Sorry LethaSue, when i see someone's clothes covered in dog hair... i think it looks bad. Not very appealing.0

instead of *****ing that the dog isn't trained, train it. it will make your life easier and you may start to understand why people care about animals the way they do. if you are spending time there the dog will associate things with you and you will be able to get it to do things it doesn't currently do in a relatively short space of time, sure it might take a bit of effort in your part but it would be worth it. especially if as you say your MIL is getting old, who's going to look after the dog if she gets sick and has to spend time in hospital, i'd hazard a guess you, in your house, wouldn't it be less stressful if the dog already knew how to behave when around you. and for heavens sake if you say the dog stand in its poo when YOU let it out, why didn't YOU clean its paws0
-
It's obvious you are not part of my family. Between the 5 of us grown kids and our parents are a total of 27 dogs. And each one of us live by the rule, you hurt one of our dogs and we will hurt you. All of us have house dogs and are part of the family and ours travel wherever we go. They fly on planes and are much better behaved than the screaming kids and the drunk adults. They stay in a carrier underneath the seat and endure inspection through every port we travel. We allow our dogs (a shih tzu and a yorkie) to sit and sleep wherever they want. Actually they share their home wiith us. LOL They are groomed and bathed on a regular basis and sleep with us every nite. Actually if it hadnt been for our oldest dog, I probably wouldnt have been alive today. She came into my life during a very down period and because of her I had a reason to get up everyday and take care of her.
I'm not sure if you are trolling and enjoying people's reactions or if you seriously hate dogs/animals. Honestly I would be very suspicious of a person who actually hated animals. I can understand not wanting one or having one but hate is a very strong word and to categorize one dog (which is not at fault) as all dogs, is simply idiotic. Should we categorize all people based on what you say? I just simply cant put into words the exasperation I feel about what you said and with the hatred behind your words. I feel sorry for you.0 -
I am generally not a dog person, I much prefer cats. I was bitten by a loose border collie about 3 years ago so I am frightened of any dog not on alead, so much so that I can't go in a park because I know there will be loose dogs there. However, I do find some dogs to be nice. I like French Bull Dogs because to me they are so ugly they are cute! But I know not one single breed is vicious, just like there is rarely an inheritantly bad dog, just bad owners. I would never own a dog, I just don't care for them enough, and they take up alot of time to train and care for properly. I cannot stand it when people do not walk there dog as often as they should (I believe it should be at least twice a day) because they are too lazy. Don't own a dog if you are not going to care for it.
Incidently, I don't like children either, except for my nephew.
Lastly, someone let their god poo outside the front door of our block of flats yesterday morning and left it there. Gross! It was a dog too, no fox produces THAT MUCH poop.0 -
Sorry LethaSue, when i see someone's clothes covered in dog hair... i think it looks bad. Not very appealing.
Wow, how judgemental can you seriously get?!
I honestly don't like how a lot of teenage girls these days are getting away with basically underwear in public or guys wearing their pants so low you can see their underwear but I don't go around bashing them for it.
Btw, instead of complaining to the internet maybe you should go complain to your MIL, what are we going to do to help? What are you looking for, sympathy? Cos in all honesty I do not think you are going to find any here!
ALSO, dogs only do what they're trained to do so maybe you should go train your MIL's dog yourself and quit complaining!0 -
My feelings towards dogs are stronger than dislike, so what word would you like me to use? LOL I appreciate you telling me how to express my own opinion... that's really rich.:drinker:0

wow..that is harsh. How can anyone not like dogs? They love you uncondtionally, no matter what, are the best listeners, friends, companions ever. I love dogs....and all animals.0

You know there are people out there who can't have kids, right? Just because you are 'blessed' with human kids, doesn't mean everyone else is so lucky. As for dogs disgusting habits, what about kids? They pick their nose, eat it and then want a kiss. My nephew has pooped so much before that it's leaked out of his nappy and pretty much covered him head to toe in one go! That gross too you know.
I don't own dogs, I don't want to, but I find you to be extraordinarily judgemental.0 -
I have a sign in my house for just such people like you.
It reads:
"For non pet owners who visit and like to complain about our pets:
1. The dog lives here, you don't.
2. If you don't want dog hair on your clothes, stay off the furniture.
3. I like my dog a lot better than I like most people.
4. To you, she's a dog. To me she's an adopted daughter who is short, hairy , walks on all fours and doesn't speak clearly."
Bottom line... if you don't like your mom in laws dog that much, forgo the free babysitting and take your hate elsewhere.0
