see if they can give you the Mirena IUD. Hope they see you soon, doesn't make sense for everything to be worse since you lost weight.

yupp, i'm on an iron pill already. that's the only thing keeping me from anemic shock right now.

i can't believe it takes over a month to get an appointment even with an emergency!

Call around and get in sooner with another doctor at least to rule out the worst of it especially given your history with cervical cancer.

first off, congrats on beating cancer!

secondly, what sort of birth control are you on? some BCs do have crazy reactions like the one you're having (I think the shot one and certain IUDs). I had a few friends on the shot who got absolutely insane periods on the shot.

I'm not sure if having cancer would cause crazy periods, even if it's gone now. your body still went through a really tough time and you were on some harsh medications that can seriously screw with your system. but I agree with everyone else, it's probably unlikely that your weight loss would give you crazy periods. weight loss can throw off your period if you're doing it excessively and it doesn't sound like that's what you're doing.

those sort of doctors are usually really booked, but most offices DO keep certain times of day open for EMERGENCIES. also, people CANCEL appointments. I'm sure if your doctor was actually informed of this problem you were having, you would be in there asap. :/ it sounds like the nursing system/calling service is just clueless. I would tell them that when there is a cancellation you would like to be called about it to get an earlier appt. for some reason a lot of offices don't do this, and I don't think it's fair to patients. you should NOT have to wait a month for that!

on a very last chance try, could you try switching doctors? they might be able to take you sooner if you can explain the issue and your current doctor won't see you.

I agree -- you need to push for an earlier appointment, if only for your own state of mind. Honestly, maybe just try showing up at the office one day when she has patients and waiting for them to squeeze you in.

I very recently had the same problem. Were still in the middle of trying to figure out what's wrong. I saw my doctor and she gave me some BC pills to stop the flow. She told me to take 2 a day for the first week. She thinks it's cysts but doesn't know for sure. I'm scheduled for an ultrasound next week.

It depends on what kind of diet you're doing, when I was doing Atkins I had my TOM every other week!!! And it was very heavy and miserable...are you doing low-carb?!

If you are on a low hormone birth control pill you can get breakthrough bleeding, or extended periods.

About 6 months ago I was really stressed out about school and I started bleeding again the week after my period. The doctor changed my BC pills to a higher hormone dosage and that stopped the bleeding.

I am NOT a doctor and i am just talking from experience: if you are on a low-dose hormone pill maybe you can try double dosing (taking a pill every 12 hours) and see if it stops the bleeding.

I am sorry you have to go through this and your doctor isn't able to see you, call and insist that you be seen. Or ask for a referral to another doctor who might be able to see you sooner.

When you get to the Doc, make sure they check your thyroid function. It can really screw with your cycle.

Well, Honestly if she is like that then you need to find another OB/GYN. The OB/GYN doctor at our office always tries to fit in those with unexplained heavy bleeding within the week.

I had a similar thing and it was fibroids being expelled... but if you have no history of that, I suggest going to the ER immediately... your health is worth it...

I would call around until I found a Dr. willing to get me in right away. I can't believe they are trying to make you wait so long, especially considering your history.

Heavier cramps, heavier periods that start and stop for about 10 days...

Here's one I have never never heard of....my cramps start in my ab area and climb up stopping under my bra, AND, climb down to my knees EVERY MONTH EVERY DAY.

I'm going to get myself to the doctor once the insurance kicks in and I can take a couple of days off. I have to believe this all a part of a changing body...I remember these from high school!!!

Wait a minute - you just beat cervical cancer 7 months ago, and now you're having super heavy periods and pain and the doctor can't see you for a month???!!?! I'm sorry, but, WTF?!?
Have you called your oncologist? Given your past medical history, you should see someone right away. That's BS to make you wait a month. Praying for you that it's nothing "serious" and that maybe it's just the BC.

Did you talk to the doctors nurse or just Someone at the front desk answering phones? I worked in two doctors offices as a Cna and patients always got further talking to me than they did with the receptionist. I personally would call the oncologist and talk to the nurse. Or call the hospital, ask for the doctor on call for gyno, they should call you right back and you can explain your problem to them, they will either tell you to go to the er or to call for an appointment in which case you all the office and tell them you spoke with the doctor on call. (make sure you have THAT doctors name, makes them somewhat responsible if they have spoken with you.) all this providing you have had regular check ups and are established with the practice. Good luck, hope you feel better.

I recently had something similar - heavy bleeding on all but about three days of the month. I went to see a specialist and it turned out that I had some extra uterine tissue growing on my cervix which was being over stimulated by the pill. The simply solution was to stop the pill, bleeding stopped after the usual 5 days. Now I just have to stay off the pill until that extra tissue goes away, the doctor said about 6-12 months.

Maybe try stopping your pill in the meantime and see if that helps?

    Good luck!

I had that problem when I started on Mirena...it was no friend to me! Back on regular birth control pills and things got back to normal. My doctor's office allows patients to call in first thing in the morning to check on cancellations and emergency appointments, so maybe try that?

Good luck, and let us know how you're doing and if you find out what's going on!
