I'm terrified to walk alone at night. Which is awful cause I get most motivated to run when I'm supposed to be sleeping! Maybe it's just being a girl, nothing scares me more than being by myself because I have these nasty visions of being kidnapped/raped/murdered/etc. Too many crime shows!

I had that problem then I started playing, "What show would I be on" and it made it less creepy and kind of fun. I'd probably be on Bones because I live in NoVa, so I started playing "Which Squintern" would be working the case.

I live in the hood. Not too bad in my city, but when i lived in a huge city - i lived in the hood there too. Gun shots, muggings, stabbings, blah blah blah. I didn't care - I went about my business like normal.

BUT ... when I'm home alone at night, to this day, I'm afraid the girl from The Ring is going to crawl out of my television.
The Ring? Check out The Strangers. Perfect for when you're home alone.
    that movie was so horrible.

I am terrified of powerlines, furnaces, and water heaters. I have run screaming out of my basement before when the furnace has turned on.

I have to shower with my back to the wall, you know.. just in case someone rips open the curtain to stab me to death. Other than that.. nothing else scares me about my house. I grew up in a house that had different spirits in it.. That kind of thing doesn't bother me.

The only other thing that I am terrified of... is being shot. Not just being shot at random.. being shot while driving on the highway. I don't have a CLUE where this manifested from... I am not afraid of guns in the slightest, in fact, I own several and I am a pretty good shot TBH. But when someone is on the side of me while I am driving.. I am in constant fear that they are going to shoot me. Not only shoot me, but I am not going to die instantly, I will lose control of my car, and be in a horrific car wreck.

    Seriously. :indifferent:

I am terrified of being home alone. Usually when my fiance goes away I lock myself in my bedroom with the dogs at night...LOL It is just way too creepy to be in a big house all alone at night....

I work in one of the worst areas of my city and each evening I walk through a bad 'hood to catch my train. The area is nicknamed 'The Jungle'...apparently as a reference to the maze of streets and community housing. It is a high crime area...but I have never been scared to walk through there. Maybe I should be...there are shootings and stabbings at night but I figure most bad guys sleep all day...hahaha Or at least that is what I tell myself as I walk through there...lol
  • I am exactly the same!

Do rational things scare me? No.

Do irrational things scare me? Yes!

    That is me exactly.

    me too

i have. and i am pretending i don't remember the story.

and paranormal activity? no effing way will i watch that.

silly. people in my neighborhood get bludgeoned while they sleep and i leave my windows open. yet this is what keeps me up at night.

You seem to be afraid of the unknown and not the real life situations going on outside

My brother made 'the ring' the screensaver of our computer one night after I went to bed. (He had been making fun of me and my sister for being scared of that movie for a month or so at this point)

I was always the first one up to get ready for school and I had to walk past the computer to get to the bathroom. I thought my heart was going to stop when I saw it, and I screamed bloody murder! Somehow, I knew right away it was my brother's doing, so I marched into his room (at 5am), flipped on his light, yanked the pillow out from under his head and started beating the **** out of him with it.

He didn't even open his eyes, he just laughed at me. *kitten*.

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHA. that is RAD. I mean, very horrible. But very funny becasue it wasn't me.

    Hell, stop it.

That bloody movie, do you know I watched it when it first came out, I watched it on video, not DVD. This is totally, 100% true what I am about to say.

Exactly one week later and to the hour I was sitting at our main computer which is in the next room to the TV, I had the TV on but had gone onto the computer in this other room and could hear the TV blaring away. I was at home alone, because hubby had had to go out.

Suddenly, the sound on the TV ceased and you know that sound that the video made in The Ring, sort of like white noise, a sssshhhhhh sort of noise? Well that was the exact sound coming from the TV. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and I literally just froze. Frozen to the bloody spot!

I knew that I was going to have to get up and I ventured out into the hallway and closed my eyes, then taking a deep breath I peered around the corner, but not before opening the front door which was directly next to me, because I am not ashamed to admit that if a picture of a well were to suddenly appear on that screen, I was going to be off and out of here and down the road faster than Linford Christie!!!!

What I saw when I gingerly looked around the corner, was that the TV service had temporarily gone down, it was NOT a well - thank God!!

Do you know, just thinking back to that evening has made me break out into a cold sweat right now. I so hate that movie, I cannot for the life of me imagine why I went and bought it on DVD a few months back either!!! :noway:

Same here. I wil check things twice, sometimes more to make sure everything is shut off. I will freak out if something gets put anywhere close to a radiator heater, stove, water heater....anything. Kinda turn OCD with it all.

    Long drawn out story:
Several years ago my wife and I watched The Grudge - which sucked but the constant scenes involving The Grudge jumping out and screaming like a cat were enough to give one PTSD even though the movie wasn't really scary, just annoying. The next morning I go out at about 5:00 am to feed our animals. I hear a noise moving around up in the top of the barn and I shine my flashlight up there and the light hits a cat's eyes and the cat makes the exact noise that The Grudge made every time she popped out of somewhere. I almost shot the cat but regained my composure. At this time my wife was a stay at home mom and was always still asleep when I left for work. I walked back into the pitch black house to go get ready for work and I see this dark figure hovering in the kitchen. I made a manly startled noise (............) and then realized it was my wife.
Me: "What the fck are you doing lurking in the dark in the kitchen?
My lovely bride: "I got up to get water and heard you coming in so I just stayed still so you wouldn't notice I was here, I wasn't lurking I just didn't want you to see me in the dark and scream like a little ***** and wake up the kids."

She's more concerned about real people serial killers and stuff and I'm more scared of ghosts and crap. She asked me why once and I said because I can shoot real people, shooting ghosts doesn't do any good at all.

Oh, it's HILARIOUS to me now. Then, not so much.

I do get irrationally scared at scary movies later on in the dark. The Saw movies are the worst for me. Something about having to cut off your own limbs and stuff, I'm sure. If someone else is doing the mauling, I hardly bat an eye.

I won't go out alone at night unless I have to as I was almost snatched as a teen.

The paranormal doesn't scare me, I just started working with a paranormal research group and I love it. Living people; now they scare the hell out of me.

I am always scared when I am home alone. I truly believe my house is haunted.
My place is haunted, by a lil girl. I have a video of when she turned on my flash light on my bed while there was a power outage at night. She moves around my dolphin figurines on my shelf. Late at night when I get water she'll be in my hallway and i often stop and ask what because I think it's my own daughter.

I believe my house is haunted by a woman, though I have never seen her it's just the vibe I get. My theory is she seems to get really upset whenever my fiancé is away for work and that's when things start happening: lights turn on, doors lock, people scream, my dogs freak out, you can hear footsteps upstairs... It makes me nervous just thinking about it.

Edit: And I refuse to set up any cameras in my house because in the Paranormal Activity movies that's when things got REALLY bad. Also, I believe it is my friend's fault this ghost is here, as one day she came over and told us about how she thinks a ghost has been staying around her (much more detail just too long to write) and every time it's around her Dream On by Aerosmith comes on the radio. Not even a minute after we walked into my house that damn song came on, any time we talk about it that song comes on.

That is one movie I have never been able to bring myself to watch. Hubby bought me The Grudge (but the Japanese one) on DVD about four Christmasses ago, it's still sitting on the shelf LOL. The other movie I am having a difficult job at getting into the DVD player is Insidious.

I'll pluck up the courage one of these days and watch both :D

    HAHAA!

I was once almost shot, for real, after going camping shortly after my camping friend saw the blair witch project. We drank beer all night so of course i had to venture out of my tent to pee in the middle of the night. My friend, jaybird, was sleeping by the smoldering embers leftover from the fire. laying on his back. holding a shotgun across his chest. I glance over as he sits up, brings the shotgun up shouting "Who the fu@k is there?!" Jesus jaybird. I'm just peeing.
