7' 52" I think from what I worked out as my current average. Although Nike+ tells me 7' 16" on my stats so it must have happened but I don't know when that was!

    Sadly, 13 min per mils
  • When I was younger it was 7 minutes. Since I started running again 5 months ago I'm at 10:15.

But have you tried running just a mile as quickly as you can? Just by coincidence I watched a film last night about some lad trying to run a 4 minute mile.

Roger Bannister managed it... I'd love to be able to run that quick but even the most speedy people that I know seem to be between 5 and 6.5 mins/ mile

    10:40/min mile
  • I'm averaging an 8:40 pace right now in my runs. Just doing one mile for speed, I could probably break 8:00. I'm also at 201lbs right now with a goal weight in the 160's. Once I hit my target I hope to be running in the low 7's or maybe even high 6's.

For me it would probably be about half an hour haha. But my other half does 6 minute miles, maybe faster as he usually does his 3milers in 18-19 minutes. But he is training for the Royal Marines so he is super fit!

Average non-running non-working out middling overweight chick here, but I did a random quick one mile on my treadmill a couple weeks ago just to see and i was able to do it in 9:19. I'd like to get down to 8 something and then try to get to distance 3miles in under 30 would be great :)

I never run just one mile all out. I did 3 x 1 mile repeats at ~ 6:30 per mile earlier in the week.

I'm thinking it could get close to (maybe just under) 6:00 for a single mile.
  • my fastest mile 7:35
  • When I was younger, I ran in a mile in 5:15 (on the cross country team). Today my fastest time is right around 6:00. Not too shabby since the faster time was done 20 years ago when I was in high school

I haven't tried just one mile in a while, but my last 5k was 6:50 per mile.

I never tried to just do one mile and see how fast. My fastest time on long runs is currently 8:47 per mile but I know I did one of those miles at a 7:35 pace. A year ago it was more like 13:20! Losing weight rules! : )

Now? I'd be lucky to get 8 or 9 min., but in my 30s @ 165 I used to run like 5:10 for a single 5:30's for a 5K, 5:50s for 10 k and about 6:00s for a half marathon and 7:00s for a whole marathon. Those were the good ole days!

P.S. I just got under 215 from 250 and decided it was time to throw some interval running with my walking...it felt great. Taking it slowly because I don't want to derail my progress with a leg injury.

I've never tried to run a mile as fast as possible. I tend to stick with my 10 min mile pace for most of my runs. I should just try for the fastest I could go- I'm guessing around 8 1/2ish mins. I did do a timed 1/2 mile run and was able to get it under 4.

5:54 this morning at 52 years old. 5:46 in 1974 when I was a freshman in high school. I didn't run any timed miles in between until recently.

Currently, 14 mins, but I've only just started. I've got a lot to learn and a long way to go.

10:20. pretty happy considering my fastest before that was a 12 mins and that was when I was 17, in high school and actually weighed less, 270 lbs. then I do now, 315 lbs. my feet hurting lately plus I have a bum right ankle related to my cerebal palsy. after seeing my doctor I got refered to a podatrist. I have no arch in my feet and he feels I would benefit great from orthotics for my feet. I'll be seeing him next week. I hope my time improves. I to get under the 10 min mark before Summer.

ha I just realized I posted in this same topic a while back...... YAY for improving on my time!!!
gawd typo. working graveyard.......where's my coffee?

Depends on how many miles after I must run!

If it is just one mile as fast as possible - around 7:45
