So last night I opened a banana to eat and my husband told me that I was doing it wrong...

So that got me thinking, how do others open their bananas?

From the top (or stem)
Or
From the bottom (or nub)

Bottom. But your husband is wrong, there isn't a right and wrong way to do it.

I've heard you're supposed to open it from the bottom because that way you won't get those stringy things.

I haven't tried it though. I'm strictly a top kind of banana opener.

From the top, but if it's a little unripe and won't pull, I take a knife to it's neck (right a the bottom of the stem) and then peel it that way.

Oh and I wanted to add that actually the way a banana grows, we do eat them upside down (If you eat them from the stem side first) since the grow upwards.

It also helps avoid bruising the bananna. I worked in a kndergarden, taught the kids how to open it from the bottom and we never had to help them again with it.

Top. If that doesn't work though I will resort to the bottom.

I love informing people that that's how monkeys do it!

From the bottom. The monkeys know best, and it's so much easier.

Brings new meaning to "monkey see monkey do".

I always did the top, because no one showed me different, and I was not the wiser.

I will try the bottom next time.

Middle - Never like doing things like anyone else.... lol.. seriously, cut it in half, peel middle up and middle down and the end of the banana in both cases forms a handle/holder to keep your fingers nice and tidy (and you can peel it all the way up and down and still not drop it.

If no knife, then from the top down halfway and work on it till the banana surrenders... lol.

I give them my scary look and yell at them in my dad voice, and they peel themselves.
It's good to be a dad..

If only they would slather themselves with peanut butter...
