How to drink more water

I use Crystal light some days and Other I add lemon and/or orange's slices. Fruits are great to give a bit of flavour!0

I don't have a problem with water, but I used to forget to drink it. I started to keep a refillable bottle with me at all times, and whenever I felt like eating something I'd chug some water and wait a few minutes to see if I was actually hungry. It helped me up my water intake quite a bit and after awhile it was just a habit.0

DONT DO IT!!!! YOU DONT NEED IT! There is NO SCIENTIFIC evidence that you need 8 glasses of water. it comes from a study that was misquoted about total liquid needed. the study mentioned MOST people will get MOST of their liquid from their FOOD. Google "8 cups myth" or something similar. Do your own research. If you LIKE drinking all taht water, do it. if not, DONT! Stop guilting people into it. Tea, coffee, crystal light, soda, everything but alcohol count for water... it's mostly water. :-)0

I have a gigantic tervis tumbler that keeps water cold and holds 16+ ounces in it. Every time I empty the glass I mark the bottom with a dry erase marker and it is fun to add up all the tallys at the end of the day - it is kindof a game now.

mmm...orange slices - never thought of that and I love orange. Will have to try.0 -
I absolutely hated water, couldn't choke it down some days. I've found drinking through a straw helps. I try to drink at least one glass first thing in the morning before I leave for work. I have 32 ounce mug with a straw that is always on my desk and try to get 5-8 drinks every 1/2 hour or so. I will finish one mug before lunch and another one after lunch. I may have one or two cups when I get home, but not usually. Weekends are the hardest for me because I'm out of my routine. I don't see any problems with crystal light, but if you want to cut it out, maybe try cutting back slowly - only add 3/4 of a serving for a while, then 1/2, then 1/4 til you can get down to just water. You will get better at drinking it if you just keep trying.0

I used to drink the stuff, but that got boring so now I just mainline the stuff...I'm sitting here with a 4" firehose pumping it into me as we speak..honestly!!
The only way is to drink it...pure and unsullied. :drinker:0 -
I got myself a 32 oz. nalgene bottle. I drink it full at the gym, then the rest throughout the rest of the day.0

I'm with you! I absolutely hate drinking water! I'm rarely thirsty unless I'm working out or it's 110 outside!
I also am repulsed by plain water even though our supply is of good quality.
There is nothing wrong with Crystal Light. I even buy the generic diet koolaid and drink it all day long. Cherry is my favorite. Yes it has artificial flavors and artifical colors but if I drink plenty of it and it helps me lose weight and stay hydrated, I'm healthier than I was without it.
Also my Dr. told me that you can count the water you put into food. For example, I add 2/3 or 1 cup of water to my oatmeal in the morning and I count it in my total. Juice bars, yogurt and fruits have water in them too.
It is suggested that we drink a minimum of 8, 8 oz glasses of water per day.
An 8 ounce glass of water is about the size of an American juice glass, not the huge bottles of water or soda that we tend to buy. I bought some cheap plastic cups (resusable) that hold about 8 oz and just refill them often. It's easier for me to see the bottom of that little cup and drink it than to stare at a tall glass and think, Ugh,, I do NOT want to drink that much.
Good luck to you!0 -
Tell me about it. I have always hated the taste(or lack there of) of water. I still do, but I still manage to get down as much or more than I need.
There are three things that help me: 1. I hate the taste of artificial sweetener, so crystal light, et al are completely out for me. So, water is pretty much all I can drink without negative impact on my Calorie count and Carb count. 2. I have a water bottle with a straw that I keep full and in front of me at all times. Everything I look at it / think about it I drink from it. 3. Making drinking water a habit. I chug a couple cups at a time in the AM, with lunch, and at dinner. The quicker I get it down the less time I have to spend thinking about how much I don't like it.0 -
I have a hospital cup with a straw, it is 4 cups, I randomly slurp on it throughout the day and I be sure to fill it twice!0
-
I also hate drinking water, but when I put a lemon wedge in I find I have no problems. Also green tea is good! Oh and drinking with a straw....I'm like a kid, I have to make it fun. And I have a special glass that I use at work that holds 16oz....drinking 4 of those seems less daunting than 8, 8oz.0

I am the same as you. I can not stand water. What I do is i use crystal light in my water. that way my water has a flavor and it more like juice than water. i would try that.0

sugar free squash love the stuff0

Start early in the day. Drink a glass of water before you eat or drink anything else... It helps a lot0

I have a 32 ounce water bottle. We have something called true lemon, but lemon slice will do too. Just fill it up, once as soon as you get up. Drink it down. I usually chug it, then drink another one with your lunch, chug it down. You get your water in for the day. Try being me, I try to drink a gallon a day to compensate for all the meds in my system. *squishes out the thread. LOL GL0

I add a orange or lemon rind.0

I love water. Being from Italy that's what you drink on a regular basis, sodas and juices are for kids b-day parties, so it just comes natural to me. Anyway I find it hard to remember to drink even if I walk around with my water all the time. I found a great android app (Drinking Water by Chickpin) that makes your phone sound like it's pouring a glass of water every so often. That helps me.0

If you don't like plain water then drink something else. You just need to consume enough liquids, it doesn't have to be plain water. I like water, but I drink mostly tea becuase I like it more. And who in the world told you carbonated water would ruin your bones. Nonsense.0

I've found that making the water warm-to-hot helps me to drink it without noticing it.0

I have a 32 oz Camelbak that I fill with ice and water at least 3 times while at work. I try to chug water at work because the water here is so cold, and so much better. I'm not a water person either, but I swear, for some reason, water practically makes the pounds fly off of me. Last time I weighed myself over a weekend and I didn't drink that much water and the next day, I drank my daily amount, and I swear I lost like 2 lbs the very next day.0

I have a BPA free 32 ounce bottle. I drink two of them before lunch (= 8 glasses). Then I drink one more in the afternoon, and one more during the gym after work (=16 glasses or a gallon). On non workout days, I drink 2 bottles before lunch and 2 bottles before I leave work. This way, most of the water passes before I go to bed. I like drinking water though and don't use flavor enhancers. I tried orange or lemon slices and it just aggravated my acid reflux, but I do know of others that use citrus slices. That is a good detoxifier too.
Oh, and I run ALL my water through a PUR filter. I have one on my tap at home and a PUR pitcher at work. Otherwise, I think non-filtered water tastes disgusting.0 -
What counts as a glass?? I have lots of glasses of all sizes - from about 200 ml size up to a pint! Not sure which size to use when counting 8 glasses?0

This is absolutely true. I just drink what I need, and it generally works out between 4 -10 glasses a day, but I don't ever make myself drink it if I am not thirsty.0 -
I was a never a big fan of drinking water either! However, I did find this water bottle and now I can't stop. It is called CAMELBAK and I LOVE IT!!! I found mine at Target for $13.99. It's spendy, but I now drink a ton of water!0

Have you tried adding natural flavors to your water (like slices of cucumber, orange, lemon wedges, etc)?? That will give it subtle flavor (with no sugars, calories, or chemicals!) and it's so refreshing!
I was going to say something similar.0 -
You might just need to get used to it. Maybe start with 2 glasses of plain water and drink the rest flavoured with fruit as others have suggested or a tiny squirt of lime juice. My personal favourite is herbal teas in so many delicious flavours.0
-
Not sure if anyone stated but don't underestimate fruits and veggies that contain water. That is a great way to get your water as well.0
-
MIO works well for me! I have different flavors that I keep everywhere...work, my car, my purse, home, etc. Plain water is just yuck!
^^^^ This !!!.. Makes it ALOT easier0
