Do you shower at the gym?
Replies

Nope. I live two miles from my gym, so I hop in the truck, drive home, toss my gym gear in the laundry, and run nekkid up the stairs to have a shower.0
-
On my lunch break, no. There's no time. Fortunately, I work in a big room by myself where nobody else has to experience my funk. Besides, a few swipes of pit stick under each arm does wonders for hiding the aforementioned funk.
Other than that, I really only shower at the gym if I have somewhere to go directly from the gym. Otherwise, I prefer to shower at home. It's got nothing to do with modesty, or anything like that. I just simply wanna get home as soon as I can when I'm done at the gym. My dog misses me when I'm gone.0 -
generally I don't. I get there at 5am when they open and when done, I I drive home (1 mile) - can make the coffee while showering.0

When I go to Lifetime, yes. At the school gym no. I like showering at the gym better. It's kind of luxurious.0
-
No i dont, i usually go to the gym and go home and shower..at the ymca here, they have seperate shower rooms, like multiple rooms with a shower and everything, so that everyones not in the same room, that would be horrible, i wouldnt be able to stop thinking people were staring at me.0
-
yes cause other wise it would be a while before getting home. I don't drive and take a bus.0
-
Yes... because I sweat. A ton.0

Yep, sure do. And I don't belong to one with all the stuff provided. I haul my stuff in every time. I work out for an hour or more on the floor and sweat a LOT short shower and then I swim for about 20 minutes. I won't put my sweaty gym clothes back on and I want to get the chlorine off my skin and hair SOOOOO I shower, wash my hair, come out wrapped in an over-size towel (so all parts are covered) and USUALLY put on my make-up before getting dressed. Then I get dressed and blow dry my hair and I am set for whatever is next....shopping, volunteer work, baby-sitting or spending time with my husband. I used to go through the same routine before work.:blushing: Saves MY water.
I wear shower shoes in the shower and around the pool and if I go into the steam room or sauna or jacuzzi. The only time I pull them off is IN the pool or when I dry my feet to put on my shoes.0 -
i wish i had that gym where we live . q tips razors big fluffy towels omg thats wonderful .. you mean you dont have the ppl wearing there sweat clothes into the jaccuzie.. wth so no i do not shower at the gym where we live in San Pedro California the gyms here suck and are grosser than gross.0

Yep I always shower in the gym. I live 5mins from it so I could come home and shower here. But we live in a rental house (had to leave our own house behind as my DH got a new job :-( and the showere here is crap.
I'm not shy or afraid of getting naked in the locker room. I just hate having to look at all the eastern european women who are toned, no flab, brown and hairless. Makes me sad to look at my own pale, flabby, hairy (waiting to be waxed) body. But sure hey...c'est la vie!!!0 -
If I have time to, absolutely. When I have my son with me, my gym has a 2 hour time limit on how long your child can be in the children's center, so it just depends on how long my workout takes (and how long I spend in the steam room---I can't resist a good steam after a workout). If I don't have time for a full shower, I at least rinse off really quickly and change into clean clothes...I'd rather not be sitting in my soaking wet workout gear (because I sweat a LOT) any longer than I have to be!
ETA the showers at my gym have a body wash dispenser in them, so if I just have time for a quick rinse, I can use that and be good to go. Otherwise I keep a set of shampoo, conditioner, face wash, and body wash in my gym bag, plus a pair of flip flops---I never walk around in the shower area barefoot. The gym provides towels and blow dryers as well.0 -

I go to Lifetime too, it so is!! I could probably spend an entire day there0 -
depends. if I'm going home right after then no, cause I'd rather shower at home. But if I went to the gym on my lunch break or before work, then yes cause I dont want to go to work smelling funky.0

Not a chance. My gym's showers are one giant communal space with no privacy, curtains, or even a zig/zag doorway into the square of doom. That, and I live a 10 minute walk from the gym. I'm pretty sure even in the middle of winter I'd rather walk home than shower in that space!0

Yesss! I sweat, and I don't like to have my sweaty clothes on one second longer than I have to, that feels gross...I like being clean! We have separate shower stalls, but even if we didnt, Id still want to be clean. But Im also not at all modest, and I can totally understand if someone is and would bear being sweaty til they get home. Naked bodies just dont bother me in any way.
But as far as the cleanliness of the gym, first of all, shower shoes/flip flops people! Never ever ever be in a public place with your shoes off...thats just unsanitary! I wear mine into the steam room or sauna, and also shower in them. My feet do not touch the floor.
Then again, if my gym was as dirty as some of you describe yours, I wouldnt want to risk any of that either. On the other hand, if my gym was that dirty, I wouldnt work out there!! Theres almost always a cleaning lady in the changing room, and its always spotless...so Im a happy camper, and now feeling pretty fortunate as well.0 -
Not anymore it's full of creeps.0
-
you get used to it . it's a school gym, so not too many creepy people, lol0
-
Noooooo. I don't need to see vajayjay, I have one of my own.0
-
I don't use communal/public showers. Partially because I have body issues and partially because I don't know how sanitary the shower stalls are, what's been on the floor or the walls or touched the handles, etc. At least with my own bathroom I have complete privacy and I know how clean it is since I'm the one that cleans it.
Plus at the gym I go to, I normally arrive around the time they clean the locker rooms and shower areas and there tend to be women who will sit butt naked on the benches in there and do a full body lotion, face cream, hand cream, foot cream routine in there and frankly I'm not paying to look at other women who are out of shape in the nude. If I wanted to do that I'd go look at amateur porn.0 -
Nope. They dont' have full size towels or anything to use, so it's basically like packing an overnight bag and that's a waste of time.0
-
I'm like three minutes from my gym and I shower at my gym... actually, I run around the neighborhood, sign in to the gym, JUST to shower sometimes... gotta save money on the water bill... might as well use the gym shower even on my "off" days... #frugal0
-
Yes I do, and those showers are goooooooooooood. Especially after an intense workout. Yezzir...0
-
No, since i ride my bike to the gym, i would shower, and then need another one as soon as i got home. It's better to just wait.0

My YMCA has super clean bathrooms/showers so I'm not worried about that.0
-
I only shower at the gym when I use the pool. I live pretty close by so walking home sweaty is no biggie.0
-
No. I go right home after the gym and shower there.0
-
Yes. I get 2 hours of child are at my gym so I'm gonna use it up.0
-
I have to shower, otherwise I'd slime my office chair or car seat.0
-
My gym is quite small so there are no communal showers, two private showers with locking doors etc, and then a disabled room with combined toilet & shower etc.
We use the disabled one as my partner and I can both jump in and wash ourselves and get out of there as fats as possible...0
