Holy geez, I just have to say thank you to those of you who are sharing recipes. I'm still reeeeally new to this, so I'm still stuck in the "I'll just buy a bunch of pre-made shakes from Costco" mindset. These are wonderful, and you can get so creative with them!
So far, I've loved both protein powders I've had. I can drink it with just water, but usually I try to make time to throw it in the blender with ice and a banana, then sometimes I'll add yogurt, milk, or occasionally peanut butter. It's time consuming to get the peanut butter in, because it just doesn't go in well without warming it up. And, I'm doing this with stuff I already have, which means big jars of regular peanut butter, not powder or 'natural' peanut butter.

I'm a huge fan of Torani sugar-free syrups. I add them to chocolate or vanilla protein powder to create just about anything. I keep a good stash at home - peanut butter and coffee are two of my favorites. With peanut butter I also add a tiny bit of salt so it's not overly sweet, and gives the taste of a saltier peanut butter without the added calories. And cinnamon goes great in just about everything.

I also will do a pumpkin pie spice combo (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger) in vanilla. Flavored extracts also work well for a subtle flavor-add without additional sweetness.

And for my base I usually use unsweetened almond milk. At 35 cals/cup, it's rich and creamy with good calcium and is a good balance to the sometimes over-sweetened powders.

I have a protein smoothie every morning for breakfast:

2 scoops PHD diet strawberry protein powder
chopped banana OR handful strawberries OR handful bluberries
    2 tsp greek yogurt
    5 ice cubes
    1 pint water

This fills me until lunch - I just have a couple of cups of green tea inbetween.
