I'm a vegetarian, so hate me. lol
Sorry... I kinda reluctant to start this thread because there are millions of meat eaters out there who hate our guts. I just want the Meat-eater VS Vegetarians/Vegans to stop.
I am not the kinda vegetarian that tries to brainwash or force people to think what they wanna eat. If you wanna eat meat, go ahead... If I'm a vegetarian, THEN LET ME BE ONE! Stop posting stupid and childish thread about endless debating on being vegetarians/vegan are bad and blah blah blah... if you tell me, "oh i ate roasted chicken." I'll say, "Sounds yummy! Glad you have a great meal."
No, I'm not being a hypocrite vegetarian. I'm being open-minded that I accept meat eater and non-meat eater. What and how we wanna eat, we can suggest but we don't start to put guilt trip on either both side.
We all (both meat eater and non-meat eater) should grow up and accept that even the world has F**ked up people, they'll always be meat eater and non-meat eater. lol... i know you'll go "duh" but there are people who'll start s**t again.

I am a former vegan and currently considering being a pescetarian. People can eat whatever they want, and I won't like/dislike them for it. I just have a problem when vegheads rant about how "meat is murder" "you should all feel guilty" "HUMANS WERE NOT DESIGNED TO EAT MEAT". I have met a few vegetarians like this, and they drive me nuts. I have met other that just accept that some people will always eat meat, and I have no problem with them. When I was a vegan I never pushed things on anybody. hopefully none of this came out as rude..0

Well said. It's up to each person whether or not they eat meat. I couldn't care less what people eat (there is a vegetarian in our house). I don't eat as much as i used to and i can honestly say i don't miss it too much :~)0

That's awesome, girl! Same for me too! I just annoyed when two of sides are being so childish... lol0 -
I think being hungry all the time and only nibbling carrots makes you veggies crotchety.
ROFL. No - truly - just take it with a grain of salt. or tofu...
People tease to get to know you, to have fun with you, because they like you and want to talk to you. If they're having you on for being food (after all, you're eating what food eats) then have them on for being a cow murderer.
Have fun baby. roll wid it.0 -

See? Now think of something to pick on me for. Have some fun.0 -
pps I haven't had any meat for about two weeks now. Do not appear to be dead yet... (checks pulse.)0

I am with the Can't We All Just Get Along sentiment. I waffle back and forth....some weeks I eat meat, some weeks I don't. Either way I don't give a frack. If someone told me I had to pick a corner, I'd walk to the middle of the room and park my voluptious *kitten*. Whether it is because of moral reasons, medical reasons, or what; being a Vegetarian will not kill you if you get the right fats and protien, and being a Meat-Eater will not kill you as long as it is all in moderation. Now...everyone back to your corners and eat some carrots, or ribs, or whatever...just quit fighting.0

I'm a meat eater. Infact, as long as I can remember, as a child we use to kill an animal (A big fat cow) and I, prolly around 7 years or so, would help the family in cutting it to pieces and everything. Thats the kind of background I come from and its very rare for me to have a meat free day in my diary.
However, I donot see a problem with vegetarians. Why would I object to a lifestyle that have worked for thousands of years for Indians and other far easter cultures. The only difference between those asian countries and the western vegetarians is that the Asians drink milk and (please correct me if I'm wrong) the western version of vegetarianism donot allow milk.
I dont understand why anyone would avoid meat but that dont mean I hate on anybody saying no to meat...0 -

Don't worry I lub you... even if you are a stinkin' vegetarian! (buahaha...just kidding) :drinker:0

I'm that kinda vegetarians.
Riz9007 - it's okay if you don't understand why we avoid meat... but there are people who don't understand and they got all mad. lol...0 -
Vegetarianism isn't extreme at all, so I don't see why people hate. My mother has been a vegetarian for 40 years, and she's absolutely fine. Vegetarian food is delicious, and it's good for all of us to make a night or two a week meat free. Plus tofu, cooked properly, is so good.
Veganism, yeah, I can see why people find that a bit extreme, but really, there are so many dairy substitutes now that it's not a problem. It's up to the induvidual what they do and don't want to eat. It's healthy to be both vegetarian and vegan, as long as the person uses things such as nuts, seeds and lentils to make up for the protein, etc. Also, with supplements, there's nothing from meat that is off limits for vegetarians/vegans.
I personally hate red meat, and I haven't eaten it for 6 years now. Hasn't affected me in the slightest.0 -

In my line of work (I work as a member advisor for a nutritional supplement company basically counseling nutrition all day) and I have heard it all. We have the carnivores, Vegans, Vegetarians (all kinds), Pescatarians, people who don't eat grains, people who will not any carbohydrates whatsoever, RAW, Paleo, people who will ONLY eat alkaline foods, and strange off-shoot diets where I am left puzzled and confused, and more. What it boils down to is proper nutrition is not just in the foods we eat, but in the choices we make to supplement nutritional deficiencies. Those who don't eat meat need iron from spinach, kale, beets, etc. If they do not get enough, take a supplement. Also Omega3 fatty acids, whether it be from flax seed oil, hemp oil, or a Vegetarian Omega3 supplement. People who limit or restrict grains must get carbohydrates from rice, potatoes, fruits, or beans. Meat eaters must ensure that they get enough fiber, and those who eat a very large amount of red meat really should take a CoQ10. It is all about making wise nutritional choices. Let everyone eat how they want to eat, and only worry about what goes into your mouth...and out of it.0

To raise awareness about getting veggies is a good start. Meat Free Monday is a common occurance in our house. It is a national compaign to remind people that veggies need to be part of the diet too.0 -

It's be proven than vegetarian men live over 7 years longer than meat eating men and vegetarian women over 4 years longer. So I guess it's good for you as long as you you aren't hoping to die early!! Red meat and processed meat has been linked to cancer by Harvard.0 -
Sorry, people 'hate' vegans and vegetarians? I've never in my life met anyone who hates a vegan or vegetarian!0

my step son is vegetarian for 4 years now and I am a vegetarian half the time... Not for any specific reason other than I like vegetarian food LOL .... People are so silly I mean who cares what and how someone else chooses to eat !!!!!!!!!0

Do you have a link for that? Without reading the study, my initial response would be that correlation is not causation.
I doubt they have proved it's the vegetarianism that caused them to live longer.
To clarify, I think deciding on a vegetarian/vegan diet means you've at least thought about your diet. It's likely that your reasonably well informed on nutrition as you need to be to maintain your diet in a healthy way. It could simply be the case that this awareness of what their eating is what causes the difference. There are many many people (generally non veggys) who never think about their diets, which tends to lead to obesity and related health issues.
To do a proper comparison, you'd need to compare nutritionally informed meat eaters to nutritionally informed vegetarians. If there is such a study then I'd love to read it.0 -
Totally agree with this thread! Seen enough of the "we're better because...." threads. The amount of times I've actually being called things like disgusting, unnatural etc for not wanting to eat meat - I've never forced or tried to force other people not to eat meat. Why can't we all just get along?0
-

Me either in fact I envy some of the Vegans... If only I had that will power but I just LOVE fish and cheese way to much to give it up0 -

I eat meat, but I agree that it's good to go meat free a few nights a week. For one, a lot of red meat in your diet isn't very good for you and for too, it's just a good way to find ways to be creative with some vegetables :].0 -
Im a meat eater - however I participate in Meatless Monday.... (So I straddle both sides of the fence!)
What I HATE though - are the posts that go along the lines of.... I've decided to give up meat/dairy/etc because I think it will help my weightloss... How can I do this?
Like seriously - you just woke up one day and decided to become a vegan with NO RESEARCH. This makes me cringe and want to slap stupid people often.0 -

This is exactly why I love Meatless Monday! Since starting 6months back - Ive been so much more creative with meals!!! The other benefits are wonderful too of course.0 -
I wouldn't say I hate either one but, I have found more often than not it's a veg* person that tries to make me feel like I am some kind of degenerate because I eat meat and that I have a major issue with. You know, for the people that don't want a nice juicy T-Bone steak and have no idea what they are missing because they have never had one don't act like I'm pure evil for wanting one. If all you want to eat is plants that's fine with me but I'm not gonna pass up my prime rib or porter house no matter what you say and to be honest I'm tired of hearing about it. So, please, eat your tofu hotdogs and leave us meat eaters alone to enjoy our dinners.0
