I understand that some meat-eaters have gotten harassed by vegetarians. When I ate meat, I got it too!

But unless you've been a vegetarian, you probably don't realize how much harassment we get about our diets. It's not fun to get picked on and ridiculed (and often in public, for some reason...) for our nutritional and/or ethical choices.

I've been a meat-eater, a vegetarian and a pescetarian and no matter what, someone has had something to say about it.

So I'm with Carolin. You're still allowed to have your convictions (Lord knows, I've got LOTS when it comes to food), but you don't need to be rude. Unfortunately though, some people here will always be rude, so what can you do?

I'm all for vegetarianism - it means more lovely lovely meat for me! :D

I genuinely don't understand the decision to be a veggie though. If you have illnesses etc that's one thing, but I don't understand the moral objections. That doesn't mean I don't think people have a right to do what they want though. (For the record, I understand that people have objections to the cruel treatment of animals destined to be food, but there are ways of obtaining meat that has been properly cared for...To me it's like never buying a car again because some people sell stolen cars.),

Also I think micls has had a hard time! Seems to me like he was genuinely interested in what someone had said and a couple of you jumped on him like he was being argumentative and demanding proof.

What I think is funny about the whole vegan / vegetarian thing is that some of these people are worse than religious nuts pushing their agenda on me. I don't knock this lifestyle, if you want to live this way, more power to you. I personally think that vegans can only exist in a first world economy. You can buy anything you want to support your lifestyle, i.e. clothes, food, etc. but when the economy collapses, or gas is so high that food shortages start to appear, your lifestyle will come crashing down! I'm a subsistence hunter/gatherer. I hunt, fish, garden, butcher my own meat, can and preserve. I can't afford to to be a vegan...LOL

I'm a meat eater. I don't mind either vegans or vegetarians at all. I only have dislike for the ones that have an issue with are the ones that try to tell me what I should eat. I'm not telling them they need to add some bacon & ham to their salad, I dont' want them to be telling me I'm terrible for eating meat.

I donot eat read meat (due to being food poisoned at a BK over 18 yrs ago), however I do eat chicken and seafood. I really want to give it up not be a vegan but just not eat chicken and fish (if any one has any suggestions I will try to consider it). Remember the only thing that got me to stop eating red meat was a nasty *kitten* Whopper.

Not every post made or everything someone says has to have the agenda of making a difference. Sometimes people just like to talk and to see if others share their opinions, or just to voice their opinions.

Not everything needs to make a change...

Correct. It's just that in a little broader perspective this seems a rather odd dietary choice.

Sorry, people 'hate' vegans and vegetarians? I've never in my life met anyone who hates a vegan or vegetarian!

    same here.

hate is a very strong word.

do you really believe people will not associate with you based on how you eat? I think that is more of a mental condition  to make a statement like that...like paranoia? I'm being light here.

I'ts funny to talk about vegans and their way of eating, comedians do it all the time, right? Unless someone has a serious eating or obsessive eating disorder we can make light of it without fear that we are hazing. lighten up and please stop making comments using the word Hate.

here, watch some of these and enjoy. what vegans say:

I am a meat eater but I have nothing against anything anyone else does to keep themselves HEALTHY! I love veggies too but being already protein deficient I have to get mine in and a vegatarian/vegan lifestyle would probably not work at all for me, but if it works for you then fantastic~ share some of your favorite recipes with me please! I think all the hate and "no that's wrong, it works this way and ONLY this way" is BS from all corners, every single person is different and what works from one may not work for the next, if you are happy and healthy then I am happy for you!

Quoted from the OP "We all (both meat eater and non-meat eater) should grow up and accept that even the world has F**ked up people, they'll always be meat eater and non-meat eater. lol... i know you'll go "duh" but there are people who'll start s**t again."

Im asking the OP if she thinks this post made a difference. She said multiple times that arguing about this is stupid. I agree. Its a simple question so why don't you let us discuss it.

the vegetarians and vegans that get under my skin are the ones that are doing for the animals, if you want to do it because you feel it's healthier that's your deal. For some reason it seems to be the save a cow bunch that shove it in your face.

Sorry... I kinda reluctant to start this thread because there are millions of meat eaters out there who hate our guts. I just want the Meat-eater VS Vegetarians/Vegans to stop.

And what about the veggies who hate meat eaters?

I'm a pseudo vegetarian, I quit eating meat when I was 19, I'm 31 now. Stopped eating red meat when I was 7 or 8, I lived in England and my dad thinks it's funny to scare me, so he told me all about mad cow disease and showed me what it did to humans, and I never touched beef again, then I got salmonella from chicken, and stopped eating it, never liked the taste of pork or seafood. So now, I will taste chicken, if it is over cooked, to where it's so dry you need a glass of water to swallow, and I will eat tiny bits of burned bacon (and I'm talking burnt, burnt), because if it's not overcooked my mind automatically goes to raw meat (so I'm a little crazy)

But often when I go out to eat, I get a lot of "OMG hunny, how do you survive" or "That's not healthy, sure I can't bring you a small side of ham" some even offer to bring it on the house, really? You think my big *kitten* is gonna starve to death if I don't eat a steak RIGHT NOW, or I stopped eating meat because I couldn't afford it? But I blow it off and laugh about it, it's funny to me. And I still have a bunch of co-workers that try to feed me their food and one (my favorite) waves bags of beef jerky in my face (that stuff stinks so bad), and he hung a sign in my office that says, "If you love animals so much stop eating their freaking food!" but it's all in fun.

I'm not all about the animals, and I have a family of 8 and I cook meat for 7 every night because I think that protien is good for my growing babies. I don't see anything as harassment, just some people are uneducated on vegetarian diets, but I would never let that ruin my day, or a part of my day, humor can be found in anything.
