    Think long and hard about the decision. I got a bunch of tattoos in my very young life, and it has been a PITA in my professional career. The line of work I have grown in to is not one that is open to tattoos and piercings.

    I prefer to say i'm "pure." Though those who know me well will likely laugh a lot at that word describing me. Which is why i love it!

    I seriously LOVE needles. Like, loooooooove them. The slight burn, the scrape, it's awesome.

    I also like shots and giving blood, though, so take that for what it's worth. I'm strange.

    Tattoo your name somewhere visible so you don't forget it... alcohol or oldtimers disease, works either way.

    I have 4, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE tattoos, on guys especially.
    But my husband has none.
    And I don't even notice.

    Only get one if you are getting it for you.

    A sassy attitude goes a lot farther than some ink.

    We have a rule about tattoos in our house (for those who don't already have one): Think about something you want and keep that idea in your head for one year. If you still like that idea one year later - go get it.

    Once you have a few, you get better at determining what you do, and do not want.

    I have a few, and still use this rule. Thank goodness - otherwise I'd have a fairy and a rolling stones tongue. No bueno.

    Just so you're aware, white is one of the fastest fading colors.

    Anyway, I'd start with something small-ish, and probably not in a super sensitive area like ribs, foot, breast bone, or head. Something meaty :)

    the question you should ask yourself is "do i WANT one?" lol. and if you do, think long and hard about what you want and where. i have 7 but i only like 1/2 of one of them! yes, i said only 1/2 of ONE of them! LOL. i got them when i was young and didn't know any better. lol.
