    Hi everyone.

Did 7 miles today with my daughter in the jog stroller. I've been battling some sort of cold for a couple of days now, but I felt the need to run, regardless. I felt fine running...it is now that I've stopped that I feel like I'm going to fall over!:ohwell: I'll definitely sleep well tonight. Bah! I hate being sick!

Speedwork can definitely make you "cry for your mommy". If it doesn't at least on occasion, you probably aren't working hard enough! Too funny!

By the way, tomorrow is my speedwork day, now I'm a little scared........

No run for me today. However, I have been inspired and decided to sign up for the "Toughest 10K in Texas". Not only do they say it is all hills, July in Texas can be exceptionally brutal, even at 8am! Should be fun!

    Happy day!

I did a P90X shoulders and arms workout this evening. This morning I set out for my run and 1.5 miles into it my sports bra broke! It zips in the front...soooo, luckily I was near my parents' home and they took me home. No more zipper fronts for me!

Way to go! I LOVE the feeling of having my butt kicked by speedwork! Speedwork has helped me improve all areas of my running. I think it also toughens you up mentally. Once you've cried for your mommy during some speedwork and survived the workout without dying everything else is relative:drinker:

Oh yeah, I LOVE speedwork!! Too funny!!

the bottom, like right under the knee cap, I hope it's nothing and just sore from the long run. I've been icing it and taking motrin, so we will see. but it's been good because I've been getting some swimming and biking in. swimming again (in the pool) tomorrow, and then we're swimming in the ocean on thursday, then depending on how my knee is feeling, I'm going to try a short run on Friday.

my olympic is 19 July!! Good luck to you too!!! :flowerforyou:

Well, it doesn't sound too bad like your IT band (side of the knee) or anything. Swimming and biking are always good for cross training! So we'll be *tri*-ing the same weekend! :drinker:

Had a great night! 3 volleyball games (won all 3!) and then a 4 mile run. Hot and muggy, but still felt good!

Did 3 miles in the humidity today....wow what a difference!! I was struggling toward the end today but it felt good. I was hoping it would start raining but no such luck.

A coworker p*ssed me off this afternoon. We were all talking about running (well, about a particular town runner that I admire but have never spoken to) and I mentioned black toenails. He looked at me and said that I didn't have to worry about that because I was never going to be a hardcore runner anyways :noway:

Well....that just motivates me even more. I'm pretty sure that I can train hard enough to at least do a half marathon next summer.

Anyways, I think I work with a bunch of donkey's rear ends.

    Happy Running everyone!!

Annaliza – that’s too bad. Sometimes I have found fitness folks to have an “elitist” attitude. Pisses me off too. I find most runners are never this way, so you found some “special” ones. You are the real deal, and everyone started off with a first mile sometime. Just keep hanging out with us.

Kechie, it’s great how you are always complimenting everyone, what a positive person! What are you training for, why the passion to help so many others with running? Your genuine care for others really shows, thank you!

Heather.. good job on the stroller run and great job to battle the cold, sometimes it is good medicine. Hope you feel better soon!

Jess…nothing but A game for this girl. WOW. It is amazing how much you fit in each day. Keep it up, your dedication is amazing.

Annaliza: You should let that motivate you even more! My dad (who is by the way almost 400 lbs) told me I need to stop training so hard because I wasn't "built" for running. He said that runners who run long distances are beanpoles. I'm 5'7 and 143 lbs. I have a very athletic frame. He said bad knees run in the family and that I should give running up before I end up on the operating table. It hurt my feelings at first, but now I just use it as motivation. It occurred to me that maybe the bad knees come from obesity. So keep at it girl!!! I'm sure you are doing great! Most people cant even run 1/2 mile with out stopping, let alone in the heat and humidity!:flowerforyou:

    Good morning:flowerforyou:

Today is another rest day for me. I would normally do my speed or tempo workout. Since school is out for the summer, I'm going to start doing speed or tempo workouts on Fridays. We're off to the pool this morning.<yay>

For those of you getting beat up by Negative Nellies and Neds in the real world, you have the right idea - prove 'em wrong. Get the motivation you need to do so from your online friends.:drinker:

Raymond, I'm still new to running myself - 2 years now. I remember the newbie phase. It was tough. Am I eating enough? Am I eating too much? Am I going to kill myself trying to run? Comments from non-runners in real life. I got through the newbie phase with support from people on this very message board. Those people are no longer on this board but I'm still running. I'd like to think I'd still be running anyway but I truly don't know. So I use my power for good. I support other runners.

My half marathon is the first weekend in November!

    Enjoy the day
    -Kechie.

Good morning! I had an enjoyable 4.5 miles today.

I hope all of you with the negative people will rise above them and use their negativity to empower you! I certainly don't "look" like your typical runner -- so I can't wait to show off after my first 1/2 in Sept. i know there will still be negative people -- but I have tried inviting them to run with me. Most of them couldn't last 2 minutes and it usually quiets them. I truly think a lot of the bad attitudes come from jealousy. they wish they had your dedication and determination. So RUN ON -- and enjoy it!!!

Six mile run this morming -supposed to be tempo - with the heat and humidity, the group sort of fell into "long run" pace, but, you know, some days, you're thankful for that:wink: P90 X tonight.

Boy, if I had to look a certain way to run I would not have even started! Thank god for will power and determination to change yourself and make you a better you!

With that, my baby turns 11 today :noway: That motivated me to do a little more today for some reason, so 4 this am and another 3 planned for tonight with hubs.

    Have a great day everyone!

Raining here for the next week, so I don't know what I'm going to do with running. Sadly its not calm, gentle, warm enjoyable-to-run-in rain but hard cold rain. Not going to risk getting pneumonia... i'll just do some workout videos for now :(

I'll see what I can sneak in and hope that the rain breaks.

I am set to start week 8 on Couch to 5k tomorrow - did intervals last night - just couldn't motivate myself to just keep running. Funny how much my mental state plays in my jogging. That was 3 days in a row of some jogging so today is a rest day. My hips were really hurting last night - getting better as the day goes on.

msarro - treadmill?? maybe the weather will break - you could always run some flights of stairs

    Way to work hard everyone.

Rest day today.... Sort of...just sprint work and short mile run during boot camp. Sore shins so I'll have to assess my plans for the next 2 days.
I was planning on 5 tomorrow and 8 on Saturday, but it's also supposed to be 90+ with 90% humidity so .....see how it goes!
    Have a great day everyone!

Sounds like several of us get to run in the heat and humidity--I thought it was only miserable in TX right now! I got out a couple hours later than usual this morning for my speedwork so I had to walk some of the slow segments. I definitely used my lungs today! I do love the feeling of running fast though, if only for a short time.

Msarro, you can send some of that nice cool rain to TX--we are in a drought and have hit 100 every day for a week!

    Must..find..a..swimming..pool........

Walked 3 miles today as it was a rest day. Going to run 4 miles tomorrow and then possibly 5 on Saturday.
