    I thought this was face book...no I didn't.

When you get to the point you have to do your pants up before you put them on because you can't reach around your own belly its time.

When your already bad back is made worse by excess weight its time.

When old age is not an option in your family for other reasons (cancer) why add heart attack waiting to happen to the mix.

To outrun the zombies. Or, at the very least, not be the chick at the back of the pack...

If the zombie apocalypse never happens, I'll settle for looking good and being healthy for any future kids I might have. Also, my family is very active and I'd like to get back to feeling comfortable on camping trips, hikes, ski trips, etc.

    But really...it's about the zombies.

lol I can so relate to many of you!! Except for being hot... that probably isn't in my future although I had my moment before I had 4 kids!!

Never say that! It can be in your future.....Being "hot" is so much more then the weight being gone. It's How you feel about you. I thought I would never be Hot ever again. I think it is as much mental as physical.

I look at your profile pic and I say the Hottie is still there!

I want to feel comfortable with my body, not like it is my enemy that is dragging me down. I want positive self esteem. Life has lots of worries and I don't want how I feel about my body to be another negative on the list.

Also, a little more "tangible" -- I want to be able to "keep up" with my army spouse. We have an active lifestyle, and I want to kick it up a notch so I can be a good running partner, among other things!

Complete honesty- (AT FIRST) it was to please a former boyfriend by having a hot body.

Now--to please myself with an amazing hot body, and new crazy confidence! :)

I had no idea about mfp until someone on fb wrote something about it. I had lost 5 pounds on my own before I joined, but joining here is the best thing I've ever done for myself and I'm here to get fit and sexy before I turn 40.

It doesn't have a lot to do with the way I look...
    BUT...

I die when I'm going up a set of stairs and in all seriousness, if an apocalypse happens, I'd like to be able to take care of myself.

See?? I'm not the only one planning ahead! ^_^

I am here because I need some way to track what I eat, and this service is very good at that.

I want to be proud of what I look like, not just beause I own it beause I earned it.

Because ff I'm slimmer I can escape the zombie horde faster, of course

Seriously, though, because I'm sick of being fat, it's pretty much the only health concern that I can actually have any control over at the moment.
Plus it's good for me to have my food intake written down so that I can see where I need improvement.

I'd also like to see the "pretty" person that my husband says I am.

    Zombies again. Winning!

To live to see my children have children...to keep up with the teens that I teach...because I finally feel that I am worth the effort, and that my husband deserves a wife that can keep up with his appetite.

I miss who I was before I was injured in the Army and gained all this weight. I loved being a GYM rat before I was married.

that and my marriage fell apart, so I went back the the gym where I was happy

Don't rule yourself out of being hot - you're way too young to think you're past that, Mom or not!!! :flowerforyou:

My why - to improve my health and fitness level. MFP has a great food database and even better people and forums!

My first thought when reading the title only was: Why do skydivers wear helmets?

After reading the text, my answer clearly changed. I'm here because I chose to be. Due to a history of heart disease in my family, my doctor wants me to keep track of what I eat. However, shortly after my visit, he told me I'm healthy as can be. No high cholesterol, no high sugar count, nothing wrong and all my blood levels are perfect.

Nonetheless, I'm here to stay. I enjoy tracking my eating habits. It's kept me from overeating and in the process, encouraged me to exercise again...which is nice.

I'm here because I'm tired of hearing my jeans talking to me by saying swish swish swish every time I walk.

No seriously, I'm approaching 60 and I want to live way longer than that. It was sad when i realized that my parents who are at 80 years young are much healthier than me.

I did lose a lot of weight about 6 years ago but gained much of it back. I did it before my writing down everything that I ate. It's nice to have a program on my iphone, ipad and computer to do the same thing. I do believe that is what helped me be successful last time. I'm finding it harder to lose this time, but I'm not going to give up.

That is a very moving story. It makes me wonder...what would have happened a few years ago if my doctor had told me to write down the food I ate? Maybe I would have been spared a few very unhappy and overweight years that's what!

As for how I came to be here, it's a little bit of a long story so bare with me. A really great friend, Mike, mentioned how he lost his weight (by tracking his calorie intake) and offering to help me figure out how to do it too. So, he figured out from my height and weight I should be eating under 2,000 calories. Which was something NO ONE had ever told me before. Everyone else, including doctors, told me I was overweight and needed to lose weight and would suggest one diet after another, which always failed after a few weeks because DIETS DON'T WORK! LIFESTYLE CHANGES DO!! After 2 wks of handwriting every calorie I ate (no record of exercise even though I did increase my exercise level at Mike's suggestion), I began to think...there must be an easier way. I was searching for how to create an excel spreadsheet to track calories and found a thread in which someone had asked the same question. The answer he got was "Why would you use excel when you can use myfitnesspal.com? It tracks calories, exercise, and all the nutritional values for you." After reading almost the exact same answer from several people, I looked it up and boy am I lucky I did! I love this place. Tracking is so much easier, everyone is so supportive and I absolutely LOVE the forums. So I am here to stay!!
