Can anyone suggest anything that would help me lose it? I'm tired of looking a little on the square side lol

Sure.....scissors.....lay.on.the.floor, palms.by.your.side....lift.both.legs.6.inches.off.ground.then.keeping.legs.straight, alternate raising and lowering left leg then right....do not let either touch grond.....start with 30 seconds.....works quads n upper butt
When I first read this, I thought wow what a gory dude, lipo would've been safer, but I guess the idea is sound enough....but remember you can't spot train \m/

I recommend a very sharp knife, an axe, or one of those deli meat slicers if you're really a masochist.

Just remember that normally when you lose weight it is 'First on, Last off'. Just keep working away at your whole body and it'll reduce. You can't spot reduce!

I was just asking about this at my gym. Get a big ball, lay on your front side with your hips resting on the ball, put your feet at the bottom of a wall for stability then raise yourself up and down with your hands behind your head. Planking is suppose to help too.

Shelf hips. I had them too! Once you get well on your way you will lose all over your body. The closer you get to your "natural" weight, but more your body will change shape for the better. In the mean time eat good, clean food and exercise the best you can it will help your entire body! I used to be quite pear shaped, and although I still have heavy legs, after losing 70 pounds from 205 down to 135, I am told I no longer have hips or a butt! Never thought I'd see the day! Keep up the good work and you'll get there soon enough!

You learn new things every day. Upper butt fat....lol

Maybe some oblique work? Or something that works the back, like rowing or pushups...etc.

Edited to say: Aren't these just love handles?

I know exactly what you mean!!! I have that problem too. I started doing the Brazilian butt lift videos for like three weeks and saw really good results... but then I stopped because I went back to school and after moving to a new apartment I never saw them again.Anyway, also there are some workouts on youtube ( http://youtu.be/wbdCT4cI6WY )

Burn more calories than you are consuming and you will get rid of fat, unfortunately you cannot decide where it goes from without surgery.

What you can do is to choose where you can build muscle (tone up).

If you look at athletes whose sport focuses on one or two muscle areas, they tend to have bigger arms/legs or whatever they use the most but the little fat they have is generally spread across their body.

Thank you all for your input. I actually don't have any love handles only that stupid hump by my cheeks lol. I am really starting to eat well and exercise everyday. Hopefully that does the trick

i have "upper butt fat" too!!!!!! i'm glad i'm not the only one!!!!

i KNOW you can't spot reduce and losing body fat is the only way to go about it... but i really feel like dead lifts and squats have helped with the shape of my butt. it's definitely losing it's squareness LOL

I call it "upper butt fat" as well! LOL Too funny  I'm in the same boat as you wondering what exercises can be done to help the area since spot reduction isn't possible...which is totally lame, by the way.Glad to see this got a lot of feedback. Looks like I'll be starting some squats!

Stay at a calorie deficit until it's gone. Haha - I call it my "shelf" and hate it!

Also do butt-toning exercises so that when the fat is gone the booty is in the best shape of your adult life.

You can't spot reduce. Eat at a moderate calorie deficit and lift heavy weights to get the best results. Squats, deadlifts, and lunges have transformed my butt.

I think I just feel better knowing I'm not the only one! I was just hoping that as long as I kept up my calorie deficit and general exercising it would eventually go away. Seems like that might be the case, but it's early days for me yet. Good luck!
