Thanks everyone! When she said that it did not click right away, then I got home and was like wait a minute did she say I would not be able to reach my goal??? She did not use any facts or give an explanation to why like, we are going to build muscle or that is too low etc.. nothing. It was just simply it was so long ago that I weighed 130 so I would not reach it now. Then I thought like some have said maybe she said that just to P me off to make motivated me or something. I am going to have ask her about it when I see her next and ask her to explain. It was not my high school weight it was my mid 20's weight and for being 5'1 with a chest and hips 130 is on heavier end of the chart. I will follow up and let you all know what her response is to why she thinks/said that.

I'm 31, and last year I got down to what I weighed when I was 18.

Even so, what you were is completely irrelevant. We're talking about what you can be.

It probably would be best to ask your doctor. Trainers are NOT always educated; a lot of times, they simply pay a fee, take a few classes and they're "licensed". Best to find someone who is truly educated in human physiology.

Your trainer must have looked it up on Google.

I agree with everyone. Get a new trainer. I NEVER want to be told I cannot do something.

Did she tell you WHY she thought that? It seems really reasonable to me. You're just a little peanut, 130 isn't unreasonable.

LOL thanks!! Love your profile picture!

You're only 5'1? 130lbs is very reasonable! Honestly, that would really piss me off. It's not like you're trying to weigh anything unrealistic. You pay a trainer big bucks not only to work you out but to motivate you, and that's not motivational. I am 5'6 and my goal is 135, and my trainer told me that is a great goal! And I am only 8lbs away from that now. I would not continue to pay money for a trainer who isn't 100% positive and supportive.

    I'm currently 5'1" and I'm 130lbs, looking to get down to 100lbs. I don't see why you couldn't get down to 130.

I think that's an excellent attitude to take. If you don't know why she said it, then ask her! If you don't like the answer - or feel that it's fair, you can find another trainer if you feel that's what you need to do. Best of luck to you!

What is your current weight and bodyfat %? If you are very lean, the trainer might be correct unless you're willing to give up some mucle mass
