*i do laundry on off peak hours which are 7pm to 7am
I do this too. And have switched a lot of our lighting to LED bulbs, which initially are expensive but when you figure out how much they use in electricity and and how long they last, they are worth it.
I also shower more at the gym during summer (water costs more during this time) and try to be outdoors more to save on electricity.

True. You bragged about doing that, too. Thanks for reminding me what a stand-up guy you are. Oh, and sorry for not always quoting your signature and all your titles. I think we've gotten the point. I do appreciate your laughing smiley face after your comments, though.

I make my own laundry soap and dishwasher soap. I raise my own animals for meat and feed them with 'left over' produce/bakery/dairy we get for free at my local gocery store. I'll make my own bread over buying it b/c I can make it for pennies on the dollar. If I can do it myself, I won't pay someone else to do it.

    Cheap, frugal, smart. Whatever.

See isn't it fun?!! I do it all the time now (practically since they pulled signatures) because I KNOW people will jab fun at it. Oh and some people actually ask for help on fitness and nutrition.

Now that I know WHY you do it, I understand so much more. Wait. No, no, I don't.

People ask the entire network of people for help with fitness and nutrition. Your credentials don't particularly make you stand out. Not in the way you want them to, at least

I used my secured line of credit to buy 200 shares of Apple on Monday for $570, and sold them today for $612. Cost me $40 in interest costs, and I netted $6200 after taxes.

With that, I'm planning on buying two-ply toilet paper, Heinz ketchup, and a new pair of Nikes.

Time it took me to execute two trades online - three minutes. Couldn't leave my desk and get free sugar packets from Starbucks in that time.

There's being frugal with money and being smart with money. The latter is a heck of a lot easier.

That's not cheap, that's a whole other level of stinginess. It's like stepping over a dollar to pick up a penny.
I'd pick up the dollar...............while diving for the penny.

It's an expression that means you're so cheap (and have tunnel vision) trying to save a penny you don't SEE the dollar, therefore you can't pick it up. Of course, you'll say you do, blah blah. But that's not the meaning of the expression.

My friends and family always rag on me for being "cheap", "frugal" and a "bargain hunter" all the time. So how cheap am I? If I buy 2 ply toilet paper.............................I separate it to use it.

    Beat that.

My great grandmother used to dry out her toilet paper and reuse it.

Granted, she raised 6 kids through the Great Depression, was 96 and suffered from severe dementia, but I digress. Her nurses had to sneak into her room every couple hours to throw away the pieces hanging over her shower and replace them with clean ones!!

I once did this promotion for a new application that you can order your coffee on your telephone instead of waiting in line at cafes. The promotion was each new sign up gets a new coffee. The promo ended in march, but I have been signing up various e-mails so that I still get a free coffee once a week. LOL.

You haven't seen my inbox. It takes time to go through on a daily basis and I answer EVERY question asked of me there. Many don't even post on the forums at all. So yeah, I think I do a pretty good job with FREE advice that's verifiable and up to date.

I switched to whiskey, gets me there quicker, and I spend less in a weekend (this is at-home drinking)

But, I'm back to beer. It's so good.

So how does that expression apply if money is saved and invested, there's no debt (except for mortgage) and I don't pay full price for items that others regular will willing pay more for? Don't get how I'm missing the boat there. Please explain.

I garden so I can freeze and can food to last until the next growing season. Also raise my own chickens for eggs and chicken to fill the deep freeze. That's about all I have. LOL

That't not really cheap. That is fun.

I agree totally! It just happens to save a good bit of money on groceries too
