I am reading these books. Only have the first one so far. I'm so not into that kind of sex, but the fire between the two of them, is awesome. Hopeless romantic I am though, I wish Christian would change and become the man she wishes he was. He'd be even hotter in my book if he did. And I find the "inner goddess" comments funny. ("she gives him a vulgar expression with her hand", I find them all funny). And give the lady a break, it's her first set of novels, she's still learning. She's obviously doing something right if she has this huge of a following with her first book alone. I must write down that other book title and author somebody else mentioned, and check out that book. I miss the sex my husband and I used to have, and feel like I'm reliving the heat and fire through these novels. Already they are helping in our bedroom.

I really like the books. I am the first to say I don't think the writing is great and teh characters and situations are not terribly real but the situations and the style is good - naughty without being smutty.
Definitely a quick, light read that can get your motor running..
It sounds like a few of you have other, better suggestions in similar genres - care to share?

If you are liking the BDSM theme..Cherise Sinclair has some teriffic books. At least I like them. The Shadowland Series is
awesome. I want to go there!!! You can get most of them from Amazon..

Also, Laurel K Hamilton has a series..the Anita Blake series
    JR Ward..Black Dagger Brotherhood
and..as you've heard, the Sookie Stackhouse series..

All 3 are vampire stories...i liked all of them better than Twilight. And I'm sorry, I just don't see the comparison of the Gray series to the Twilight series..

I'm on the first book (we are reading all three in my bookclub)...I think, so far, it is just alright! I agree that the writing style is a little blah. I can think of better ways to describe those 'inner feelings' LOL!

I'm reading the 3rd one now. One of the best series ever written! I'm hoping for a 4th book!

At the end of book 3 there is an excerpt from what I believe will be a new book from Christian’s point of View...Fingers Crossed...

I am half way through book 1. The writing isn't great but so far it is entertaining. I guess it helps if you like BDSM.

    What is BDSM?

    Bondage & Discipline / Domination & Submission / Sadism & Masochism.
I love the series and have them on PDF if anyone wants them!

How did you get them on PDF? I could read those on my Nook Color...right?

I started one and couldn't finish. The writing is ridiculous. Just beyond bad. And I actually liked Twilight, so my standards are pretty low.

Also, I cannot believe some women are attracted to Christian Grey. In any way whatsoever. He's a grade-A douche. No wonder so many women have horrible relationships if this is what they find appealing.

It also confirmed to me that I am decidedly NOT into BDSM. Like, at all.

    Count me among the naysayers.

    ***THIS***

The writing was really not good. The story dragged on way too long. Anastasia annoyed me to no end. And Christian was as the above poster said... a grade-a douche. Sure the sex was hot, which is not a bad thing by any stretch. But, there are plenty of books you can read with hot sex and better story lines.

I started it, didnt think I would like it, turns out I love it, and could have an orgasm just reading it, these books open your eyes to a whole other level of sexiness so to speak. They are fun, flirty and you hope that in the end she gets the guy like she wants...have to read the next 2 as well. almost done with the 1st.

Not my cup of tea, really - read the first book due to all the hype (I know, I know). Found it rather dull and dry, and poorly-written. Of course, I'm just jealous because the author is making squillions and I'm not, despite being an occasional smut-peddler. BOO.

    Annnnd. . . .ordered.

Opted for the actual book rather than the kindle version. Don't want the sun to cast a glare when I try to read it at the pool!

Oh and the books come with the most beautiful covers!

I haven't read these books and I'm not interested actually.... especially hearing that the writing wasn't the greatest.

But if you like these books, try reading The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice................ yes that Anne Rice.

I tried. I like escapism but between the bad writing and not hot sex? There is much better fan fiction out there that deserves to be devoured. This is nothing to write home about. Sorry.

On 3rd book now...... Its not the best writing of course, even the Author admited that..its her 1st book and she was not looking for a literature award.
I enjoy it, I'm hooked and have 3 people in my office reading it and like it
its all how the person interest and how broad their mind can go, sexually... I'm not into the BSDM but its fantasy we all know that.. but it is deffinatly NOT boring!

A couple of friends were talking about this on another forum yesterday and they hated it.
By the sounds it is a parody or a mockery of all the worst stereotypes of women there are...weak,make poor choices, money grubbing etc.

A friend mentioned it and sent me the ebooks so I started book 1 but I'm tending toward most of the naysayers here. It hasn't grabbed me. I haven't gotten that far but I too knew exactly what the book was about when he walked into the hardware store and started with the rope and the sly "I am not the one for you" crap while trying to reel her in. Bad writing? Ah, I read a lot of books and I've come across worse writing... but story line... this hasn't grabbed me. Hunger games? Grabbed me from the first sentence. I am reading this just because it was suggested and because I generally like to give a series of books a bit more latitude because I might have something to read for a longer bit of time. I can't imagine getting caught up in this at this point. Also, although I have no problem with BDSM it's not my thing on a regular basis.

The lamest book ever. A 13 year old could have written it better.

I completely disagree. All of the people I know who disliked it had no problems with open mindedness at all. They only disliked it because they were distracted by the poor writing and the extreme overuse of the same words and phrases.

Heck if you want good BDSM heavy on the D/s then go pick up the Gor series. He's at least a better writer than this! Heavy on the misogyny though. Fair warning.

I'm sorry but these books are not BDSM.

Read Kitty Thomas or Annabel Jacobs if you're into that sort of thing. Personally, I didn't like the books. When a book all about sex is boring then something is definitely wrong.

I've never read books like this before and don't know too much about BDSM; but I will say I loved the story... The sex scenes do get a bit much when every page you turn they are having sex, but over all I really enjoyed it and loved seeig how their relationship evolved... I read all 3 books in less than a week... LOL... I was obsessed and couldn't put it down.... I will be reading the whole series again!
