    In answer to the OP, I'd say that you should use it as motivation. Personally speaking, if I expressed interest and it wasn't reciprocated (not saying that would necessarily be the case, but worst case scenario and all that!), I'd feel awkward. And then that's a reason not to go to the gym, which is not an option!
