Zebrafish eye formation has long been a model for studying vertebrate organogenesis. Eye development begins in the late gastrula stage as retinal progenitor cells (RPCs) are specified in the eye field of the anterior neural plate. As forebrain cells converge to the midline for neurulation, lateral RPCs converge more slowly producing a wide eye field. After converging, RPCs then begin to evaginate to produce the optic vesicle (Rembold et al.). Several transcription factors have been determined to be necessary for proper eye formation. Mutations or knockout of one transcription factor in particular, Rx3, leads to anophthalmia in many different model organisms. Specifically in zebrafish rx3 mutants, the RPCs fail to evaginate from the midline to produce optic vesicles (Kennedy et al.). Rx3 has many downstream targets, but they have not all been researched in depth. Recently, Ig-domain protein Neurolin-like cell adhesion molecule (Nlcam) has been identified as a downstream target of Rx3 (Brown et al.). Nlcam is an evolutionary relative of neurolin, a member of the activated leukocyte cell adhesion molecule (Alcam) subfamily of Ig-domain proteins. Nlcam is widely expressed from the beginning of gastrulation to the end of somitogenesis. It is also weakly expressed in presomitic mesoderm during myogenesis. Both Nlcam and neurolin are expressed in neuronal cell and eye development (Mann, Hinits and Hughes). The Alcam family of proteins has been shown to participate in both hemophilic and heterophilic cell-cell adhesion. They have been shown to function in development of axons, cancer progression, and other developmental processes. The current study identifies Nlcam as a downstream product of Rx3 that regulates midline convergence of forebrain and RPCs (Brown et al.).

Hitchhiker: You heard of this thing, the 8-Minute Abs?
Ted: Yeah, sure, 8-Minute Abs. Yeah, the excercise video.
Hitchhiker: Yeah, this is going to blow that right out of the water. Listen to this: 7... Minute... Abs.
Ted: Right. Yes. OK, all right. I see where you're going.
Hitchhiker: Think about it. You walk into a video store, you see 8-Minute Abs sittin' there, there's 7-Minute Abs right beside it. Which one are you gonna pick, man?
Ted: I would go for the 7.
Hitchhiker: Bingo, man, bingo. 7-Minute Abs. And we guarantee just as good a workout as the 8-minute folk.
Ted: You guarantee it? That's - how do you do that?
Hitchhiker: If you're not happy with the first 7 minutes, we're gonna send you the extra minute free. You see? That's it. That's our motto. That's where we're comin' from. That's from "A" to "B".
Ted: That's right. That's - that's good. That's good. Unless, of course, somebody comes up with 6-Minute Abs. Then you're in trouble, huh?
    (*Hitchhiker convulses*)
Hitchhiker: No! No, no, not 6! I said 7! Nobody's comin' up with 6. Who works out in 6 minutes? You won't even get your heart goin, not even a mouse on a wheel!
    Ted: That - good point.
Hitchhiker: 7's the key number here! Think about it. 7-Elevens. 7 dwarves. 7, man, that's the number. 7 little chipmunks twirlin' on a branch, eatin' lots of sunflowers on my uncle's ranch. You know that old children's tale from the sea! It's like you're dreamin' about Gorgonzola cheese when it's clearly Brie time, baby! Step into my office.
    Ted: Why?
    Hitchhiker: 'Cause you're f***in' fired!

Dolphins: [singing] So long, and thanks for all the fish
So sad that it should come to this
We tried to warn you all, but, oh, dear
You may not share out intellect
    Which might explain your disrespect
For all the natural wonders that grow around you

So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish! The world's about to be destroyed
There's no point getting all annoyed
Lie back and let the planet dissolve around you
Despite those nets of tuna fleets
We thought that most of you were sweet
Especially tiny tots and your pregnant women

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long! So long, so long, so long, so long, so long! So long, so long, and thanks for all the fish!/ If I had just one last wish
I would like a tasty fish!
If we could just change one thing
We would all have learnt to sing!
    Come one and all
    Man and mammal
    Side by side
    In life's great gene pool!

So long, so long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long, so long, so long
So long, so long and thanks for all the fish!

[As Lone Starr is about to push the self-destruct button, Dark Helmet appears.]
Dark Helmet: Not so fast, Lone Starr!
Lone Starr: Helmet. So, at last we meet for the first time for the last time. (Thinks about what he has just said, then nods in approval.)
Dark Helmet: Before you die, there is something you should know about us, Lone Starr.
    Lone Starr: What?
    Dark Helmet: I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate.
Lone Starr: ... What's that make us?
Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing, which is what you are about to become. Prepare to die.
