Make COTTAGE CHEESE taste better?
Hi All,
I know cottage cheese is good for hyou and I have tried incorporating into my diet a few times but I just can not get over the taste and the texture.
Theres gotta be something healthy I can mix into it that will change the taste and hide the constancy.
Any thoughts?

I stir in 1/3 cup craisins. Nummy0

I used to get snack packs that had fruit on the side. I wasn't a big fan of all the varieties but it was relatively good. The fruits included blueberries, peaches and raspberries.
I used to not like it but I somehow got over it after those snack packs. Now I just eat it plain.0 -
Pineapple. Pineapple makes everything taste better.0

agreed pineapple makes it sweet so do peaches or strawberry jam.. but as for texture not sure I know I prefer large curd over small to me small is too liquidy0

Here is a recipe I enjoy:
1 cup cottage cheese
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1 scoop protein powder
add pumpkin spice or cinnamon to taste.
Mix with a food processor or hand blender under smooth.
I call it pumpkin protein pudding.0 -
If youre a fan of chilli, a few drops of chilli sauce are a great addition.0

tomatoes and pepper - YUM0

I love pineapples in mine, but it does add calories. The best tasting plain cottage cheese I've ever had was Simply Kraft... even the lowfat variety just has a great flavor compared to other brands. No idea why.0

I put either watermelon of honey in mine!0

Savory? Salsa.
Sweet? Crystal Light mix.0 -
I like to eat it with apple sauce. I grab a little bit of cottage cheese on my spoon and a little bit of apple sauce. I also like eating it with peach or pear slices.
I saw a recipe yesterday to mix half cottage cheese and half salsa in the blender and use it as a cracker, chip or veggie dip. I haven't tried it yet but if you like dips it might be worth it.0 -
I put either watermelon of honey in mine!
"or" honey0 -
One of my favorite snacks is cottage cheese and applesauce. Yum!0

Sweet? Crystal Light mix.
Cottage cheese mixed with Crystal Light sounds like the most disgusting thing since that poop thread0 -
I've never added anything to mine but pepper. But I will definitely be trying that pumpkin recipe! :-)0

I love my cottage cheese straight up! But in the summer, I love to eat it with right out of the garden tomatoes. Yum. Yum.0

tomatoes and pepper - YUM
My favorite!
Also, dice up an apple and throw it in with a little cinnamon (a DASH) and it is pretty good!0 -

This might be weird - but green olives and a bit of pepper is my favorite!0

If you don't like cottage cheese, then find something that is good for you that you DO like. If I truly don't like something, I'm not going to eat it just because it's good for me...there are plenty of "good for me" foods that I like to eat. I wouldn't stress about it. However, I do think that Hood cottage cheese w/cherries and pineapple is really good. The fruit is already mixed in it, and it's only 110 calories per 1/2 cup.0

I like to mix 1/2 cup of cottage cheese with fruit flavored greek yogurt (my favorite is the Chobani Strawberry). It's a great protein packed snack! Some might find it gross, but I actually crave it.0

I love berries of any kind in cottage cheese, but to really sweeten it up and help with the texture maybe get frozen berries and mash the berries and juice into it. I also get low-fat instead of non-fat because low-fat is more solid than non-fat and it's still only around 90 cals for 1/2 cup.0

If you're not into the texture of the curds, you can throw it in the blender and make it creamy -- then use it in place of mayonnaise in pretty much everything. spread on sandwiches or mix in tuna/chicken salad with a little pepper. surprisingly delicious.0

mix it with garlic powder and black pepper and throw it on a salad. if you need more flavour, use a light dressing like italian. i find you don't need much because the garlic powder adds a lot of flavour!0

bacon
can't BELIEVE the thread went as far as it did before the correct answer was revealed.
thank you, sir.0 -
nothing makes it better to me...but if I put fruit in it I can "choke" it down0

Peaches!! Or pretty much any fruit!
And, for a non-healthy option, add maple syrup. Not even kidding. It makes it so sweet it tastes like ice cream!0 -
I am hooked on fat free cottage cheese with sugar free low cal strawberry preserves and a scoop of either vanilla whey isolate, or vanilla casein protein. Depending on what time of day i make this or if its after a workout. I also love fat free cottage cheese with a table spoon of natural 100% almond butter and rich chocolate whey isolate (i call it Reese's inspired power cottage cheese) all these are fairly low in cals and very high quality protein.0

Add a chilled banana and blend it. It gets rid of the texture and the banana makes it sweeter. It makes a world of difference.0
