419 lbs. to 229 lbs. Today life is amazing!!

I just found & joined MFP yesterday. I wish I had found this site a year ago when I started my new lifestyle. I weighed 419 lbs at my highest documented weight. Today I weigh 229 lbs. with 44 more to go to get to my goal of 185. The day I made the choice to lose the weight I never would have thought I would make it this far. I am 46 yrs old, I had many health issues from RA to high BP.. I was taking 8 pills a day, only take one pill a day now. I could barely walk to my own mailbox without giving out of breath, today I walk 3-5 miles a day and workout for an hour each day. I one day hope to go on a hiking trip in the mountains of NC., I know now that that is not just a dream, one day I will do it!!!...I also am looking for friends here to support me & to support them and keep each other motivated..so if interested please send me a request...Thanks to all & have a beautiful day!!

Absolutely fantastic!!! Did you do it through diet and exercise alone or did you have bariatric surgery? Either way, losing almost 200lbs is an AMAZING accomplishment and you are an elite loser (maybe the only time it is ok to call someone a loser lol)!!! Keep pushing forward lady!!

Wow!!! How did you do it? I have a friend in a similar place to where you were -- over 400 lbs, suffering from depression and RA and tells me she can barely walk. I'd love to tell her your story.

I lost the weight with only my will power and determination..I didn't have any surgery, no pills, or program. I started out by just lowering my calorie intake and drinking water, I started to walk a few weeks later. I could only walk to the end of my road & back home. But each day even through the pain I went a little farther. That seems like a dream, even though it was just last year, today I walk almost everyday about 3-5 miles a day. I do have before pictures but I don't know how to put them on the board....I am going to go try and figure that out and I will post them as soon as I can. Thanks everyone for your support, I can tell this is a great site and wonderful people here to keep me motivated....wish I had found it sooner!!...Pictures as soon as I can!!

IIt is very hard to move when the RA is in flare...I also had a form of depression, and that in itself can be trying. But tell your friend that just start to move, even if it is just around here home inside, then everyday just do a little more. Some days are hard, and I remember crying on my way home one day thinking "why am I doing this to myself?"...But I am so thankful that God gave me the strength I never knew I had to keep going. It's hard to tell some one in pain to just keep moving, but just tell them to do everything they can do more than they did before. I wish you friend all the best, and I hope my story will help. Thank You!!
