OP you MUST APOLOGIZE for the insulting things you said. Obviously you were being rude & people have been given you awesome advices & yet dismiss al these things. I wanted to offer you an advice but I chose not to because I don't see why would I help somebody who act like they know everything. Sorry but you deserve a slap on your face

She already did in PM's. I'm at the park on my phone...but told her I would explain further when I get home.

I am sorry Cris - but apologizing in private does not negate insulting someone in public.

I am not on anyones side in this- but what makes you the "Apology Police" ? She apologized to him. He accepted.

I agree with you. Their business is theirs, and I don't think the OP needs anyone else's approval.

Of course you do.....BTW, loving the thread you just started as a result of people disagreeing with you on this one.

    ^^^ I agree wholeheartedly!!!

I sure wish we could build muscle in 16 days, but alas, we aren't built that way. I've been lifting heavy for 2 years and am just now starting to see the muscle I've been waiting to see.

I would keep lifting. Why would you want to stop? You're not gonna get bulky!!

Really? I've been doing cardio plus strength since I started my weigh loss journey (ab 8 or 9 months). Although I didn't start working out hard until ab march, but I'm already starting to see changes in my arms. I can lift heavier than b4. I don't really know if I've built muscle or just like what the guy said tht girl was getting from 30 day shred, but I have a little bicep. I've just started Chalean Extreme (lifting heavy) and cant wait to see what it does for my arms!

How heavy do you lift with Chalean?

I haven't been doing it very long at all. Like a week. at 1st I only had burn circuit 1, cuz it came with my Turbo Fire. Now I finally have the whole program. I'm pairing it with TurboFire. So this is my 1st week with more than burn circuit 1 lol I lift heavy enough to where I tire at 10-12 reps like ur supposed to. Depends on the muscle group she's working to what I weight. 8s or 10s. I need some 12s and 15s for some of the exercises. That might not seem like heavy to everyone, but you gotta start somewhere.

So 15lbs (I worked it out as 6kgs) is the heaviest you lift? What lifts?

I just want to say that I am NEVER posting another stupid board on MFP again.

Yes I am ignorant, and I posted an ignorant question.
Yes I got a response I didn't like and I REACTED POORLY and IGNORANTLY.

    I'M SORRY.

I have been sufficiently publically humiliated by my own actions out of my thoughtlessness and ignorance, and now by that of you all.

    Have a great ****ing day.

I read a recent study that measured the rate of muscle loss after quitting a strength training program.

(Read that carefully, I had a hard time getting it into one sentence so it may be confusing lol)

The study showed young people (under 30) experienced a relatively slow decrease in strength-- after a few weeks off the strength training program.

As for older people in the study, especially over 50, strength decreased sharply and fairly quickly after they quit lifting weights.

Moral of the story is, if you want to stay young, lift weights. -->Heavy ones!<-- and keep doing it

Jillian Michaels technically doesn't count as strength training. Doesn't mean it's worthless. I think you got your answer already. I skipped the forum drama, but thought the study was worth mentioning. I'll try to find it tonight.

Take a deep breath, and don't take the internet so seriously. The forums are a source of good information, if you want it. When you ask a question, just keep an open mind before reacting defensively. That's all. It's not a big deal. No need to feel humiliated. Nobody hates you.

I didn't read all the replies, but please keep up the strength training. Building up skeletal muscle will only make your life better. Besides raising the metabolism factor, having more muscle will benefit you greatly, especially when you're older. But, you have to be consistant with strength/weight training...I've been working with free weights for 15+ years, and it's the saving grace that hides my true weight (I don't look as big as the numbers say on the scale...THANK GOD) :drinker:
