I just got a friends request from an 18 year old young man. I am a female in my sixties and this has me a little baffled. Anyone?

You're never required to accept. I've had some requests that sort of creeped me out, so I declined. Easy as that

This is a place for encouragement, I accept all friend requests, you never know who you may help or who may help you

  • I say add him and if he does end up making you uncomfortable, delete him.

Maybe he's just looking for a "safe" friend. Someone he can feel comfortable with and not feel the pressure of sharing his struggles of his weight with a girl considered more of a peer. You could always accept and see if it seems ok and if it seems weird you could delete him.

You can always decline. There is no rule about always accepting. There is no contract between you and him/anyone else that you HAVE to accept the friend request. Neither is there a contract that you have to keep anyone on your list once you accept.

I think it's fine, but don't do it if you are not comfortable. I think we are all here to encourage & support each other. If you accept him as a friend & he does something you are not OK with, you can always remove him. Simple as that. :)

I can see your point, but one of the great things about this environment is that we all have similar goals, regardless of our age, gender, sexuality etc. Personally I'm open to FR's from anyone who's committed to having a healthy lifestyle and seeking to improve themselves (and I have a very varied, and VERY awesome friends list).

Whatever you are comfortable with, that's what you should do in this case. But in my opinion, I like having friends that are older and friends that are younger, the older people make good role models for me.
