diet cola

This the only vice I'm keeping! But in moderation. 2-3 cans a day.
so,,,,as many as 21 cans a week. Interesting interpretation of moderation.
I drink 2-3 cans a day. AND I drink 5-6 bottles of water a day. The can is 12 fl oz and the bottle is 16.9 fl oz. Therefore, 252 fl oz of diet cola a week in comparison to 709.8 fl oz of water.
Yeah, I would call that moderation.
drinking 21 cans of diet coke a week is not moderation. It doesnt make it moderate because you also drink a lot of water. thats kind of strange logic. bu whatever...if you want to drink it , then drink it. but why fool yourself that 21 cans a week is moderate?
Moderation is not a concrete standard. It is subject to interpretation. What you interpret as moderate someone else might not.0 -

I drink diet coke every morning. Prob about 16 oz. It doesn't cause me to have sugar cravings nor has it caused me to gain weight. In fact I have lost 131 lbs. I used to drink it through the day but I have cut myself down to only in the morning. I did it for sleep reasons though. I ALSO drink 175-200 oz of water a day.0

My Wife and I was taking in about a 12 pack of diet coke in about 2 days time. And that isn't even counting the diet soda that I was drinking at work. One Day, when we went grocery shopping, we didn't buy any soda. Instead, we bought a 2 gallon jug and started brewing tea for our caffeine fix. And we stuck with it. Now, every now and then we will pick up a diet soda when we are out and about running errands, but we never bring any home with us.
Was it painful - Yes... but with the Tea, we were able to get our caffeine fix without spending more money on diet sodas. Now, we even stopped brewing the tea and have been doing water... for our caffeine fix - we started using the energy shots from Mio and even Great Value (Walmart brand) which have worked wonders for us.
Hope this helps0 -

How do you count your water drank?
Can I count my water that I add a Crystal light lemonaide drink stick to?
Can I count the water that makes up my shake?
What about the water in my Caffiene free Coffee?0 -
They replace the fats in normal coke with sugars, which are more addictive.

You couldn't pay me to drink it!! I personally don't think it should be sold!!! I'm no Puritan, I promise (I like my wine or cider) but besides the health problems associated with soda I also worked in a dental office for years and saw up close what it did to peoples teeth!! If you think that our teeth are the hardest substance in our body and it eats it away, just think what it does to your stomach and your body!!! I say NO THANKS,!0

And before the lashing comes out from the haters, there is aspartic acid in all fruits in vegetables and phenylalaine is in meats and breast milk (these are the 2 main ingredients in aspartame). If those 2 ingredients are "poison" then stop eating meat and fruit and vegetables.

Diet soda is fine to drink. If you don't want to drink it or don't like it, then drop it but dropping it is not required to live a healthy lifestyle.0

I'm desperate to stop drinking fizzy pop (may switch to fizzy water!), but by the time I've drank my 2.5 litres of plain water throughout the day, its a treat to have a diet coke on an evening
You didn't have your coffee yet, did you?0 -

Ummmm.... stomach acid is in your stomach, and it is much, much more acidic than soda (or pop as us Minnesotans call it). Yes, the acid in pop errodes the teeth, but don't extrapolate that into something its not.0 -

Yes, gastric acid has a pH of between 1 and 3. Not an issue.
However, I also shudder to think what diet soda does to our kidneys.0 -

From what I have read, the damage caused from over consumption of diet soda comes from caffeine. Do you also shudder while having your morning coffee or tea?0 -
Coke zero is my cola of choice! I would drink it all day if I could, but I can tell it causes me to retain much more water than usual. I have tried to stay with only one per day, but now that I have cut back....some days I don't have it and hardly miss it.0

The worst part about soda is the sodium.
When you drink too much soda over a long period of time, you produce more acid and this can damage your esophagus. This can potentially do irreparable harm if this continues for a long time.
The artificial sweeteners are most likely not good for you, but their effects haven't been proven and their is not a consensus among the scientific community about whether it's detrimental.
As for the caffeine, too much isn't good and it could be one of the reasons you're addicted to the soda. Maybe try to have one caffeinated and one non-caffeinated per day.
The carbonation probably isn't good for your body. I don't know as much about this, but I would bet that, similar to artificial sweeteners, there isn't a consensus as to the detrimental effects of carbonation.
Because too much of anything isn't good, I'd recommend trying to cut down to one or two per day and then maybe trying to cut it out except on "special" occasions (going out to dinner, going to a movie, etc...)0 -
Sodium? There's hardly any sodium in soda, about the same as regular drinking water.0
