My answer to alymarest's question, my exercise is my priority, no matter where I am travelling to or whatever plans that I have, between 8 and 9 PM every night is my exercise time, sometimes it is an hour later but I make the time for it. I eat as healthy as I could but not every day and I often manage to eat more calories than it says I should and those days I find myself eating six times a day, smaller meals spread out more during the day. It seems to be working for me but when I hit a plateau, I will tweak my calorie intake or up my exercise intensity to break through the plateau.

I congratulate you on not giving up.

alymarest - I have been losing 2lb/week the past couple of weeks, but it isn't always that high. It comes in fits and starts. I just took a look since I started on MFP and it looks like I'm averaging 1.6lb/week - but I was stuck for about a month!

What seems to have been working for me is changing up my routine every few weeks. At first I was eating no more than 1200 calories, and working out about 30min x 5 days/week. I started exercising more - adding in an extra 30-60 minutes in the evening. Then I hit the wall. I started eating more (including more of my exercise calories and making sure never to get less than 1200) and finally started losing again. I have actually had to cut back on the intensity of my workouts lately because of knee problems, but have been doing different things to keep moving - walking and yoga. I am surprised that the weight loss hasn't tapered off yet but I'm not complaining. I think changing up your exercise every few weeks is a good idea because it keeps your body challenged.

Another thing to consider is that if you are within 20lbs of your goal weight it will probably be harder for you. Your body (especially for women) wants to keep a little extra on hand for emergencies! I still have 50-60lbs to go at this point.

Good luck, and don't give up! Keep tweaking and you will get there. :flowerforyou:

It's so great seeing everyone's progress so far!
I weighed in on Saturday (March 1st) -
    Starting weight - 172
    Last weigh-in - 168
I feel so jazzed now that I can see and feel that pounds are starting to move off of my body that I have now made it my priority to get up one hour earlier each day and run/walk.
Since today was my first day, I decided to follow the advice from one of the posts and eat something before exercising and after (I chose an apple with two tablespoons of peanut butter - half before and half after). That being said, I did go over my calories today (not by much - 30). I guess I got a little to excited about eating the exercised calories back.
So, I'll adjust and make sure that I stay well within my limits tomorrow :)
Next weigh in day is Saturday - here's hoping (and WORKING!)

I need to challenge myself more to drop these pounds!
    Jan 1st weight 186
    Challenge start weight 182
    Goal weight by Memorial 172
(Goal weight by my birthday in October 150!)
    Pounds lost this week: 1
Pounds lost since starting challenge: 2

Personal challenge. Keep excercising regularily, add more weights.
Cardio 45-90 minutes 6-7 days per week. Strength 30-60 minutes 2-3 days per week.

I have been following my exercise plan well, and then some. But I still struggle with staying within my calorie range on Saturdays!

I also started in mid/end February. I'll join you in that "new beginning" because the chocolate chip cookies were yelling very loudly today.
So here's the deal, you kick me in the butt when the cookies are yelling and I'll return the favor when you have a bad day too. Now, if someone could just kick my butt out of bed at 5 AM so I can get that workout in:smile:
I weigh in on Saturday so I"ll let you know how the mean, evil cookies affected my goal!
