You don't need to eat clean.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree somewhat on this. There's too much processed garbage that's loaded with chemicals out there. I sure do feel a lot better since it's being phased out of my diet.

Part of what made me nervous about joining a 'fitness community' was knowing that there's all kinds of alt med and woo nonsense swimming around a lot of these places. It's nice to see there are at least some critical thinkers in the bunch here too.

If you can show me that eating clean is a necessity I will conclude that you are correct and I am wrong.

Additionally, clean is an ambiguous term. Is whey protein clean? What about cheese?

    http://www.wannabebig.com/diet-and-nutrition/the-dirt-on-clean-eating/

Moreover, will eating clean result in greater weight loss? Will the presence of "some" processed foods in the context of a nutrient sufficient diet, have any negative impact?

You are welcome to disagree, I am not offended.

But I am also not convinced that I am wrong.

You will not bulk up, ladies.

I laugh every time I hear this from my friends. "Ew, you're going to get all bulky!" If only it were that easy!

I agree that there are many poor ingredients in our foods that are not good for our bodies, but "chemical" is not a proper term to describe these. Water is a chemical, your body is a chemical, even the good ingredients in your food are chemicals. Hence, the use of the term "ingredient" in my description. I have to apologize if I'm coming across harsh. I not trying to, it's just one of those silly pet peeves of mine, darn it.

Thank you! I'd like to add... You are not suddenly allergic to gluten.

You actually can become suddenly allergic to gluten. Celiac's can be "activated" by an environmental stress or trigger.
