To the "Cool Kids"

Why do people think they have to answer something over and over?
Why not just not respond instead of getting "snarky"?
Because this forum, unlike the majority of internet forums encourages users to ask the same questions over and over rather than to search . Hence, people end up answering the same stuff over and over.
In other words, don't hate the player baby, hate the game.
Which is all fine and well until the ones who are doing the answering get "snarky"..
How about the ones who do the answering be the ones who hold a higher degree of patience for the new comers and the sometimes needed repetition?
Sure. Just as soon as people cease driving slow in the fast lane, and start signalling before turning or changing lanes. Oops was that snarky?
Everyone here has come in as a new comer at some point.
Do you honestly think each and everyone of them needs to be knocked around a bit before being allowed acceptance?0 -
i've never fit in with the cool kids, and i'm okay with that.0

As for that fast lane goes I stay in it.0

Nope. It's on a case by case basis. The level of the snark is usually in direct proportion to the brainlessness of the topic posted.0 -

Who gets to pick and choose what is brainlessness or not?
IMO if someone posts a question then I would say it safe to assume it is important to the poster.
If anyone disagrees then ignoring and moving onto something more interesting would be in order..0 -

Each individual gets to pick and choose, and how they reply is up to them. For those that don't like it, there is the option to Report Post or Ignore User, or both.
Even this very discussion we're having right now has been done over and over again.
Go on a car or motorcycle forum and ask which tires to buy or which motor oil to run. You'll get snarky replies back, because the topic has been discussed ad nauseum, and there is generally no consensus. Or go on the same car or motorcycle forums and post a topic like, "Help! My car won't go. I added few last month and drove 400 miles. it was fine and then it died. What's wrong?" You'll get laughed at. If anything, this place is pretty tame, when the analogous thing happens and someone who hasn't been eating asks how to curb the hunger pangs. Or someone who ate a brownie last night is asking if all their hard work from the past 6 months is going to be reversed.0 -
Again...Why bother answering if it is annoying one to the point of being "snarky?0

Any combination of, but not limited to the following: entertainment, boredom, counteracting misinformation, giving a straight honest answer without "sugar-coating".0

Me neither. I'm also not into kissing anyone's *kitten*.0 -
I'm not sure where you get this. I'm thinking about the people I think are the cool kids here, and they are beasts that go after it. They have their down days and their struggles like the rest of us, but they get results. I'd name names, but then it would start to approach if not completely violate forum rules because people will feel left out that they weren't named as one of the cool kids. But suffice it to say, the people who get tired of explaining the same thing over and over again, of answering a question and then getting blasted that the answer wasn't the one that the OP had been looking for, that can get kind of snarky and that sometimes have some random inside jokes, those folks get it done. Just sayin.

THey respond over and over because it is posted over and over. And from what I see, the truly cool folks around here, answer it because occasionally people listen and learn and are appreciative. And they stay cool and don't get snarky with a hard edge until someone starts asking questions clearly for the purpose of baiting, or arguing back answers because it isn't the answer they wanted. As I see your several posts on this otherwise awesome thread, I'm thinking there might be an example of someone baiting and answering questions just for the purpose of being irritatingly dense. Of purposely driving slow in the fast lane.
In civil society we don't purposely irritate others. And if we did, and then turned around and played the victim, "I'm asking a question because it is important to me!!! I need support!!!" Well, in real life we'd be shunned for that behavior. But it happens here and suddenly its about all those meanies over there.
There's been some suggestion that it is like high school to talk about the "cool kids", but really the mentality of the whiney side is more pre-kindergarten. Teacher! That girl was mean to me after I called her bulky!
At least it took about 5 pages before this cool thread was inevitably ruined by douchebaggery.. That might be a record.0 -

This gets a standing ovation from me.
Anyone I've ever seen ask a question generally gets the help they need. The problem is the way they then take that information. Instead of saying "thank you, I appreciate your help" they are resistant and defensive and won't listen. You tell a person exactly what they should be doing and you get responses like, "Oh I don't have time to exercise/I don't want to lift and be bulky/Eating more calories doesn't make sense/I know my body better than you".
People ask for advice, get it and complain about it. How long would you be friendly and polite about that?
Everyone I've seen who politely asks for help and listens to the advice given has no problem. This forum is a wonderful place for "support", the problem is some people just want to hear "You're great and special and you don't need to do anything you don't want to."0 -
Finally someone appreciates me... Took long enough!0

This is why I both love you0 -
the 'cool kids' are too busy being mean and snarky to spend time working out and eating right.

:drinker: Exactly!0 -
Does anyone else see the irony in a thread that began as a big positive thank you to the people that are willing to help despite the frustration they may feel, has been attacked (in a somewhat snarky fashion) by the people that feel the same people are not positive and helpful?
I LOL!!!0 -

I LOL!!!
I'm just shocked it was as positive as it was for as long as it was. Hell I was shocked when I read the first post! Thought for sure someone else wanted to blame their weight loss struggles on internet strangers yet again.
Some people are always going to whine. They'd rather do that instead of doing the work. And for some reason they're always surprised when they never get results. So they blame others.

I want to be a "cool kid". I know.....I'll start a thread about how awesome they are and how I admire them from afar. Then I'll post close-up pics of my muscles, so they'll think I'm awesome. Then I'll get some friend requests and I can be a "cool kid" too. Doh!......my life will be complete.0
