What does 1500 calories look like

Options
I'm a 5'2", 50 yr old woman, 130lbs, "good" body fat %, size 4-6 pants, and small size tops. I like to not be hungry, and being an older, small female I get less calories! I noticed a lot of people have very little food in their diary and are not aware of how much food you can really eat. 1500 is around how many calories I can eat on maintence if I laid in bed all day and didn't even lift my arms or wiggle my toes. Here's how much I can eat if I don't exercise. This is what I frequently eat! I almost always get out of bed and lift my arms, etc... so I get at least another snack meal than this on a normal day. And even when I was 1200 calories I could easily fit this in with regular exercise in a normal sort of effort. Post yours!
Breakfast that I have with black coffee every day. You can eat more than this if you don't pick a full sized bagel

By 10am I have to have more food!

This lunch is huge! I'm usually stuffed. I call it "chef salad as big as my head" and it's often Dinner when I'm low on calories but hungry
It packs well to bring to work! Thats a whole chicken breast I cook ahead.

I made my own chili recipe with black and kidney beans, plus less ground beef, less sodium, plenty of Yum! You can have a cup of this, plus an ounce of tostido's, fat free sour cream, cheddar cheese, tomato, (add your own "other" like jalapeno slices and avacado slivers)
I LOVE my nacho's out of this chili. Either I eat it like chili without the chips if I want more, or if I want more nacho's I skip the cheese sometimes. recipe here http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/326531-hotter-than-hell-bean-chili-with-very-little-meat?hl=hotter+than+hell+chili#posts-4361315

My friends can tell you I'm nuts for my Kemps frozen chocolate chip frozen yogurt. I have it once or twice a day. It's my indulgence that makes me feel good instead of sick in the stomach from a sugar binge. If I'm still hungry and want more food instead, then I can have a pretty good size filling snack instead.

    Go, Nammy, Go!!

Here's mine... to get recipe links, etc., check out my blog post on the same subject: http://cravingalife.wordpress.com/2012/06/20/what-does-1500-calories-look-like/

Put this in the record books and then immediately close those record books and seal them within a cement clump… this ain’t going to happen again… in the near future at least. I’m about to unleash my diary for this week… put it out there in front of all the masses to be judged and criticized and picked apart and told I have too many phosphates and too much riboflavin and not enough folate and you shouldn’t be eating that… on a “die”t? For crying outloud, Griselda! All of those have happened and all of those are the reasons my diary on MFP is private. It’s not to hide the fact that I only eat 500 calories… FAR from the truth. It’s because I’m still not over my fear of being judged for what I eat. It happened all the while I grew up… and that made things worse because I was constantly eating gross amounts of food in private… away from that judgmental eye. I had made the call to not make my diary public so that I’d take that closet eating temptation off the table. But, today, I’m stepping up to the plate and putting out what a day in my eating world looks like. I still won’t make my diary public… not worth the hassle… but this is one step in a more brave direction. I've lost 235 pounds on this kind of eating... so judge if you want, but I ain't gonna listen!

    IMG_0394.jpg

Those aren’t pancakes… they’re special protein pancakes invented by the Biggest Loser people… and I gotta say, I was skeptical, but these suckers are DEE-VINE, HALLELUJAH! I never knew blending up egg whites, oats, and cottage cheese could turn out so tastee… and no, you can’t at all taste the cottage cheese! I just made up the batter and then stored it in the frig…

Total Calories in Breakfast: 309 (3 protein pancakes, 2 Tblsp. lite syrup, strawberries)

    IMG_0396.jpg

Meal #2 includes Enlightened Egg Salad (minus the pita and I did a variation on this recipe adding different spices), baby tomatoes, carrots, and 1 reduced sodium dill pickle stacker.

Total Calories in Meal #2: 330

    IMG_0402.jpg

Meal #3 included light Tangy Potato Salad and red pepper slices.

Total Calories in Meal #3: 213

    IMG_0403.jpg

Dinner included light mushroom stroganoff over eggless egg noodles and peas.

    Total Calories in Dinner: 411

    IMG_0407.jpg

Dessert included an angel food cake topped with plain strawberries and blueberries, strawberry sauce, and lite cool whip. Recipe!

    Total Calories for Dessert: 237

TOTAL CALORIES FOR THE WHOLE DAY: 1500

And that’s a lot of food. It’s a myth that calorizing means you can’t eat anything. You totally can… it just takes some planning in advance to get the most out of limited calories. I’m like a magician… except with less skillz and no rabbits. Judge away, my peeps… except don’t expect me to care too much this time! :P

By the grocery store delli and they are very good! Many flavors, but this one is my favorite. They are large and 11 gives you 110 calories and only 5 are from fat, 170 mg sodium, 3g protein, 0.5g fat, 170mg sodium, 23g total carbs, 1g fiber

I am with you on that one. But with such great progress i doubt any one can be too judgmental. You are amazing and the only down side of this post is now I want to try each one of those dishes...instantly...simultaneously... They look delicious! Keep up the good work and THANK YOU for the share! :)

    Cheers!

Thank YOU! And I know you're definitely right... there shouldn't be much judgment, but it certainly does happen. I eat carbs in moderation... OH THE HORRORS... I eat sugar sometimes... BLASPHEMY!!!! There are some chemicals in my food... ALERT THE CHURCH ELDERS!! You'd be surprised what kind of self-righteous people dwell on weight loss sites! But on the other hand, there are so many like yourself who are kind and accepting and that's why I love this place!

I think it's really helpful that this is a meat eating person (me) eating "regular" food and losing weight in a way that we can keep up in the "real world" with "real lives" and at least one vegetarian person (whitney) eating "normal" food and being healthy while losing weight in a way that we can keep up day to day!
