Im all for people looking more into BDSM, it's a fascinating world and I encourage it. But dont read this book and consider it to be a reference on the subject.

    I couldn't agree more.

They did not have a safe word because she was never a sub. She did not sign the contract.

But... she did safe word. I believe in the second book, though.

Hah! That's right, for whatever reason the author refused to use the word "condom" and constantly had Ana referring to her lady parts as "my sex".

Or she's say...."and he touched me...'there"" as if it's too naughty to say WHERE he was touching her. I mean we all knew, but c'mon, you're busting out the handcuffs, blindfolds and butt plugs but you can't speak a body part? LoL. Ridiculous.
This, and the she was getting tied up and banged all over town but was blushing and "flushing" because her roommate was being affectionate with Christian's brother? Her character was so annoying and confusing!

But can I just say that I am pretty excited for the movie of this to come out. If the rumors are true that they're casting Ian Somerhalder as Christian...OMG I am SO going to watch it. Although I'm not entirely sure how they're going to effectively make this into a movie with all the s*x scenes. But Ian Somerhalder = YUM!!!

I agree that it is too repetitive, but I am still finding it inspiring in the bedroom.

You are obviously entitled to your opinion in terms of it lowering your opinion of women, but why can't we be everthing...In control at times, submissive at others? Personally, as a woman who is in control 95% of the time, I think the idea of giving myself over to someone I trust and being submissive to them for an hour or two of play is refreshing and fun (and something brand new to me). I'm not into the pain aspect AT ALL, but the silk scarves and blindfolds are rather appealing. Taking away one sense (touch, sight, whatever) only serves to heighten other senses.... :-)

No. It's not porn. If it were it would say things like " Christian, stop being a jerk and stick your c@ck in my c@nt already!"

I write porn , romance, and erotica. All under a pen name. 12 published.

It's more like one step up from romance but hovers around erotica.

There is the mention of the work F@ck more often than not.

They claim it as BDSM, but it's not true to that. There is a play room and some spanking/flogging. A little bit of tying up. It's embarrassing to most in the BDSM community.

The grammar is awful. The writer is in London. The story is based in the USA. Her characters speak as if they are British. Bullocks. We don't speak like that. My family is Irish and this was even an embarrassment to them. I stopped counting the grammatical and spelling errors after the first chapter.

Every author , including EL James will tell you - she just got lucky.

Fan fiction. Yes, that. The author loved Twilight and set out to make up some grown-up characters. The characters personalities resemble that of Edward and Bella. That's about it. Hes controlling like Edward. She naive and clumsy like Bella.

The characters are underdeveloped. Anyone who has had a creative writing or literature class will tell you that.

    But.
    No one cares.

    Why?

    Because its FUN.

I have a serious love/hate with the series. I just think it could have been written SO MUCH better.

I just hope whoever's writing the movie screenplay, it becomes its own story.

The author is from London I believe which may explain her referring to it as her "sex"? Maybe that's what they call it there...

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty is 10x worse than 50 Shades of Grey.

Now THAT is some f*cked up reading right there! If you want BDSM and good writing, go for the Sleeping Beauty Trilogy. NOT my thing though... at all.

With your description of it being effed up, now my interest is sparked

And I just misread that as 'now my interest is spanked'.

The Beauty books are good, though. Surprised so many people know about them. Makes me feel much less like the kinky perv that I surely am!

    An appropriate mistake

This makes me snort laugh and shudder at the same time!!!

The funny thing is, people think it's just women, but I know someone who made a living for awhile off corporate exec guys who paid good money to get tied up and beat. No one ever says that's demeaning to men and shouldn't be discussed. Of course, there isn't a NY Times bestselling book about it, either. Yet...

    whats BDSM?

    Bondage
    Dominance/Dominant
    Submission / Sadistic
    Machismo

Basically, you like to be bossed or you want to boss. You like a little pain with your pleasure. Being tied up, immobilized, sissified, spanked, flogged, tied, and verbally abuse excited you.
