    11/19/2009-162 HECK YES!!!

I wasn't going to weigh myself this week....because I hadn't been so good on my intense workouts. I had a few rest days this week, even though I ate really pretty well. But, I ended up dropping 2 pounds! Probably because I am completely confusing my body with the workouts and rest days. It felt good though!! I am feeling SO much better about myself!

I'm hoping to be in the 150's by Christmas! Yippie!

Well I had a much better week. Still crazy busy with work and family, but managed to squeeze more exercise in.

My husband ran in a Turkey Trot today. Really impressed with him. :glasses: (He did the 2 mile in just under 22 minutes. It was his first race since HS track when he ran in the "fat man's relay.") I will admit that I'm a little jealous. He started the couch 2 5K because I sent him a link to it. I sent him the link because I wanted to try it! :ohwell: Unfortunately I never seem to have time to myself to exercise. My usual is to walk a mile+ with the kiddos (2 and 5) in tow. We (the kids and I) have started "dancing" to oldies and 80's tunes to up the ante. I would love to be able to go to a gym where I could let the kids play in a children's area while I work out. Unfortunately I live, literally, in the middle of no where! (We drive 30+ miles to get to the nearest town with a grocery store!:noway:) Hubby runs in the am, which I would like to do with him, but we can't leave the kids at home alone.

I feel like I'm the "do what I say, not what I do" queen. I've told several friends that you "just have to make time for you" and here I am, not making time for me.:frown: But I feel stuck. My only times to workout are either while DH is running in the AM, or before he gets home in the afternoons. There's a weight bench that DH uses downstairs, but the last time I lifted was 15 years ago, and I'll admit I wasn't too into then. I don't know that I would feel comfortable lifting while they were unsupervised.

Any suggestions for exercises I can do with the kids? I refuse to let this stop me, but it sure is frustrating.

Here's to another good week! (Which should be interesting with all the Thanksgiving fare!)

    Lisa,

First, you are doing great! Progress is always progress.

I am a mom of three so I understand your challenges. This is the first year mine are in school. But, when mine were your ages, it's all about planning and compromise (with your spouse, that is). With planning, really brainstorm some other times that might work for you. Do your kids have a down time or even a nap? If so, plan to work out during that time, even if it is just 30 minutes each day. I used to have "video time" for one while the other napped. During that time, I had to resist the temptation to get caught up on house work. It was my time to put in a workout video ( I liked Leslie Sansone at the time) and stick to it. Regarding compromise, I had to clearly communicate to my hubby that I needed to notch out a time for walking/jogging when he got home from work. I would let him get settled, get the kids engaged in an activity and clearly let him know how long I would be gone. I took the most advantage of this on weekends when our schedules were a little easier.

I hope that gets you thinking of some options to try. Just keep experimenting. I also had to be flexible and work out sometimes after the kids went to bed. It's not ideal, but it was what had to happen for me.

    I'm still here!!! :drinker:

This week I am REALLY busting my *kitten*! I am doing very low carb (<20%), high protein, moderate fat every day except Thanksgiving. I am planning on lifting, continuing my G28K training, and doing fasted cardio. The gym is open even on Thanksgiving, but I will be running outside that day (week 9, day 1 of G28k!)

Let's all make plans for this week and STICK TO THEM. Here's mine:

    Today: Week 8, Day 3 G28K - 40 min running, 14 min speedwalk, 20% carbohydrates
    Wed: Lifting - Chest/Triceps/Abs, 30 min. cardio, 10% carbohydrates
    Thurs: Week 9, Day 1 G28K - 50 min running, 10 min speedwalk, 10% carbohydrates (UNTIL DINNER! )
Fri: 30 min. fasted cardio in the AM, Lifting - Legs/Abs in the PM, 10% carbohydrates
    Sat: Week 9, Day 2 G28k - 50 min running, 10 min speedwalk, 10% carbohydrates
Sun: 30-60 min. stationary bike, 10% carbohydrates

Turkey day will just be a refeed day! I will bump my carbs back up to 40% Monday. I aim to lose another lb this week!!

    Hey everyone, it's weigh-in day!
Oh, and also THANKSGIVING! So happy Turkey Day!!!

I am thankful that even though I've had a tough year, I have made it through with the help of my family. And that I was accepted as a PhD student! :drinker:

Edit: Weighed myself on my parents Wii Fit system. Not the same scale but still good!

    11/5: 134.2
    11/12: 132.8 (-1.4)
    11/19: 131.6 (-1.2)
    11/26: 130.6 (-1)
    12/3
    12/10
    12/17
    12/31
    1/1/2010: 127!?!?

    Arms 12.5 (-.25)
    Waist 27 (-.75)
    Abdomen 29.5
    Butt 38 (-1.5)
    Thighs 20.5
    Inner Thigh 23.25 (-.25..FINALLY)
    Calves 14.75 (-.25)

Well I lost 1.25 inches between my waist, butt, inner thigh, and calves, so I'd say this is a productive week! I may fill out again once I re-incorporate carbs, but I can feel by how my muscles feel against my skin and how my stomach looks that I've gotten leaner. But 3 inches and 3.6lbs in 3 weeks...woohoo!

Well, I broke the 20 pound mark! However, that was this morning before any cooking or feasting. Although, I think I didn't do TOO bad at lunch. I then followed it up with an hour of walking around K-Mart. This evening I will probably try to do a while on MILs exercise bike. Hopefully that will do a little damage control:blushing: :blushing:

    174.....as of Saturday....

What is killing me is all the stress - went to the gym everyday while I was home studying, but ended up being nervous about the whole thing, and consuming to much Soda( my life's biggest vice) and that erased any of the good that I did at the gym.

    Goal for this week -
Limit soda intake to 1 can/cup per day - and thats it!
    and
Brainstorm some better ways to deal with this job/job requirement stress.

Well, I didn't gain anything over Thanksgiving! Also, I found some exercise videos on sparkspeople.com. They have a bunch of different ones. Most are 10-15 minutes. They have some using hand weights, stability balls, resistance bands, no equipment, foam rollers, etc. I can usually make it through one shorter one before my 2 yo starts fussing and crying (he's been sick and is thus very clingy:ohwell: ).

Emma your making me nervous for Xmas!!

Still have most of my shopping to do and i dont have any ideas for most of them.
Though i did take advantage of wandering through the Mall and target today. Extra calories burned.
