Show Me Your Wedding Dresses!
Hi All
I'm going wedding dress shopping for the very first time on Saturday... and I have NO IDEA what I'm looking for! I've seen loads in magazines and trawled the websites of the shops I'm going to, but I'm no closer to working out what I want.
I think a large part of this is that the dresses are always worn by 6 foot beauties with waistlines the size of my wrist! It's impossible to tell what they look like on anyone who isn't! (I'm only a shorty - 5'1" on a tall day, and 126lbs).
Please Please PLEASE show me your wedding dresses! (Or your wife's dress, I'm not fussy!) It would be so handy to see them on real women, and not just the picture perfect models! I know I'm going to have to try them on and see for myself, but I really need some inspiration!
Thanks

I don't have any wedding pics on this computer right now. But I'll give you some advice. Go to a bridal shop and just try on every single dress that catches your eye. Short, long, sleek, poofy, lacy, beaded, whatever. When I got married I had a picture in my mind of a simple satin dress with just a little volume at the bottom, and a clean shallow V-neck and a high back, no lace or beading. That's what I wanted. What I ended up falling in love with was the polar opposite: off-the shoulder, beading and embroidery all over the bodice, and a full skirt with 13 layers of tulle over a hoop slip. Looking at pictures and having an idea in mind is great, but trying on everything is better.1

Celebrated 3 years in May.
EDIT: I am 5'5", and probably 140-145 in the picture. The dress is by Alfred Angelo, but is at least 5 years old as I bought it at a sample sale in 2008.0 -
i cant get a bigger version of the pic but here is the website where i found one ive fallen in love with

My advice is to try loads on - all styles even ones you think you won't like.
I didn't want strapless, laced back, full skirt or a train.
Guess what my dress was?!! All of the above!!
The only thing that I stuck with was no veil!0 -
You don't want to see mine! It was beautiful but heck I got married 23 years ago and styles change. I had the dropped V waist and a bow in the back. LOL.. by the way I am only 5ft tall. When we got married I was 107 pounds. How I miss those days..that is my goal. To fit into that dress on our 25th anniversary in 2 years!!0

my dress... Can't find any pics of me IN IT... which is weird.0 -
This was 7 years ago and about 60 lbs lighter. The dress was from David's bridal for about $200 but cost twice as much to alter since I had lost about 20 lbs before the wedding, all the layers of chiffon. The cute thing is my nieces, who were flower girls, had the exact dress for themselves. I hope it loads.
i give up, my HTML coding sucks nowdays. jeez. temperamental coding.0 -

I got married in 2010, and this was my dress:
For the reception, I took off the outer beaded jacket, and I put on some short sleeves that just snapped into the dress. It made the dress much lighter and easier to dance in.
I got it at David's Bridal. They did the sleeves too.
I wanted a gown that would cover my shoulders and was high up top.
I tried on over 50 dresses before I found this one. I just couldn't find what I wanted.
My advice is to try on different styles. See what you like and feel good in, and go from there. Finding gowns that cover the arms is really really hard these days, so if that's something you want, there are options, but they are limited. Just set a clear budget, stick to it, and enjoy shopping!0 -
my wedding outfit was jeans combat boots and a harley top0

I'm getting married in october and this is my dress.
and I'm adding a few pieces so it'll look more like this...
I love this dress because it has a laced up backing instead of a zipper. So I don't need to take it in or out!0 -
