Desperate, lonely people seeking here what they can't get in real life.
    Pity them and move on.

Couldn't be further from the truth (in some cases, not all). Speak for yourself. *eye roll*

I only accept friend requests from the boldest, creepiest, most aggressive females this site has to offer.

In that case, I apologize. But showing skin on this site... it's just going to happen. Some people have been here for a while working toward their goal, and showing off what they've got is a motivator. Just wanted to speak up about that!

I'm sorry, but the majority of guys I know (no offense guys) see a girl in a bra and think "oooh boobs"

Heck, I'm a hetero female, and when I see pics of girls in a bra I think "oooh boobs"! They're functional; they're beautiful, and they're worth showing off.

not to be rude...but most of your pics involve a lack of clothing...ever think that you could be sending guys the wrong message. Think like a dude for a second....and realize that while you are probably intending to show progress/etc... all they see is 'scantily clad girl'

Wait, so you're telling me that men belonging to a FITNESS site can't possibly see a women on the same FITNESS site in WORKOUT clothes and think anything aside from "SHE SHOULD SHOW ME HER BOOBS, LET ME ASK!".

Please. Just because she has a nice body and is showing it in pretty modest workout clothes doesn't mean she's sending ANY message aside from "I take care of and am proud of my body". Think like a man my rear-- maybe think like a total creep.

so are you saying that men on a fitness site think differently than other guys? are they a special new breed? I'm sorry, but the majority of guys I know (no offense guys) see a girl in a bra and think "oooh boobs"

I have no problem with progress pictures...and the message that you're indicating is what I'm seeing.... So before you chastize me anymore, realize that I was simply presenting a different perspective.

Guys see a woman in a t-shirt and think "ooooh boobs". JS!

The nature of the site and its' focus - improving our bodies, confidence etc - leads to people becoming quite involved, personal and even intimate in some cases. It's not a bad thing in my opinion that the community is so open, relaxed and honest.

However, asking for nudes is Category A: Weird.

    This. QFT.

...and there is nothing wrong with showing some skin/progress in the profile pics -- it is a fitness site.

    - PATHETIC! -:noway:
I've heard rapist rationalize their deeds just like this.
Our attitude here needs to be supportive without injecting the added awkwardness of unwanted harassment.
And if lonely hearts want to get nasty, start a nasty group.

hahahahahahhaha thanks for proving the point I was trying to make! And don't worry, I think mine are spectactular too... and now I suppose I need to sit back and wait to be told that I'm pathetic/lame/desparate/something else for saying that! lol

I just came across a site called http://www.fitness-singles.com that seems like it is a dating site where your matched based on common fitness activities.

    Haha, that's awesome!

And I signed up for it. Not having any luck on the traditional dating sites.

Totally agree! and I'm a happily married woman. I love when I see guys and girls comfortable enough in their own skin to show off what they accomplished. :drinker:

Um... FITNESS site -- where you will see people in WORKOUT clothes. The idea is that people will be showing off their bodies because they've undergone a transformation and/or are working hard and are proud -- not because they want messages about nude photos. There is a huge difference between appreciating another person's body and being a complete jerk assuming they are offering sexual services (LIKE SENDING NUDE PHOTOS). You, my friend, are defending the jerks. Have fun with that. I'll be over here assuming all men aren't total pigs.

If people want to do it and there's a way for them to, regardless of intent and purpose of the site they're using they'll do it. I'm active on a site that's 13+ and caters to teenagers and college age kids and I still see cyber sex and pics of near-nude girls and guys trying to look hot just for attention.

It's the internet, people can't see you so if someone wants to be seen, clothed or not, they're going to have to plaster images every-g*ddamn-where.

you are missing my point entirely. Just because I understand a different perspective doesn't mean that I agree with it! The only thing I'm defending is that everyone views things differently. Also, I never said that I assume all mean are total pigs...I made a reference to guys that I know (and fun fact - I don't know them all). So please, if you would like to harass me, please read what I'm actually saying, not what you're reading into. kthanks

I guess I haven't been here long enough to see any of this. I don't think someone showing off their hard work in workout clothes is bad. Good on em.. I know I will be when I get to where I want to be

at the end of the day MFP is a community with different types of people, for every creep trying to see nudes, theres a spontaneous poster who is glad to show him. For every girl posting progress pics theres a creep checking them out for the wrong reasons...not much you can do but worry about yourself and what you came here for, whethers its fitness, dating or both

Is it hurting anyone? No. So why even bother ranting? If you don't like it, be choosier with your friends. It's not my style, though I have been creeped on.
Ever been to a co-ed dorm? Same concept, just "safer" because there's a barrier (ie- the interwebs). Women and men both love attention. And women who were heavier or had lower confidence typically will participate in these things for the attention. It makes them feel good. Who am I or anyone else to judge?
