Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was nice. It was hot and humid….surprisingly hot to be honest. But we spent Saturday on yard work and running errands and yesterday was spent playing golf. We didn’t have any rain this weekend, just a little thunder and lightening last night. Looks like it is going to be a hot week to finish August.

For workouts, on Saturday I did a Jessica power walk and 45 minutes of yoga. Yesterday was LITE Pyramid Pump Upper Body and Cathe Live Warrior Kickboxing. And today was LITE Pyramid Pump Lower Body and spin. Love those Pyramid Pump workouts!

Thelma, great workouts. I am glad your knee is doing better. Have you been getting more than usual numbers of hummingbirds recently? We have so many and entertain ourselves in the evening watching them fight over the feeders. DH thinks they may be attracted more to a new kind of food we are using, but I am wondering if there are just more birds this year for whatever reason.

Laurie, great workout. Happy Anniversary!! And HUGE congratulations to your DD and SIL on the little one!!!! That is such exciting news. I am sorry she suffered a lost pregnancy earlier and totally understand being hesitant in celebrating….but December is coming quickly! I bet you have all kinds of craft ideas in your head for the little one. I am so happy for you all. Anyhow, sounds like you had a wonderful weekend with family and friends. I bet the Barbie convention was fun. I love the size of a RAV4. We had one the first time we were in Alaska and wanted to replace it with another one but opted for the Mazda CX-5 instead—which was DHs car before this one. But my cars have primarily been coupes (Honda and Lexus), which makes my Outback feel like a tank. But….it gets the job done. My sister had a Santa Fe and absolutely loved it.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Walking Outdoors x2 and ICE Chiseled Lower Body. This is going to be another great rotation week!

It's gotten warmer here, but nothing like in July! We are feeling some humidity for sure.

I've been having problems with my lower back and what I think is a nerve issue because sometimes I feel this jolt sensation down my buttocks or my thighs. I saw my nurse practitioner today and she is sending me for PT because it appears that it is sciatica and also the piriformis muscle. You know I always do a lot of stretching. The biggest issue I think it's the sciatica. I have scoliosis and I think I am pretty sure I have some compression going in my spine. The fact that I exercise helps me tremendously and now the walking too. The NP had me do a forward fold and she couldn't believe how easily I was able to do that and touch my feet. She said: "look at you!"
She was very impressed with all the exercising I do and wished that her other patients would do the same. I don't have PT appointments yet because the PT place claimed they hadn't received the prescription/referral.

Laurie, that was a busy weekend! Sounds like a wonderful weekend! A baby!!! Congratulations to your DD, her DH and all of you! I don't know how I would feel about being a grandma either. I think the hardest part is being called grandma. I bet that once the baby arrives being called grandma will feel lovely!
What are you making for the baby? I'm sure a quilt for the crib is in order. I am so excited for all of you! I don't blame you for not saying anything sooner. I'm sorry your DD had a miscarriage in the past.

I'm so glad the quilt company did a great job with your quilt! I can't wait to see the pictures.
    Great workouts!

Weekends go way too quickly! I'm glad you had a nice dinner experience!

Laurel, I'm glad you had a nice weekend! It will be in the low to mid 80's here this week and no signs of rain in the near future. It's amazing how things dry up pretty quickly around here. It must be the clay soil.

Great workouts! I'll be doing the pyramid pump workouts this week too.

We don't see more than three hummingbirds at-a-time. This is the time when they start migrating south, so you may be seeing some of those birds. All the food hummingbirds need is white sugar water because it is the closest to flower nectar around. I hope you're not giving them red food. It could be harmful.
I thought that living in GA I would see a lot more birds but no such luck. We know someone here who gets hundreds at once! It's amazing!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 30MTF Build & Burn Tabata Legs. Good workout!

Laurel, Awesome job with the workouts! I can't believe that we are already at the end of August, this year has been moving way faster than I wanted. Our early morning walk is now in the dark. :o I do have a ton of ideas, and of course one is a quilt. I have actually purchased the material. My Mom is also making plans to do some things for the baby, this is her first great grandchild. There is just so many cute clothes that can be purchased, and we are planning the baby shower. So many things to do yet.

Thelma, Great job with the workouts! Sorry to hear about the back problems, and hopefully you will start getting the PT that you need. Sometimes that paperwork is just so slow. I for sure will be making the baby a quilt, and probably some other items. I'm thinking of using the Finnish pronunciation of Grandma, but I have to figure out which version. Mummo, Mummu or Mummi I'm thinking the first or the third. The second, sounds to much like you are saying MooMoo. :)

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe Live Intense Upper Body followed by Cathe’s 100 Live episode. It has been a few years since I did the latter workout, and it is tough! It is a blend of kickboxing and HiiT, and I enjoyed it today.

Thelma, great workouts. I am sorry to hear about your back, but I am glad you have had it looked at. Hopefully you can see a PT soon. I often wonder how bad my back would be if I didn’t workout. Like you, I have scoliosis so my body is completely uneven. We finally got some rain today, but it was just a passing shower. We could use some more. In the past we only had two or three hummingbirds at one time….and that was rarely. But this year we have had a few days with twice that. So unusual but so fun. And, no, we don’t feed them red food. I would hate to hurt them. :'(

Laurie, sounds like a great workout. I was wondering if this is your mother’s first great grandchild. She much be so excited. If I have a vote on what this baby calls you :D;) I love Mummi!!! I have never heard the Finnish versions of the word before. Anyhow, I hear you on the season change. Last night I went out to the deck to eat at 7pm, and it was getting dark. I am not ready for that at all.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Tuesday were Jessica Smith Power Walking, Walking Outdoors x2, LITE Stacked Sets Upper Body and Abs and Stretch. I actually did Jessica Smith's bonus core workout from one of her new DVD's. It was gentle and easy.

We got about .85 inches of rain today. I certainly wasn't expecting it. I finally got a cheap rain gauge, so I have an idea of how much rain we get.

No PT appointment yet. I will call them tomorrow. I saw my chiropractor today and she thinks I have two nerves causing problems and I agree. Right now, icing is helping a lot in addition to all the moving I'm doing. I need to get a laptop holder for my treadmill so I can snail pace walk while I'm reading or answering email. I think DH will have to make me the stand.

Laurie, sounds like a great workout! Good job!
Are leaves starting to turn there yet?

I can't wait to see the baby's quilt and the other things you and your mom will make for him/her. I love Mummi if it sounds like MooMee.

    Laurel, fantastic workouts!
I'm sure your back would be a mess if you didn't exercise as much as you do.
You're so lucky to have more hummingbirds this year! That means that you probably 6 times the number you see. I am using 2 - 4oz feeders and they are draining them every couple of days. I'm glad you're not feeding them the red stuff!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was Build & Burn Cardio Core, one of my favorite ways to do core work. :) Last night DH and I hauled a couch out of our upstairs spare room. It was kind of hilarious, but we managed to get it out. DH said that I could classify it as a workout. :D It did remind me of the Friends episode when they where hauling the couch upstairs. :D

I like the sound of Mummi. :)

Laurel, Great workouts! I am all for kickboxing hiit. :D Ya that sun is disappearing really fast, and we do have some leaves falling off the trees already. It may be because we had been really dry at the beginning of summer, and the trees where distressed. The version of Grandma in Finnish can change depending on what your family used. Of course my family uses Mummu, and I have never really liked that one.

Thelma, Nice workouts! Glad that you enjoyed the bonus core from the new workouts. I used to have a rain gauge, but I have to get a new glass gauge. I always enjoyed seeing how much rain we had gotten. Hopefully you will have some answers on your appointment today, but glad that you are getting some relief from icing it. We do have some leaves turning, but not to bad so far. It won't be to long before we have color though, this year is speeding along way to fast.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was Cathe Live Love Those Legs, a 30 minute spin and 30 minutes of hip-focused yoga. My back is a little irritated today, so the yoga was perfect for it.

Thelma, great workouts. I hope you get an appointment soon for your back. I am sure your DH can rig something up on your treadmill for your laptop. Sounds like a good way to multi-task. We have leaves changing and falling here already. Like Laurie said, I think a lot of that was caused by the early dry and hot summer we had. I am not looking forward to all that raking again….already. :D

Laurie, great workout. And great other workout moving the couch! Those are never fun to move for sure. I am glad you like the sound of Mummi! I am sure your DD will have a say in it, though. :) Like I mentioned to Thelma, our leaves are changing already too…..and a few trees are dropping leaves. It seems so early for that here, but it has been a weird summer so not unexpected I suppose.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Gentle Flow Yoga, Walking Outdoors x2, and LiTe Strong Body Stacked sets: Lower + abs and extended stretch.

I got a copy of my x-ray report and I have degenerative disc disease. The L4 and 5 vertebrae are affected, which is exactly what my chiro thought given my symptoms. It stinks to get old! I did a little reading on what I can do to manage this condition and I'm pretty much doing everything I can do, except PT. Needless to say, I am going to start taking ab workouts more seriously now!
Hopefully I'll be able to schedule a PT appointment soon.

I don't like taking pain meds but lately I've taking one a week when my back hip bones are hurting. I had to take one on Tuesday. Wednesday was a great day, and the ice is really helping with the piriformis pain! I also bought a seat cushion that claims helps with sciatica and piriformis issues. It arrived today and so far, so good. The jury is still out on the cushion because I actually had a good piriformis day.

Laurie, I love the name of that workout! Good job!
Good job moving that couch! I remember that Friends episode! Pivot! Pivot! LOL. I agree with your DH that it classified as a workout!

It will be fun to watch the rain gauge going forward. It's definitely teaching me that I had no clue how much rain it takes to get an inch of rain in that gauge! I am not ready for fall. We do have leaves turning too. The Dogwoods are spring flowering trees and those leaves have been red for weeks now.

Laurel, great workouts! I love those hip focused yoga sessions! Sorry your back is feeling a little irritated. Try an icepack!

I checked the treadmill today and all I need is a wide board. DH can take measurements and cut it to size for me.

The Farmers' Almanac is predicting a shivery, wet and slushy winter for the south. Our weatherman on the other hand says it will be rainy with temps above normal. I hope the weatherman is correct!

We have leaves falling too. I agree that the crazy summer we had has a lot to do with the leaves falling already. Our local weatherman says we'll have beautiful fall colors! I hope he's right about that!

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 30MTF Build & Burn Upper Body, and then I tacked on her Body Design Upper Body. :)

Laurel, Great job with your workouts! Hope that your back is "back" to normal today. I'm sure that my DD will have an opinion on what I'm called. Of course DH's is very easy with Pappa. I'm not looking forward to all the leaves either. Of course I can see the large number of walnuts also, so that is never fun to haul into the back yard. :D

Thelma, Awesome job with the workouts! Sorry to hear about your back. Check out the GHUTV youtube. Chris Freytag has stated that she suffers from degenerative disc, and she gave some information on what she does for her back. I know that form roller and/or a tennis ball was part of her daily ritual. Of course you know your body very well, so I'm sure that you will find what works for you. I'm sure that those dogwood's are really pretty. I love those leaves that turn the really pretty colors. Walnut trees just turn yellow, and fall pretty fast.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a complete mess of workouts, but it was good. :) I decided to do Cathe’s live workout with her again this morning since she promised it would be ‘express’. It was a low impact/upper body circuit type workout, and it was indeed express! But because of that, it didn’t really make me feel like I had done either cardio or strength. It was a good workout and perfect for a recovery workout, but not so much for me today. So I took a little break and then did my planned workout which was LITE Stacked Sets Upper Body, LITE Rev’d Up Rumble and 45 minute of Pilates. That made for a very long workout but since none of the workouts were super intense, it was manageable. Obviously my back was feeling better today. :)

Thelma, great workouts. I am sorry to hear about your back diagnosis. I am glad you know you are already doing what you can for it minus the PT, and hopefully that happens soon. The only forecast I have heard for fall is a cooler than normal September and November and a warmer than usual October. I don’t much care about the temperatures but, boy, I really hope it is a wet fall and winter. Remind me I said that if it is and I start complaining about it. :D

Laurie, sounds like a fun workout combo. My back was ‘back’ to normal today. :) I think the LITE Pyramid Pump Lower Body workout really tightened up my hips and hamstrings and they just needed a little TLC. We have already had one tree drop most of its nuts. :o But I can see the rest of the trees are full of them. If it is anything like last year when our yard was completely covered in nuts no matter how hard we worked to get rid of them. I might be tempted to move. :D;)

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Thursday were Walking Outdoors x3, Gina B's 3000 Steps and LITE Pyramid Pump Upper Body Up Only. I was too tired to do the entire workout. I feel that I got a very good upper body workout though.

Nothing from the PT place yet. I did call and left a message. I've been doing some research on spine specialists and found one who is actually covered by my insurance. I'm not sure I need this doctor yet. I want to do the one of PT and see my nurse practitioner first.

I woke up feeling totally exhausted and my back was stiff and achy, which didn't help in the enthusiasm department. It turns out that I had a really good piriformis day. Clearly icing, the new cushion, stretching and exercising are helping. This is the best my piriformis has felt in years. Now I know that the deep glute tightness I felt is the piriformis muscle. Amazing! My quads and inner thighs felt pretty DOMSY today. I guess the leg workout from the night before caused the DOMS, maybe it's because I used the barbell.

    Laurie, great workouts!
Thanks for the heads up on Chris Freytag's video on her back issues. I think I found it. I will watch it this weekend. I actually used to use the foam roller for my spine before. I also have a DVD that deals with spine massage with massage balls.

Our chicken coop is right below an oak tree, which is full of acorns. I don't know why I never noticed this before, but the squirrels are cracking those things open. There are shells all over the driveway near the tree. I've spent more time outside this summer than I ever did before, so I'm noticing all kinds of things I never noticed before. Sometimes it feels like it's raining acorn shells. LOL. We also have another tree that has green balls. I don't know what kind of tree it is, but DH calls the green balls squirrel grenades.

Laurel, great workouts! Great job! I am so glad your back is feeling better!
I've taken a picture of this post to remind you that you wanted a wet fall and winter when you start complaining about it! LOL! Just kidding!
I don't want it to be too wet because of my chickens. They've only gotten wet once when it rained sideways. My poor girls got drenched. It's OK in the summer but not in the winter.

A friend posted this on Facebook, and I just had to share it with you

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was RAW Lower Body ( Pyramids). I enjoyed the pyramid style. There is only two people in the office today, and I think that I'm going to only be here a half day. ;)

We are going to have a really nice weekend around here, so I think there will be some yard work happening. Saw some friends at Qdoba last night when I was picking up my dinner. I think that we will be doing something with them, since they where actually talking about us at that very moment. That was fate happening at that very moment. :D

Laurel, Great job adjusting your workouts to suit how your body was feeling. Glad to hear that your back is feeling better. Can't believe that one tree already dropped nuts, hopefully there isn't anything wrong with it. I remember all the cleaning up you had to do last year with them, so I hope that you are in inundated with them. If you have to move then it is serious. :D

Thelma, Nice job with doing what your body is capable of handling and not pushing it. I hope that you are able to find some relief, it has to be difficult to deal with. Yesterday the co-worker that sits next to me was moving his body like he had a stiff neck. I have been there, so I know how he was feeling. LOL about the squirrel grenades, that is a great description. Sounds like the squirrels have a bounty of tree food available to them in your yard.

    Have a wonderful weekend,

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was LITE Stacked Sets Lower Body followed by a 45 minute spin. My legs have been fried all week so I am looking forward to a couple of days off from lower body workouts.

Thelma, great workouts despite being tired. Sounds like your body needs some rest. I laughed out loud at that sign! Thank you for sharing it with me. My DH will get a laugh out of it too! Some days……that is exactly how golf feels. :D

Laurie, great workout. Sounds like a nice weekend, especially if you get an early departure from work. The one tree that dropped its nuts dropped them early last year as well. It doesn’t show any signs of stress, but we have talked about taking it and two others out because of how close to the house they are. But since it is currently healthy, we are hoping to wait until next year to do that.

    Enjoy the long weekend!

Hi Ladies, I hope you had a great weekend. It was pretty rainy here and from Wednesday through Sunday morning we got 3.7 inches of rain.

We went to NC for dinner with a friend on Friday and that was very nice. Saturday was just doing stuff around the house and on Sunday I helped DH outside with the coop. He added a front door to the nesting box so that I could collect the eggs. The original door opens upwards and because we elevated the coop off the ground, I couldn't reach the eggs. The new door is working out beautifully.

My workouts on Friday were Walking Outdoors x2, Gentle Flow Yoga, and
    LITE Pyramid Pump Lower Body.
    Saturday - Walking Outdoors x2
Sunday - Walking Outdoors, STS Total Body, and Gina B Power Walk.
Monday - Walking Outdoors, YinYasa Yoga, Gina B. Low Impact Cardio, and Butts & Guts Premix # 1 Standing Glutes and Abs.

Still no news from the PT people. I've been icing a couple of times a day and it's helping a lot.

Laurie, great pyramid workout! I hope you were able to start the holiday weekend early on Friday and have dinner with your friends!!

When I was in boarding school as teenager, I used to wake up with a stiff neck a lot. It isn't fun at all. Thankfully that doesn't happen now.

Laurel, great workouts! I'm glad you enjoyed the little golf sign! LOL

Have you checked your Beachbody account now that they own OpenFit? I checked mine the other day and they had it set to auto-renew. In fact, they had an invoice ready to go this month when my membership expires. I cancelled my membership because I'm not using the service.

    Have a great week!

    Morning Ladies,

Had an extremely busy weekend. On Friday we went out with our friends, Saturday was yard work and some sewing, Sunday I went to Chicago with my oldest DD to do some shopping, and Monday was more sewing and at the end of the day we went to our neighbors house for dinner. Of course this is the same neighbor that our youngest's bf's mom and sister live.

I didn't workout on Saturday, and Sunday was a lot of walking. Yesterday I did a longer workout with RAW Weights 1, this morning was RAW Boxing & Drills.

Laurel, Great job with your workouts! Hope your weened was a nice one, and that you where able to get some golfing in.

Thelma, Outstand job with your workouts! Glad to hear that your renovation on the coop is working out for you. Nice that you where able to have dinner with friends, we find that there is a lot of talking. :D I'm sure the rain was needed. Yep I was able to take off early on Friday, and it was nice to get some housework done before we left to meet our friends.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! I hope you enjoyed the weekend. Ours was nice. We had rain on Sunday, but both Saturday and yesterday were cloudy but mostly dry. So we played golf both of those days and did household chores and errands on Sunday. It made for a very relaxing weekend. I think next weekend we will have to turn our attention back to our neglected yard and garden.

For workouts, on Saturday I did Jessica’s new YouTube walk which was a 2 mile Wake Up and Walk walk, followed by yoga. Sunday was a 60 minute spin and LIS Turbo Barre. Yesterday was High Reps and Cathe Live For the Love of Cardio. Today was a 75 minute spin followed by 20 minutes of Pilates.

Thelma, great workouts. I am glad the new coop door is working out for you. I was wondering if you were still getting fresh eggs daily. I was also wondering if you were at all impacted by some of the flooding, though I think that may have been west of you. You got way more rain that we did for sure. And thank you for that note about Beachbody! Like you, mine was set up to automatically renew, and I canceled. I looked through their site when we transferred over and knew it wasn’t for me.

Laurie, great workouts. And it sounds like a wonderful weekend. I am glad you were able to get off early on Friday as you hoped. Getting the cleaning done before a weekend always makes the weekend feel better…..at least for me it does? :)

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Monday were Gina B's 3000 Steps, Walking Outdoors x2, and S&S Total Giant Sets.

We got a little unexpected rain tonight. The next chance of rain will be on Saturday.

I finally got through to the PT place and have an evaluation appointment next Tuesday at 8AM.

Laurie, I bet you needed an extra day off after that busy weekend! How far are you from Chicago? I'm glad you were able to leave work early on Friday!
    Great workout!

Dinner was nice and we got to hear everything about our friend's Barcelona trip.

Laurel, I'm glad you had a nice weekend!
    Great workouts!

We get one egg every day from one of the chickens. The other one likes to take days off between eggs. LOL. Sometimes she in on a 3 day on, one day off schedule. This week she appears to be on every other day schedule!
It does sound like we got way more rain than you did. The floods didn't affect us thankfully. I'm so glad I decided to check my Beachbody account. I bet it wouldn't have been easy to cancel the account once the charge had gone through.

    See you tomorrow!

    Morning Ladies,

This morning's workout was 30MTF LIFT w1. Always enjoy doing this one, just for the change of pace.

Laurel, Glad to hear that you where able to get out for some gold, and got in some really good workouts. It was very nice to get that cleaning done before the weekend. I always dread having to do cleaning, there just never seems to be the will or the time on the weekends to get it done. I'm actually taking off tomorrow and Friday, just have to many things going on this weekend. I'm going to be selling some of DH's Mom's things at our church's annual Junk in the Trunk. All the proceeds will be going to the church, otherwise I usually don't do sales like this. My sister, niece and my Mom will probably be coming down too, so that my niece can get her dress fitted. So I'm going to be really busy.

Thelma, Got to love those Giant Sets, and of course all the walking you got done! We are very close to Chicago. We took the train, and that ride is 1-1/2 hours. It takes you right into Union Station. Less stress going that way, because driving in Chicago is crazy. I went with her because I just didn't want her to go down by herself. There has been to many bad things happening to solo women in the area lately. Glad that your dinner was so fun, and of course getting the feel for what Barcelona is like.

    Have a great day!

Hi Ladies! Today’s workout was a long one. I did 4DS Kickbox cardio followed by the 4DS Total Body premix followed by the 4DS Kickbox core work and stretch. It was about 2 hours and 20 minutes, and I was seriously questioning my judgement at one point :D but it was good.

Thelma, great workouts. I am glad you finally got a PT appointment. I will be very interested to hear what exercises they recommend for you. I am also glad to hear you get at least one egg a day from your chickens. You take such good care of them, so it is nice of them to produce for you. :)

Laurie, great workout. It seems I have a two day window after cleaning the house where I can just enjoy it before I start dreading doing it again. :D I feel the same way about my weekly meal planning. B) I hope the sale goes well this weekend. I love that you have chosen to do something so positive with your MILs belongings.

    See you tomorrow.

Hi Ladies, my workouts on Wednesday were Gentle Flow Yoga, Walking Outdoors x3, and 21 Day Fix Flat Abs Fix. I don't remember doing this ab workout before and it is really good. There were some challenging moves but nothing not doable for me. My abs really felt the workout. I am going to do this workout more often.

Laurie, great workout! Have a wonderful weekend! Good luck selling your MIL's things at the church sale and have fun with your mom, sister and niece.

I had no idea you were so close to Chicago. Good for you for going with your DD. I read the news about Chicago. It sounds like a scary place just like Atlanta.

Laurel, great workouts! You're too funny about questioning your judgement!

I will definitely let you know what the PT tells me.
We are glad we get eggs from the chickens, but even when they stop laying, we'll take good care of them. They are funny creatures.

Is next week the last week of our rotation?

    See you tomorrow!
